The title says it all. I 'm not gon na lie- my main objective for a helmet purchase for my daughter was to find one in hot pink. There are plenty out there, but none of them are from brands that I trust or that carried the necessary impact certifications for caving. While we have not used it yet, it fits fine, is lightweight, and I have full confidence in its performance. My only wish is that there was a slightly higher end helmet available in this same color( like the half dome at least), but that's no fault of the Capitan. The helmet is perfectly capable, it's just not fancy schmancy and chock full of features.

Neither my husband or I wore a bike helmet in the past. This spring I bought an expensive bell helmet mail order and wore it two or three times before leaving it on the shelf for good it felt a little large too me and very uncomfortable. After i got my husband a speedometer this summer we noticed we were often going 20 mph or faster. I repeatedly hiked out of ice crags and alpine environments not realizing I ’ m wearing my helmet until I knocked it on the roof of my car while getting in. The best helmet is the one you don ’ t know you ’ re wearing. I previously had an old petzl hard shell helmet and while comfortable, you knew you were wearing a helmet. We ’ ll see how this holds up long term, but after most of an ice climbing season, it ’s still pristine.

I 've used this solely for outdoor rock climbing so far. It's been amazing. The helmet is extremely breathable. It manages to stay on your head while your shifting it around, due to the highly adjustable fit. Numerous people have used it, and its been well liked due the the adjustability. I have used it in cold and rainy weather, and it fits seamlessly into my Mammut Eiger Extreme shell. Overall a great helmet for getting into climbing.

I 've purchased many helmets for climbing/scrambling, and this is by far my favorite. It is lightweight enough that I barely notice it on my head or attached to my pack, it's extremely comfortable, and it fits over a hat if I want to wear one. I also like the low- fuss adjustments of the soft nylon straps in the back, which other helmets that I 've tried often make out of hard plastic, which can be uncomfortable. It fits snug, and though I( thankfully) have n't had to test its performance in a fall/during rockfall, I have no doubt it will do its job. I was a little worried about the durability of the exposed foam, but after carrying it through a heavy hailstorm and generally banging it around in the back of the car or on whatever summit I take it off on, I ca n't spot a single dent.

Overall, I really like this helmet. First of all, I only considered MIPS helmets due to previous personal injuries. In the climbing industry, so far, there's only a few of them as I write this: this one, Smith, and two Black Diamond ones. The Black Diamond Capitan was too heavy for me, and the other Black Diamond was a contender, but in the end, the sizing was off, and even the largest size did n't fit my head well. This Wall Rider MIPS helmet is lightweight, comfortable, and so far, it has been durable. I 've used it on 10+ trips over the course of a year, and it has n't shown wear- and- tear, although the white top has gotten scratches( cosmetic) and is no longer pure white. The only downsides I would say are that the chin strap took me a while to dial down the sizing to where I wanted it( the strap barely covers my ears) and that the helmet sometimes covers part of my eyes if I look down too much, not staying in place. That is annoying when I 'm climbing, and sometimes I have to readjust the helmet by pushing it backwards so that it does n't cover part of my top eyesight.

And, I am glad I did!... I just returned from a trip to Bentonville and had a nasty crash on a gap jump I missed. While the helmet did n't prevent me from shattering my collarbone( surgically repaired with 10 pins and a titanium plate), my melon was completely protected and unharmed from my OTB and trail bouncing. In fact, the helmet is no worse for the wear and ready for more action. Why did I chose the Super DH MIPS Helmet? 1) Tons of venting and a super comfy fit( Yes, your head will still get a bit warmer than having no face- guard. But, it's not as bad as many people say.). In fact, I wore it both climbing and descending, as well as on the features I road( I love skinnies). 2) Quick and easy removal of the face- guard( But, it defeats the purpose of having it... it's for unplanned accidents.). 3) Great visibility and glasses or goggles fit it perfectly( I wear slightly larger sunglasses, googles seem like overkill for my riding purposes). 4) DH rated and MIPS technology—Why go full- face if it is n't rated for the most extreme riding you may experience?! 5) Bell history and quality.

My wife has had this helmet for several years. She wore it pretty regularly until this past summer. Last year she decided that helmets were unnecessary and did not really provide much protection and that their effectiveness was overrated. I never wore a helmet so it was no concern to me. Super light and easy to adjust. One thing I will note is that you need to have your hair in a low bun or in braids for it to sit correctly on your head.( I 've been able to get away with french braids before.) If you have a larger forehead I 'd recommend sizing up since the inner band and chin strap is adjustable to get that full frontal lobe coverage! I throw a hat under mine during sunny climbs!

I repeatedly hiked out of ice crags and alpine environments not realizing I ’ m wearing my helmet until I knocked it on the roof of my car while getting in. The best helmet is the one you don ’ t know you ’ re wearing. I previously had an old petzl hard shell helmet and while comfortable, you knew you were wearing a helmet. We ’ ll see how this holds up long term, but after most of an ice climbing season, it ’s still pristine.

I 've used this solely for outdoor rock climbing so far. It's been amazing. The helmet is extremely breathable. It manages to stay on your head while your shifting it around, due to the highly adjustable fit. Numerous people have used it, and its been well liked due the the adjustability. I have used it in cold and rainy weather, and it fits seamlessly into my Mammut Eiger Extreme shell. Overall a great helmet for getting into climbing.

I 've purchased many helmets for climbing/scrambling, and this is by far my favorite. It is lightweight enough that I barely notice it on my head or attached to my pack, it's extremely comfortable, and it fits over a hat if I want to wear one. I also like the low- fuss adjustments of the soft nylon straps in the back, which other helmets that I 've tried often make out of hard plastic, which can be uncomfortable. It fits snug, and though I( thankfully) have n't had to test its performance in a fall/during rockfall, I have no doubt it will do its job. I was a little worried about the durability of the exposed foam, but after carrying it through a heavy hailstorm and generally banging it around in the back of the car or on whatever summit I take it off on, I ca n't spot a single dent.

He only wears if when he is in the woods or trails never on the bike path with the fam. I had started bilking on my day off while the kids were at school. Last week it was raining when i was going to ride. I was going to bag the ride but decided to just wear my rain jacket. As i was headed out i saw my husband ’s helmet hanging there and decided to wear it since the streets would be slippery. I slipped it on and adjusted it up. It is light and fit well. I did have my hood over it so I can not comment on the venting. It did not move and felt very safe.

While climbing helmets are catching up with technology and we 're starting to see helmets with MIPS and other tech, I would say this helmet is going to save your bacon from a rock or moderate wall impact. This is both my first Giro brand helmet and my first MIPS technology helmet. I like how Giro has the side straps set already so that's two less buckles to adjust and loosen on their own. Coming from Bell helmets I had to get used to adjusting the straps by pulling to center them each wear no biggie for better comfort. Speaking of comfort the dial to tighten in the back is much better than Bell helmets. The MIPS technology allows the helmet to move slightly while staying right to your head to reduce injury in a collision. As a former racer, courier, and bicycle commuter I can feel how that would help. I hope I never need it Overall the best helmet I 've ever owned.
