I 've been using this Surge backpack since 2019 and it has been great! I 've heard my family's thoughts on the newer model of the same backpack and they are not as impressed. The straps are more prone to breaking and the seams have started tearing pretty early in the life of their backpack. This being said, my older model has been so great! It's gone through years of hauling notebooks, folders, textbooks, water bottles, and clothes for practice after school. One of the shoulder straps did begin to tear last year( 2024) slightly but a quick stitch- job has got it back to working order. I would definitely buy a North Face backpack again!

Great bag. Great size. I bought this bag to replace another 40L bag I had for work and daily use. I was looking for a bag that had plenty of room in a main compartment, while also being able to hold a laptop and smaller items( pens, small tools, notepad). This bag fit the need great. I recently traveled across the country with it and it held up great. The straps and back panel make it comfortable to wear, the roll top makes throwing and grab large items easy, and it did well holding up to a light snow flurry while I was out( though I feel the material would struggle with a heavy soak). I needed a great weekend travel bag and I can not recommend the Allpa enough. It has enough space for all my items and I do n't feel like I need another bag for stuff. I used it for a week long trip and it was the perfect size. I do n't see myself using another bag for a long time.

I love my new pack, and I am currently traveling with it in South America. The compartments fit my packing cubes perfectly, and the shoulder straps are very comfortable. I ’ m pretty sure I could travel for several months out of this pack, if I stayed in a similar climate zone. I ’ ve been able to carry it on to all of my flights so far, and fits easily in the overhead compartment of the jets I have been on. I had one zipper malfunction of with the top compartment, as the key clip cord was caught in the zipper, and I had to cut the cord to get it open.

I own the Allpa 28L and 35L and this 42L is even greater! It ’s the same great pack but more room and space. Recently took it on a trip and able to carry onboard and fit in the overhead. The materials and compartments are best in the game. A tad bit too big on international flights, but most domestic is fine. This pack surprised me on the upside. For my daily needs, I only need 16 liters, but I carry a 13 '' laptop and want good organization. This pack delivers. It's a very good design and great materials. Well thought out internal organization. My only gripe is the fabric used for the top quick access pocket feels like cheap sweatshirt material. It wo n't scratch sunglasses, but I 'd prefer something a little nicer. That said, I give this pack a thumbs up.

It is exactly what I was looking for in an everyday pack that I can also use for day hikes. The pockets are great, the straps are all adjustable and there even a whistle on the chest strap. Lots of options for attachment of items such as poles on the exterior of the pack. I love the small fleece pocket at the top of the bag. The outer pocket is great for putting wet or smelly items in. The water bottle pockets can be a bit of squeeze if you have a full pack for a Nalgene but it still fits. There is also a hole for a hydration bladder to fit through. Overall great pack for everyday life and day adventures! Love it.

I ’ ve been on the search for a perfect every day tote. I am a mom that went from a huge spacious diaper bag to a crossbody. I wanted an in between that could carry more than just absolute essentials, but also isn ’ t a huge mom bag. This bag is amazing in functionality and also a great bang for your buck. A lot of totes I found were either too small or too large. For example Longchamp. I like the aesthetic, but couldn ’ t find one I liked from a functional perspective. This has a huge pocket in the front where I can throw my lip balms/sticks for quick access. I can put some gum in there, even my wallet. The side pockets I wish held a water bottle, but they do hold my phone or car keys if I don ’ t want to be zipping and unzipping the bag going through a parking lot with my kids. I can hold wet wipes and feminine wipes, snacks for the kids. There are generous compartments on the inside. Luxury bags never have decent compartments. This bag really is a bargain and personally I love the kanken aesthetic. This is the 7th kanken we ’ ve purchased. They ’ re always functional and hold up well. I still have a school bag from 12 years ago and it ’s still good as new. [ I ’ ve had this new backpack for a little over a month now and I ’ m really enjoying it. From a work standpoint, there ’s a cushioned area for my laptop, iPad& other work files in the main pocket. In the secondary pocket that is sealed with Velcro, I carry all of my laptop cords and other miscellaneous supplies. I ’ m surprised how well the Velcro seals and nothing falls out. The side zipper allows me quick access to whatever I need. On top there is a small zipper pocket for my pens, pencils, and a calculator. There is also a water bottle holder on each side. But what I like most about this bag is the blaze orange interior, which helps me to see items that get buried in the bottom of the bag that would normally be difficult to see if it was lined in black. This is ingenious as I ’ ve never had a backpack with this coloration on the interior. I thought it would be annoying, but it is very helpful. I ’ m new to mystery ranch, but I am now hooked on their products! I have a new hunting backpack that I recently purchased, and it is outstanding! I love this bag- I bought it to use for grad school and love the size, the water bottle holders and the front vertical zip pocket... I thought things might fall out of it when unzipping but that it's the case and its really easy to get into the pocket.

Excellent “ one bag ”( or technically two) for North/South America& Europe. It may be a bit cumbersome for SE Asia, but great for everywhere else and you could probably squeak by there as well. Removable daypack fits under seats perfectly. Great all around bag set up if you want to avoid checking bags. Great suspension on the main bag as well. Nearly as good as my EXOS& Talon backpacking bags and plenty good for train/plane/bus travels. Durable quality and strong zippers. I use it with packing cubes to keep everything organized, which works great. One of the low key best parts is separating the packs before boarding and stowing all the backpack straps. It makes boarding without hitting people with straps a breeze! The internal pockets can replace a tech pouch of needed and the the other internal pouch is great for a catch all or separated dirty clothes. 10/10 would buy it again for sure.

I recently used the Farpoint 55 on a 10 day trip across France. The main bag had plenty of room for all of my clothing and a spare pair of shoes. The day pack was great for stashing a few extra layers and keeping my essentials accessible. Love the ability to carry the entire unit as one backpack, convert the main bag to a carry- on and hide all the straps, as well as front carry the day pack. I used all three configurations on my trip. So glad I went with this over a roller bag.

This is a great pack for both car and airline travel. I pack smart with packing compressors packing cubes but I wouldn ’ t say I pack light and I had plenty of space. The waist belt allows me to comfortably carry this pack through the airport. The straps stow easily and it fits in the overhead bin.

The straps can be hidden with a zippable cover that is stowed away in a pocket at the bottom of the pack as well. I don ’ t think this backpack is for everyone but for me it ’s a game changer. I travel a lot with a work laptop, work clothes, and a second very big wheelie case with equipment. I don ’ t want two wheelie cases( awkward through stations) and I do want a separate laptop pack for work. This fits the bill perfectly. I had the previous model but I needed carry on.
