I also like the low- fuss adjustments of the soft nylon straps in the back, which other helmets that I 've tried often make out of hard plastic, which can be uncomfortable. It fits snug, and though I( thankfully) have n't had to test its performance in a fall/during rockfall, I have no doubt it will do its job. I was a little worried about the durability of the exposed foam, but after carrying it through a heavy hailstorm and generally banging it around in the back of the car or on whatever summit I take it off on, I ca n't spot a single dent.

Neither my husband or I previously wore a helmet. My husband does ride quite regularly and often by himself and i have suggested he buy himself a helmet. Earlier this summer I noticed a new silver halyconhelmet in the garage with the bike stuff. Not gon na lie it looked pretty good. Since it was not mine it had to be my husband ’s although he never mentioned getting it. Since he usually rides by himself it was easy to envision him wearing it on rides. Last week we were going out for a ride, as we loaded the car i asked about the helmet. He chuckled and said he got it after he hit 30 mph on a ride but didn ’ t think we would be going quite that fast today. I asked if i could wear it and of course he said absolutely. The helmet fit my normal female head and with some minor strap adjustments i was able to get a great fit. I snugged up the chin strap and we set off. During the ride It actually was very very light and comfortable very well vented and did not feel hot. It felt safe and i am sure i was riding harder than usual as my husband told me to slow down at least once. When we were done as i was taking it off my husband asked what I thought. I told him i liked it and wanted my own. He said that would be great and that he felt a little bit naked without it on.. Hope to never test it but it honestly feels very safe and substantial

My husband is probably the safest most conscientious biker i know. He follows the rules of the road wears lots of bright clothes and is never fast or dangerous. He has also never worn a helmet and neither have i. This spring he got a new bike and a silver halycon helmet. I was not happy with him wearing it as it made me feel he was being unsafe and I thought it was ridiculous. I took a pretty big slam to the back of my head on my first ride with this helmet and I ’ m not brain dead so I ’ m gon na say it works as advertised. Im actually pretty surprised the helmet is still intact as well. I didn ’ t feel hot or cold with it, so that ’s cool. Style is subjective.

Great helmet! Very comfortable and functional. I love that I can open and close the front and back vents separately to help regulate temperature and ventilation. Helmet works well with bluetooth in helmet music( I use Outdoor Tech Chips). I 've not had a hard crash yet to test it, but I 'm glad this helmet has the MIPS system just in case.

I run warm so have no issues with the always open vents on top. Only put a thin balaclava on underneath it once due to below zero temps. First just a huge fan of Mammoth stuff. Great gear, high quality and has a good look to it. This is a good helmet for climbing, biking, and honestly if you are n't worried about fashion on the jobsite can get away with it on some low key sites. The chin strap gets you points with the safety crew. But note it is not TYPE 2, so no help on that. Just type 1 and EN 12492. All good and Mammoth keep making cool stuff!

Kids Captain is great! We have some very adventurous kiddos and so having a helmet that is good for both bikes and climbing is such a great design. My wife has had this helmet for several years. She wore it pretty regularly until this past summer. Last year she decided that helmets were unnecessary and did not really provide much protection and that their effectiveness was overrated. I never wore a helmet so it was no concern to me.
