So far so good, I 've had things dropped on my head and smacked my head against some pretty hard rock with no apparent issues. Not to mention it's hard to beat the price!

This is a cheap and simple way to add some safety to your climbing. I bought this originally to give my parents some peace of mind but after my girlfriend dropped a quickdraw on my noggin I was happy I had it. This is light enough and durable enough to take with you to any crag. Make sure you use it, I forget sometimes.

I got a couple of these for me and to loan to anyone I go climbing with who may not have one, and so far they 've worked great. They 're very comfortable and very adjustable to fit a lot of different head sizes. I 've taken a few falls out on rock and I I 've definitely collided hard with the rock, but my head has always felt well cushioned.

Great for a beginner! This helmet has protected me from falling rocks while climbing while feeling so comfortable. I usually have issues with adjusting helmets to fit my head properly, and I love how this one is so easy to adjust. Better yet, it did n't cost much too.

This helmet has become part of my daily kit over other less- durable, super light options. It hits the right balance of being light enough to not notice in use, yet does not require delicate handling. I even packed this one in checked luggage for multiple international flights with no cracking or ill effects!

5 handcrack
Quite comfortable and very light. I 'm still getting used to the sliding adjustment band in the back but once set it feels pretty good.

5 Jesse
I bought this because it seemed to be the best value for what I wanted. Very happy with the lower profile fit and built in headlamp attachment. Light, comfortable and easily adjustable. Fit was as said in the product description.

5 IceBlue
I tried on the BD Vector and liked the fit, but not the colors. So I decided to try the new Vision i storm blue and it fits great! It's light and breaths well. I 'm a female with a lot of hair and I wear a hat while ice climbing, so I was glad I ordered the M/L. I like that you can adjust the chin strap back so it fits nicely. Great helmet and would highly recommend it to fellow climbers.

5 Doug M.
Got the Vision helmet on a Wed and went climbing on Sat. The helmet is comfortable and lightweight. Easy to adjust. Looking forward to using this helmet well into the future.

Frequently Asked Questions For Helmets for Mountaineering

When selecting a helmet for mountaineering, consider features such as impact resistance, weight, and ventilation. A good helmet should provide adequate protection without being overly heavy, allowing for comfort during long climbs. Additionally, look for adjustable straps and a secure fit to ensure stability while navigating challenging terrains.

Mountaineering helmets are typically made from materials like polycarbonate, EPS foam, and sometimes a combination of both. Polycarbonate offers durability and impact resistance, while EPS foam provides cushioning during impacts. Some helmets may also feature additional materials for enhanced comfort and breathability.

A properly fitting mountaineering helmet should sit snugly on your head without being too tight. It should cover your forehead and not shift when you move your head. Many helmets come with adjustable straps to help achieve a secure fit, so be sure to test it with various movements to ensure stability.

Yes, there are different styles of mountaineering helmets designed for various activities, such as climbing, skiing, or general mountaineering. Some helmets prioritize lightweight design for alpine climbing, while others may offer more coverage and protection for ice climbing or mixed conditions. Understanding your specific needs will help you choose the right style.

Ventilation is crucial in a mountaineering helmet as it helps regulate temperature and moisture during strenuous activities. A well-ventilated helmet allows for airflow, reducing sweat buildup and keeping you comfortable on long climbs. However, it's important to balance ventilation with protection to ensure safety without compromising comfort.
