This Smith Method Pro MIPS helmet is amazing! The reason that I bought this helmet is because of all the great reviews and studies I read on impact protection. I am one that prefers function over form. However, this helmet accomplished both. The fit is perfect and the helmet really looks great in the military green color that I bought it in. [ Much to my relief, this helmet is pretty warm. It seems that any time I 've gone skiing this year the temps have been in the negatives( Fahrenheit) and evidently there's not a whole lot the helmet is protecting, since I forgot to wear my hat underneath it for a while, but it was a good hour before I was wondering why my ears were starting to get cold. My mountain bike helmet has MIPS, and I 've found out first- hand how well that works, so I have real confidence in the helmet to keep me safe for when I get false confidence in my lacking ability on the slopes. I have been skiing many times is multiple resorts. I am an intermediate skier. I prefer the fun greens/ blues. I can ski black diamonds, but honestly I prefer the ease of skiing rather than the competitiveness. I was skiing an easy run. The run was narrower surrounded with beautiful trees and cabins. I noticed a skied off area where there was a ton of noticeable ice. I attempted to move to the right to avoid most of the icy snow. I did hit a patch, which increased my speed. It was Ll fine but right after the ice patch was a mogul, followed by another larger mogul. After having the speed from the ice hitting that first unexpected mogul sent me in a non- controlled tumble. After hitting the second mogul, I was airborne. My head broke my fall. I remember my head hitting and bouncing back. My husband was right behind me, so I loved right away. I was okay and able to ski home. I made skied away without a concussion, or even worse. I did get whiplash, but no lasting effects. I am a walking advertisement for this life saving helmet. I literally own my life to Smith ski helmets. I am BEYOND grateful for your technology, and safety features. I can not thank you enough. If you ’ re reading this thinking of purchasing a helmet. Do not think twice. It may safe your life too.

Lets start with the quality of the materials. I assumed that before I picked up the helmet it would 've weighed heavier but to my surprise it is pretty lightweight!( In comparison to other companies I have used). The ventilation system worked perfectly. I am a hot bodied individual and during those hard charging days it can be difficult staying cool and keeping your goggles from fogging up. The contour of the helmet matched perfectly with the contour of my Oakley Fall Line XL goggles. Unfortunately I have yet to try it with my other products to provide other users a better review. Only thing I noticed was how much further the goggles stuck out a little because of the helmets short brim. Other than that the smith Maze with MIPS is definitely worth the investment to add to your line- up of safety gear and for the protection of your noggin.

As I found out, the addition of the MIPS to the existing Maze design means that the helmet fits small. I wear a Large in the Smith Holt that I 've had for years, but the Large Maze MIPS is just tight enough to be uncomfortable. I 'll exchange it though, as the fit system was great, vents looked good and the look was perfect. More feedback... the ear covers dampened a lot of sound, more than my Holt ever did.

Unlike other brands, what I love about Smith is the consistency between sizes. If you wear a medium in their bike helmet, you will be medium in their snowboard helmet. If you do not know what size you wear, their size chart is true to the helmet size. As for the Maze, it is truly warm. I do not like helmets with vents on the top, as they can let in snow. This one does not.

I 've just purchased a Vantage helmet for my son after owning one myself for the past year- if these helmets are n't the best on the market then I do n't know what is. Super comfortable fit with good adjustment, light weight, great ventilation and looks great. I 've used mine exclusively off piste in Niseko which can get very cold and windy. The adjustable ventilation is a big plus- the Vantage helmet kept my head and ears warm and toasty on the lifts and nice and cool on the runs down. Some have complained that the adjustable boa catches on the collar of your jacket inadvertently adjusting the fit. While you can occasionally feel it catching, I have not experienced the adjustment changing nor really noticed it. A little expensive but well worth it.

Kids Captain is great! We have some very adventurous kiddos and so having a helmet that is good for both bikes and climbing is such a great design. [ Feel like the title says it all. Been wearing a POC helmet for mountain biking for a few years now and have been completely satisfied with it, so when the time came to get a new road helmet, it was a no- brainer to stick with POC again. Wanted a low profile helmet, with good coverage and lots of ventilation. This helmet checks all the boxes. Could have gone up or down on sizing, but ultimately sized up to give me the flexibility of fitting a cap or thin beanie underneath. Helmet sizing has been easy to adjust and stays put. Totally satisfied.

This is a cheap and simple way to add some safety to your climbing. I bought this originally to give my parents some peace of mind but after my girlfriend dropped a quickdraw on my noggin I was happy I had it. This is light enough and durable enough to take with you to any crag. Make sure you use it, I forget sometimes.

I got a couple of these for me and to loan to anyone I go climbing with who may not have one, and so far they 've worked great. They 're very comfortable and very adjustable to fit a lot of different head sizes. I 've taken a few falls out on rock and I I 've definitely collided hard with the rock, but my head has always felt well cushioned.

[ I bought this helmet in the AVIP orange back in May, so I have been able to wear it for several months now. Although it took me a bit to get used to bulkier appearance when comparing it to my previous[ other major brand] helmet, it does not feel overly large or bulky. It is lightweight and very comfortable. The new MIPS Integra system is very similar to POC's proprietary SPIN technology with the gel pad liners, which are removable and washable. The bright orange is easily visible, which is nice for hunting season as some of the bike trails in Michigan( where I live) allow for hunting... even saw the guts of a deer once that were left literally on the trail.

[ I started with the first MTB helmet POC offered with MIPS( trabec?). That helmet fit well, but the MIPS liner did n't play nice with my glasses or wearing a head band to keep sweat out of my eyes. The ventilation was n't great either. I then got the next generation tectal with the spin. That helmet had great ventilation and did not interfere with glasses or head bands, but it was so low on the brow that the helmet almost sat on my glasses. I also have the POC AVIP octal road helmet for road and gravel rides and the MIPs liner gives me similar fits to the trabec, but less so. I ordered the Kortal solely for the color being close to blaze orange. Living in Maine and riding in Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont in the fall can be terrifying as everyone seems to be out trying to hunt turkey, deer, moose, bear, etc. This turned out to be the best ventilated, best fitting, least obtrusive concussion mitigation system helmet I 've had. And I 'm pretty sure a hunter wo n't confuse me for a deer, moose, bear, or turkey while I 'm wearing this helmet.

[ Been riding with the POC Tectal Race Spin for the past 2 years, that also is a great helmet, but the Kortal mips takes the cake! The actual shell feels a little bit bigger than the Tectal, but the added tech makes me feel safer lol. The AVIP color is awesome too, it's a bright high vis orange!!

[ I 'm a huge fan of the POC Tectal. Used it for 5 years without issue. The kortal has replaced it forever. It fits a little different, but seems to fit more people better than the tectal. I have the L/XL and it fits about the same as the Tectal's XL/XXL( just follow the size numbers). It's coverage is similar but slightly better than the tectal. It's a bit thicker in the forehead and back/rear edge areas, but it's not noticeable while riding. It vents at least as well as the tectal, but I have yet to ride in very hot weather. I have n't crashed with it yet, but it has a ton of coverage. But for all that coverage, it does n't interfere at all while riding. It's the first helmet I 've used in a long time where I do n't notice it at all. The only minor downside is that the visor is somewhat useless at blocking the sun when it's in the medium or higher positions. But that's okay. It act like a scoop, ramming extra air into the vents. I 'll take that trade- off any day of the week. Fantastic helmet. Quality in every aspect, stylish, and I 've no doubt it will be extremely protective.

This was an upgrade from a prior different firm model that wasn&# x27; t MIPS, and a bit uncomfortable( usable, but not great.) This model addressed that( more comfortable), has MIPS, and also has decent audio compatibility( the other did too, but insertion and removal was a pain-- this one&# x27;s easy with the cross zip in the back.) Durability of the liner and such is unknown as its too new, but we&# x27; ll see on that. I do very much like the control over ventilation with the slider on top and that was on my prior helmet as well; I consider that a must since I ski in both extremely cold and warmer conditions and it makes a large difference. Just bought this today in store and it's the best helmet I could 've bought. Priced high enough to not be `` cheap '' and low enough to not cause a heart attack. I prefer this style of helmet over the conventional high ventilation ones, namely because of the aesthetics. Size M fits my noggin quite snug and I feel this will protect me. I 've been riding for years without a helmet, and finally realized, `` huh, this is a little dumb to be biking on busy roads without one. '' While I hope no one buying this ever has to put it to the test, it's a great helmet, and one I actually WANT to wear.
