[ I ’ ve used this helmet on warm Southern California slopes and in horrid conditions in British ’s Colombia. It is extremely comfortable and the fit is exceptionally customizable, the magnetic chin strap is awesome and makes everything easy. It would entirely depend on your personal fit and how much headcover you wear under it but the helmet is not particularly warm even with the vents closed. Wearing a balaclava or skull cap barely changes the fit and you can easily fit a helmet accepting hood over it for those extra cruddy days. A nice addition is the adjustable visor which means this helmet will roll with just about every kind of goggle out there. It also has perfect spacing to give just enough venting so there ’s no fogging on those warmer days. Regarding fit I usually run on the extreme edge of medium, this helmet is perfectly true to fit and was just a hair small on me which is what I anticipated. The liner is easily removable to make room for a hat or thicker liner. All in all Oakley did a solid job on this, luckily I haven ’ t given it ’s impact resistance a solid test yet.

First, I really liked this helmet from a comfort and fit perspective. It kept my head dry, fit well without constricting, so no complaints there. Second, I ’ ve referred to my helmet in the past tense because on a recent ski trip( I ’ m a boarder, but my family skis, so I ’ m going with ski trip here) I caught my edge on my last run( I know, I know) and I was slammed into the slope on my back, and I whacked my head on the ground. It was a hard impact. I still got a concussion, but I am certain my helmet saved me from much worse. I ’ ll be replacing my helmet with another Smith. [ Picked this up after I finally realized my old Oakley mod 3 had a few too many bumps and bruises, and I 'm very happy I did. I have oddly sensitive ears and get pain from standard ear pads on most helmets, but the mod5 has ear cups with a hollow space inside that fit perfectly. Helmet has lots of ventilation and does not feel heavy when wearing. Kept me warm on a cold day recently, and with all these vents I 'm sure it 'll be cool in the spring.. I would buy again.

I sadly only got to use this helmet for a few weeks before taking a pretty bad fall on the hill. But I 'm really happy I had it as the mild concussion I got would have been way worse otherwise! My wife wanted me to wear a helmet and bought me this. It was a nice snug fit and very comfortable. It stayed in place so well I quit buckling the chin strap. Well the wife saw the undone chin strap and gave me an earful. Winter inevitably comes. Along with it is the need to continue riding the bike. The classic summer bike helmet just does n't work in the wintertime as it's just too full of holes for ventilation. Enter the Smith Survey Snow helmet. It has enough ventilation to keep the visor from fogging, but not enough to make your head cold. It has better protection than ANY bike helmet. It keeps your ears warm without blocking exterior sounds. The flip up visor allows you to lift it up when needed even if you wear glasses like I do. I wear glasses! I bought this hoping I wouldn ’ t get fogged up anymore. Yes, I no longer have fogged glasses. Yes, it fits small. I wear medium and bought a large. Yes, try it on and make sure it fits your face and glasses. Yes, the product is comfortable Yes, I ski in Tahoe, during some bad storms this year it worked well. Yes, smith has a great warranty and support. No, Yes, some snow might get in between you helmet and forehead. Wear a thin head covering. Yes, it doesn ’ t seal perfectly around your face like goggles. Yes, replacement visors are a thing if you can find them. Yes, smith seems to struggle with supply chain for replacement lenses.

Love the photochromatic lens. Super light helmet barely feels it is on. I added the Aleck nunchucks and it sounds great. A couple of improvements points.( a better protection for the lens when stowed away, maybe a whole helmet rigid case or a rigid cover for the lens. Also, the earmuffs out pressure on the ears when using with the audio system.

I am in love with this helmet, it is so much better than my previous one. It fits great, looks great and the fold down lenses are so convenient. I used to use a separate goggle and helmet system and this is so much easier and less fuss. I ordered a size larger than I thought I needed in order to be able to fit a thin beanie underneath and I made the right choice. My only complaint is the space between the visor and my upper cheek allows cold air in but I think with the right face protection it should be okay. Also I had two Smith bags in the box, not sure if this was an accident or what but I appreciate it all of my other pads fit into it perfectly! Two thumbs up for this helmet and Smith
