Great alternative to a pannier bag. I actually got the pannier and tote and this backpack to exchange daily based on needs( commute, errands, etc). I give the whole system at 6 out of 5 stars. That being said, it ’s low profile and barebones with a laptop sleeve and outside pocket. It holds my laptop, notebook, three water/coffee/smoothie bottles, a raincoat and has room to spare. The waterproof zipper is essential but tough to use frequently due to the curvature of the pack. LOVE the magnetic flap top for fair weather and extra protection when used with the zipper. Haven ’ t tested it in a true downpour but feel comfortable putting my laptop in there when the afternoon storms are brewing. All in all a great system and a good pack. Despite being basic, I love being able to pull out the backpack straps during the day, and not have any hardware on the pack itself. I am a 35 years old nomad, and I 've been a nomad since my childhood( thank you, mom and dad!). So you can imagine that I ’ ve gone through my fair share of travel gear. But five years ago, I made the switch to this backpack, and let me tell you: it changed the game!! This isn ’ t just a bag; it ’s my life in carry- on form. We ’ re talking everything: clothes, two laptops, cameras, wires, other electronics, toiletries, you name it... I even managed to attach a tripod and camping tent on the front face for a while.( Who even designs something that versatile? Genius!!!) I am not the most careful person with my belongings, so backpack has seen it all. I ’ ve flown on airlines across every continent, and not once did it get issues using it as a carry- on. Okay, there was that one tiny plane where it wouldn ’ t fit in the overhead bin. But I found an easy solution: I pulled out my laptops, slid this backpack under the seat, and we were good to go.( Sure, the flight was cramped, but blame the plane, not the backpack 😂) It ’s not just about the space, though. This bag is comfy to carry for hours, perfectly balanced, with multiple carrying options and a sternum strap that ’s somehow both lightweight and super durable. And yes, it ’s heavier than my previous bags. But I ca n't complain, because it ’s built to last. Five years of travel( and trust me, my trips are not gentle), and it still looks like I just bought it. No scratches, no tears, not much wear( you can see it in the pic, although the backpack was super dirty on one of those pics lol). And I loooove the water resistance. This thing has survived downpours that left me drenched while my gear stayed dry. Mind you, I have my stuff inside plastic bags inside my backpack, just in case. But the last few times, nothing inside got wet anyway. I haven ’ t tested it recently, and I know that the water resistance may decrease over the years... but from my past experiences, it ’s never let me down.( I ’ ll update this review if that ever changes) If you ’ re on the fence because of the price, but you are looking for something to use for years, let me save you some time: just get it. After five years, I can ’ t imagine using another backpack. It ’s my ultimate travel companion, and if ever it breaks, I would buy another one for sure. I hope this helps someone!!!

It is 3 kg in weight and size is perfect to be used as cabin bag for flights. There is separate space to carry 2 laptop, one ipad safely. I specially liked the side pockets which can fit big bottle and has multiple other pockets inside it secured by chain. Chain and zip are thick and of high quality. There are multiple pockets and spaces which is great to pack your things in an organized way. It has belt on the back which fits on a stroller bag when you are traveling on flights. The straps fits on your shoulder snuggly and has strap to tie it from front so that is doesn ’ t slip. It is perfect for long travel and there is so much space inside it that can surprisingly fit so much inside it. [ I got this pack for longer day hikes, and specifically for an upcoming trip. Have n't used it for said trip yet, but have used it on local hikes to get a good feel for it and it checks all my boxes. It's uncomplicated( just one main compartment with some exterior storage) and I love the padded hipbelt. Also like the fact that there's compatibility for a water bladder. The side pockets stretch enough to accommodate the large nalgene, and there's a small zipper compartment at top for keys, wallet, etc.

Had this a couple of months and just took my first trip. I bought a pair of ski boots and checked them with my luggage. On my return trip I was worried they would get banged up so a light bulb went off. Could I possibly fit two huge size twelve ski boots in my Peak design. Holy crap. They fit like a glove. As if they were designed for the bag. Bonus, I said hmmmm. I wonder if I can use the straps to tie my helmet to the outside. boom works perfectly. And I also put my tech bag, lap top, iPad, kindle, head phones, goggles, etc in the bag and I need even need to expand to 45 liters. I also bought the sling bag which I carry in the bag and use as a day pack, it takes up zero room in the bag. Oh and I am still finding little compartments I did n't know where there. I love my Big Agnes 32L pack for long trips abroad but sometimes you need a smaller pack for hikes, light travel, etc. This Osprey fills the bill and I am very impressed with the design. They are well known for the quality and it is obvious in this pack.

This is my first day pack with internal frame. It makes it very comfortable to wear, balancing the weight down onto my hips( even unbelted and even wearing it on one shoulder) and the frame with mesh back keeps my back cooler even in 93 degree humid weather. The pockets are n't ideal. The top front pocket is very small( and if you put a heavy phone there it is unbalanced). The internal( water or laptop) pocket is deep- so anything small put in there is lost to posterity( beware). The water bottle pockets on the side fit a smaller water bottle easily but tougher with anything larger. I used it as a carry on( personal item) and no complaints from the flight attendants about how it fit under the seat in front of me, though the top did stick out a little and I found it to be a bit in the way of stretching my lets. It fit a ton of stuff- I had an umbrella and rain jacket, wallet, cosmetic size bag with electronic cables and earbuds, cosmetic bag with actual cosmetics, book, magazine, two journals, an airport shopping bag( small), and small cosmetic bag with meds in there. There is a helpful clip to attach your neck pillow! It also has a rain cover in a pouch at the bottom that was very useful in a downpour, if a little hard to extract and put in place on the fly.

This backpack is very big and sturdy and it can definitely hold a lot of whatever you need. I like that is has additional smaller pockets on the handles and straps to keep small things like wallets, cash, or cards dry and separate from the rest of the items you 're holding. the arm and waist straps are seemingly strong and easy to adjust to proper fit, and they hold the pack in place very securely. It's also nice looking and the easy to remove/attach waterproof cover is an additional plus.

I mainly carry my bottle, an iPad, and a couple wires. Sometimes throw an extra shirt in there too if I ’ m going to the gym. It ’s a great bag for a day hike where all one needs is a hoodie, water, sunscreen, battery pack, and other small necessities. It ’s gone on quite a few day hikes with me and works great.
