It ’s very lightweight and with the various sizes of cheek pads and headliner I was able to custom fit it to my liking. First ride with this was a full day at a bike park. [ Over the last 12 months, when it comes to mountain biking, I have completely gone over the deep end. I love riding everywhere I can in my home state, Minnesota, and I have traveled to four other states to ride as well. I do n't race and I consider myself an intermediate rider, but I am willing to push myself to get better and try new terrain/features. With the above in mind, I figured why wait until I knocked my teeth out or broke my jaw to get a full- face helmet?! So, I dug in and did my research and settled on the Super DH MIPS Helmet. And, I am glad I did!... I just returned from a trip to Bentonville and had a nasty crash on a gap jump I missed. While the helmet did n't prevent me from shattering my collarbone( surgically repaired with 10 pins and a titanium plate), my melon was completely protected and unharmed from my OTB and trail bouncing. In fact, the helmet is no worse for the wear and ready for more action. Why did I chose the Super DH MIPS Helmet? 1) Tons of venting and a super comfy fit( Yes, your head will still get a bit warmer than having no face- guard. But, it's not as bad as many people say.). In fact, I wore it both climbing and descending, as well as on the features I road( I love skinnies). 2) Quick and easy removal of the face- guard( But, it defeats the purpose of having it... it's for unplanned accidents.). 3) Great visibility and glasses or goggles fit it perfectly( I wear slightly larger sunglasses, googles seem like overkill for my riding purposes). 4) DH rated and MIPS technology—Why go full- face if it is n't rated for the most extreme riding you may experience?! 5) Bell history and quality.

Winter inevitably comes. Along with it is the need to continue riding the bike. The classic summer bike helmet just does n't work in the wintertime as it's just too full of holes for ventilation. Enter the Smith Survey Snow helmet. It has enough ventilation to keep the visor from fogging, but not enough to make your head cold. It has better protection than ANY bike helmet. It keeps your ears warm without blocking exterior sounds. The flip up visor allows you to lift it up when needed even if you wear glasses like I do. Love the photochromatic lens. Super light helmet barely feels it is on. I added the Aleck nunchucks and it sounds great. A couple of improvements points.( a better protection for the lens when stowed away, maybe a whole helmet rigid case or a rigid cover for the lens. Also, the earmuffs out pressure on the ears when using with the audio system.

I used to use a separate goggle and helmet system and this is so much easier and less fuss. I ordered a size larger than I thought I needed in order to be able to fit a thin beanie underneath and I made the right choice. My only complaint is the space between the visor and my upper cheek allows cold air in but I think with the right face protection it should be okay. First, I really liked this helmet from a comfort and fit perspective. It kept my head dry, fit well without constricting, so no complaints there. Second, I ’ ve referred to my helmet in the past tense because on a recent ski trip( I ’ m a boarder, but my family skis, so I ’ m going with ski trip here) I caught my edge on my last run( I know, I know) and I was slammed into the slope on my back, and I whacked my head on the ground. It was a hard impact. I still got a concussion, but I am certain my helmet saved me from much worse. I ’ ll be replacing my helmet with another Smith. Hopefully the new one will have a more peaceful retirement.
