Just received my brand new Stout 70 from rei. A tad disappointed they didn ’ t have the green or orange, but all in all I ’ m excited to put this to use. It ’s purpose will be to get me thru a 100 mile trek I ’ ll be doing for an autoimmune charity, and I imagine by my first impressions that it will do just fine. Plenty of pockets, included rain cover, and comfy straps. Rei helped me fit it and it seems to be quite functional compared to my old external frame pack from the 90 ’s.

The Kalmia offered great space/ volume per weight, and fit me so well! The adjustable backplate offered needed personalization for fit, and the padding protected me from hotspots without being bulky. The rotating shoulder straps made a difference; I could feel the pack moving with me, instead of against me. The Kalmia 50 is my new go to pack! While this pack offers some personalization, it is n't the pack for everyone. I highly recommend trying the pack on before purchasing, and walking around a bit with some weight added to see how she rides. Overall: well made, great weight to capacity ratio, helpful personalization through various adjustment and tension points, moves with the hiker.

I got this backpack to prepare for my 3 month trip in the Caribbean and it ’s has been so helpful to say the least. I have an overpacking problem but all of the different compartments and pockets made it so I could fit everything I needed. The support on the backside of it helps so much with my back pain and doesn ’ t make me feel exhausted at the end of a busy travel day. Furthermore, the top bit comes off as a smaller backpack which was perfect for day trips. The only thing i would change would be the smaller buckles that attach the front pocket to the bag, they were a little weak. However, I don ’ t have any worry they will come undone when I check it at the airport. Overall, this bag has been a HUGE help!! It definitely has made my traveling much easier.

This is a great backpack for the price. I am giving it 5 stars because it's everything you would want and need in a pack. The middle zipper opening is an amazing feature that allows you to get into your items without having to pull everything out from the top like a conventional pack. One downside are the hip straps. I feel they could be slightly larger for the size of pack, I had some discomfort but nothing terribly bad, likely had more to do with me being out of shape as well. I recommended this to a buddy and he has one and uses it quite often like myself.

I went backpacking in Linville Gorge, NC for three days, and honestly, my best choice was the 65L backpack. It fit what I needed and had plenty of room to spare. The support to keep my back from sweating, the elastic exterior pockets, and the included small daypack are my favorite details. [ The new updated Osprey Rook 65 Performs outstanding. It caries the load very well. While I used it on a winter day hike with only 25 lbs in it I feel it will comfortably carry about 35- 40 lbs. The new Rook series packs 50 and 65 liter are well worth the price they retail for. If you are a well seasoned hiker or a beginner you ca n't go wrong with the Osprey Rook. I used this pack for the first time on a 12 mile round trip overnight stay at a lake. It held everything I needed- I am an over packer too- and I still had room to pack out a few extra things like camp garbage. The hip support pads were nice and cushioned and didn ’ t chafe my skin like other packs, but I did notice my hips more sore than normal the day after. I wish there was more exterior pockets for smaller items, but the top cover having such a large pocket did the trick for me to access things like headlamp, bug spray, and some snacks. I ’ m very loyal to TNF brand and was reluctant to replace my well used spectrum pack, but very happy with my purchase and look forward to more use.

My husband and I have used these for hiking with our Twins since they were 1, now 2 1/2. We mostly use them for day hiking all year around. Our Toddlers try to get into the Carriers by themselves before we are even ready to get them in. They love being on our backs and find it easy to take a nap on our way back down from a summit. Some things that stand out for me; Everything is adjustable, shoulder straps, torso and the hip belt, making it fit your body height and type. This makes carrying a heavy baby or toddler a lot easier. I 'm 5' 3, I 've been carrying my son who is almost 40 pounds. Great alternative to a pannier bag. I actually got the pannier and tote and this backpack to exchange daily based on needs( commute, errands, etc). I give the whole system at 6 out of 5 stars. The backpack itself I wish were a little more full featured, but still worth 5 stars because it doesn ’ t have any hardware on the bag itself. That being said, it ’s low profile and barebones with a laptop sleeve and outside pocket. It holds my laptop, notebook, three water/coffee/smoothie bottles, a raincoat and has room to spare. The waterproof zipper is essential but tough to use frequently due to the curvature of the pack. LOVE the magnetic flap top for fair weather and extra protection when used with the zipper. Haven ’ t tested it in a true downpour but feel comfortable putting my laptop in there when the afternoon storms are brewing. All in all a great system and a good pack. Despite being basic, I love being able to pull out the backpack straps during the day, and not have any hardware on the pack itself. I was leery to purchase without reviews, but the InLock system is fantastic and I ’ m glad I went for it.

[ Been doing intermittent 3- 7 day hikes along North Country Trail. Decided my back country hunting Kifaru Pack was just too heavy for just a week of trail use. Wanted the lightest pack that still had good straps, belt and suspension system. Went with Osprey because of their reputation and couldn ’ t be happier. It drops almost 5 pounds off my other pack just by switching. The suspension system and straps are second to none. If you like( or can get away with) a single opening and compartment main bag this is it. I tried out lighter packs but once loaded up with 20+ lbs of gear their straps and hip belt were much to be desired. This bag just floats on you back making any load “ feel ” 5 lbs lighter. It is ideal for 20- 40lbs loads. If you are packing lighter maybe look at an ultralight, if carting much over 40 pounds look at the sturdier/ heavier options. Everyone else THIS is the pack. At 4 lbs even on my scale for the l/xl it is lighter than almost any other pack in its class. It is almost in the ultralight realm. Fit for LG/XL was square in the middle of adjustment( I am 6 ’ 2 ” 210 lbs, and have longer legs slightly shorter torso compared with men of similiar height). Great BUY! Great Bag! Carries perfectly no one does the 2, suspension system and hip belt like Osprey.

I originally had the Atmos 65 AG a few years ago and changed it out for the Exos 58 when Osprey offered the LT. The torso adjustment is the same as the Exos which works fine. The hip belt adjustment has changed which again works for me. Access to the bottom of the pack t to though a zipper has been eliminated but I never used that anyway. With the weight coming in at just over 4 pounds in nice especially know I have the comfort of the Atmos on my back.

I took it on a trip to Texas as a checked bag. It's a lot comfier than what I used to use in the Marine Corps! I 'm also using it for my 40x40x24x40x40 in celebration of my fortieth year of life. 40 lbs for 40 miles in 24 hours every day for forty days repeated every forty days.( I just turned forty. 😉) I don ’ t recommend loading anything heavier than 40 lbs in it unless you want to feel the weight. This is my first day pack with internal frame. It makes it very comfortable to wear, balancing the weight down onto my hips( even unbelted and even wearing it on one shoulder) and the frame with mesh back keeps my back cooler even in 93 degree humid weather. The pockets are n't ideal. The top front pocket is very small( and if you put a heavy phone there it is unbalanced). The internal( water or laptop) pocket is deep- so anything small put in there is lost to posterity( beware). The water bottle pockets on the side fit a smaller water bottle easily but tougher with anything larger. I used it as a carry on( personal item) and no complaints from the flight attendants about how it fit under the seat in front of me, though the top did stick out a little and I found it to be a bit in the way of stretching my lets. It fit a ton of stuff- I had an umbrella and rain jacket, wallet, cosmetic size bag with electronic cables and earbuds, cosmetic bag with actual cosmetics, book, magazine, two journals, an airport shopping bag( small), and small cosmetic bag with meds in there. There is a helpful clip to attach your neck pillow! It also has a rain cover in a pouch at the bottom that was very useful in a downpour, if a little hard to extract and put in place on the fly.

[ I got this pack for longer day hikes, and specifically for an upcoming trip. Have n't used it for said trip yet, but have used it on local hikes to get a good feel for it and it checks all my boxes. It's uncomplicated( just one main compartment with some exterior storage) and I love the padded hipbelt. Also like the fact that there's compatibility for a water bladder. The side pockets stretch enough to accommodate the large nalgene, and there's a small zipper compartment at top for keys, wallet, etc.

This backpack is very big and sturdy and it can definitely hold a lot of whatever you need. I like that is has additional smaller pockets on the handles and straps to keep small things like wallets, cash, or cards dry and separate from the rest of the items you 're holding. the arm and waist straps are seemingly strong and easy to adjust to proper fit, and they hold the pack in place very securely. It's also nice looking and the easy to remove/attach waterproof cover is an additional plus.

[ I am pretty impressed with this pack. I have a few very high end hunting packs and they always seem to cut off some hip circulation. With a 3 night off trial campsite this pack was fantastic! I was skeptical but this pack performed very well. I really liked the U- zip access, huge hip pockets, and the side pockets that I can grab a waterbottle from while wearing the pack. A couple of things I did n't like: those huge hip pockets left no room for a bear spray holster, there is no way for the lid to double as a separate pack for little jaunts from camp, and the hip belt was maxed tight on my 34 '' waist in the Med/LG frame choice. I ’ ve taken my Gregory Women ’s Jade 24 LT Backpack on two training hikes so far as I prepare for my upcoming trip to Havasu Falls, and it ’s been exactly what I needed. The organization is one of the biggest highlights. The front pocket is perfect for storing food and snacks so I don ’ t have to dig through the main compartment during breaks. Inside the main compartment, I can comfortably fit clothes, toiletries, and a water bladder without everything feeling cramped. I also love the hip belt pockets — they ’ re ideal for quick- access essentials like lip balm, sunscreen, etc… while hiking. The only con is that my phone doesn ’ t fit. I chose the bright yellow color, and I ’ m glad I did because it ’s highly visible and easy to spot. Overall, this pack feels practical, well- designed, and great for day hikes and trip preparation. My girlfriend ordered the extended fit for me not because I 'm morbidly obese but because my shoulders are 3x the size of the normal person. [ The Ariel Plus 85 backpack was a game changer for me. I 'm not a `` professional '' backpacker, so packing everything but the `` kitchen sink '' was a desire. Although I wound up not packing that too, I did manage to get everything I needed, and more, into this pack for a 3 night solo trip. An ultralight tent and a 4. 7 '' high sleeping pad were carried on the outside of the pack, while my mummy- style sleeping bag was in the sleeping bag compartment at the bottom of the bag. Other necessary items took up the rest of the space, with room to spare. Not only was there plenty of room in this bag, but it was incredibly comfortable. I 'm humpbacked, so not many backpacks are comfortable for me. With the adjustable torso feature, I was able to get a truly dialed- in fit and was able to hike without discomfort.

Osprey really outdid themselves with this one, thinking of every little detail for organization and packing this pack. Additionally, the suspension is great and carrying over 40% of my body weight, I felt the weight, but not the pack! I like my comfort and I do not like to be cold and I carry food for my dogs, while they carry the water, therefore, I need all of this space. The only detail that osprey does on all of their packs is that sleeping bag divider is not fully removable, just `` '' disconnect- able '' '' so you still have to carry the divider around with you adding weight and it does get in my way. I have never used it since it prevents me from stuffing every solitary nook and cranny of the bag. Also, when the bag is stuffed, I have never been able to successfully open and then re- close the bottom zipper anyway. Same with the side zippers Osprey has on most of its packs. HOWEVER, they surely did get it right with the front zippers on this pack! You can open the entire front and then re- close it even when fully stuffed! Wonderful!!! Also, the side pockets, unlike other Osprey models, really can be used and things added and taken out even when the pack is fully stuffed. I love the front organization pockets and keep things that I need handy like GPS and maps, etc in one and repellent and netting, or if it is a cold, snowy backpack, gloves and hat, in the other.

I adore this pack. My mom bought the Ariel 85L for me a few years ago( 2021) for my first guiding job, and it has been my companion ever since. The pockets make it easy for me to stay organized and access a variety of gear while on the trail, and the brain turns into a little day pack. The only negative on the day pack feature is that the straps secure with plastic toggles through loops rather than buckles, so they come out when you are n't wearing the pack. This pack is super durable. I have sat on it, accidently thrown it in a beaver pond, checked it at the airport, and much more, and it has n't ripped or shown much wear yet( knock on wood of course). The water bottle pockets have a holster feature, so you can access your bottles without help and fit notebooks, maps, or fuel bottles in the top part of the pocket. I am a notorious over packer, and I can always fit everything I need and still hike comfortably with this pack. If you like ultra light this might not be your pack, but if you want to hike for a long time while staying organized and comfortable this is a great pack.

[ I 'd been using my old pack for 20 years and just bought the Osprey Atmos 65. I just came back from a five day trip in the Beartooths( Montana) and I was glad to have the new pack. It definitely put the weight on my hips and was much easier on my shoulders than my old pack. The suspension system was also great, making this a more comfortable backpack. It's almost 4 pounds lighter than my previous pack as well. I 've only used it 5 days, so ca n't really comment on the long- term durability. I 've had rotator cuff surgery on both shoulders over the past 2 1/2 years so my shoulders appreciated the new pack as well. Very pleased so far.

[ This pack is the perfect size for anything from a weekend to a full week of backpacking. It is very comfortable and can adjust to just about any size. I love all of the added features this pack has, especially the fact it has a large main compartment and then other smaller compartments to fit specialty items. I see see a few reviews about it making a squeaking noise while walking but I have n't noticed that yet.

[ I was actually shocked at the color scheme of this pack, I thought it was all black, but it actually is black and dark green which I really, really liked so that was a pleasant surprise. There is ample storage and a plethora of straps for all the gear. Most of all, it's comfortable! I have n't been able to use it yet but have a trip in the works.

[ The osprey was exactly what I needed with the adjustments in the hip lumbar and shoulders it took a lot of pressure off of my shoulders and transferred it better to the hips and balanced it better. The quality the look everything was just top notch. I have the north face terra 55 but just seemed there wasn ’ t as many adjustments as the osprey. Now I know what all the hype is about with osprey.

I originally bought this pack to walk the Camino de Santiago France, 500 miles. But, it was too tall to use as a carry on bag on the airline. I did train with it and walked a lot of miles through mountains, etc.. Very comfortable and well designed. Everything functions well.

And I have been through every single situation, terrain( minus snow), 10+ flights( a few made made check in bag) camped, hiked, walked through beaches, visited hostels.
