I made a decision to purchase this reel because they were on sale. I am a Shimano guy. I bought one and put it on my most abused application. 65 pound braid. On my frog rod. One year later I purchased 2 more due to apparent toughness of the first. Put them on my second and third most used rods. Fast forward two more years, I have replaced all of my Shimano reels. And do n't expect to look back. Cost is 30 to 40 percent lower than the Shimano reels. Thank you for making the choice to keep these reels in an affordable price.

I purchased the 30 for my daughter about a month ago to go with her Stratus rod. She wanted pink braid but we could only find 15lb line so we spooled it up and threw a topwater on it and tested it out. To both of our amazement, she casted a good 35 yards on her first cast which is about double of what she was capable of with her old reel using the same rod and line brand. We switched rods keeping the same line and again, 30- 35 yards easy. I know there are a few factors when casting, but the only change made was the reel. This led me to believe that this reel made a huge difference for her. This is probably one of the best purchases for fishing equipment by far. Not to mention, the employee in the fishing section at the Summerville, SC location recommended it. Smooth casting, lightweight, very sleek, definitely recommend picking one up.

If money is no object than get yourself a catfish series Abu, if money is tight this reel will work well if you are familiar with using baitcasting reels. I have landed 15 king salmon on this combo with 15lb braided power pro main lines 12 lb leader with slip bobber setup running skein it handles the big boys great! I have loaded this rod up WAAAAY beyond my expectations horsing 17- 22 lb king salmon with no signs of conserning stress it always seems like it could handle even more, this was my buggest fear buying this setup as the reel I knew was good but the rod is great too!! The real has a great very smooth drag 11/10 would recommend!!!!! Cant beat it for the price if youre just getting into trout or salmon fishing and i would imagine would be good for any float or bottom bouncing fishing! Tight lines!

I love this reel. Using 12lb fluorocarbon on it and it casts perfectly once you get the breaking set up. The size is perfect. I even prefer this reel over my Daiwa Tatula 100. The only down side is that it does feel like cheaper plastic, but I ’ ve been using it nearly every day with no issues so far.

Reel itself was 119. 99, Combo was 139. 99! So I paid an extra 20 bucks and just purchased the combo! 3000 reel with 7ft medium rod! Don ’ t know how the rod will hold up but the reel is the absolute best I ’ ve ever owned!!! Super light, quiet drag, super smooth, great handle!!! Couldn ’ t find anything wrong with this reel!!
