I took a pretty big slam to the back of my head on my first ride with this helmet and I ’ m not brain dead so I ’ m gon na say it works as advertised. Im actually pretty surprised the helmet is still intact as well. I didn ’ t feel hot or cold with it, so that ’s cool. Style is subjective.

[ Was sick of renting crappy ski helmets. Finally bit the bullet and splurge, worth it. So comfortable, it comes with a helmet liner which is nice if it ’s cold. It was super cold so I wore a smartwool liner, it had enough room for another liner. Didn ’ t have to use the vents yet since it was super cold, so I can ’ t comment on that feature. The magnet clip is really nice, makes it much easier to buckle/unbuckle helmet with gloves on.

bad: i 've worn a size L my entire life in smith. for some reason this helmet runs super small and gives me a massive headache. so SIZE UP. it's also a good bit heavier feeling than my previous variance. the great: the helmet is super tech heavy. the venting is great, and the thing just* feels* so much more solid and secure than any helmet i 've ever worn. i hope to never test it out in an accident, but if i do, i feel good about how it will treat me.

I have a `` medium '' sized head( when wearing adjustable trucker hats I snap over 3- 4 holes) but I went with the large since I ride with a beanie about half the time. Without a beanie it is on about it's tightest setting and fits perfect. I have fallen on this thing twice both times very rough falls. I fell so hard the first time I would have had a SEVERE concussion if not wearing a helmet. No cracks or anything and the helmet handled it just fine. Back to the slopes I go!

So, this helmet might not be the most inexpensive but it is a name brand from a trusted retailer( I will not take my chance on other sites where they may try to pass a counterfeit), it is light and comfortable, warm, and looks good. The vents direct air to the inside of my goggles to help with preventing fog. My hand hit the dial on back which loosened the helmet only once by accident. [ Picked this up after I finally realized my old Oakley mod 3 had a few too many bumps and bruises, and I 'm very happy I did. I have oddly sensitive ears and get pain from standard ear pads on most helmets, but the mod5 has ear cups with a hollow space inside that fit perfectly. Winter inevitably comes. Along with it is the need to continue riding the bike. The classic summer bike helmet just does n't work in the wintertime as it's just too full of holes for ventilation. Enter the Smith Survey Snow helmet. It has enough ventilation to keep the visor from fogging, but not enough to make your head cold. It has better protection than ANY bike helmet. It keeps your ears warm without blocking exterior sounds. The flip up visor allows you to lift it up when needed even if you wear glasses like I do. Love the photochromatic lens. Super light helmet barely feels it is on. I added the Aleck nunchucks and it sounds great. A couple of improvements points.( a better protection for the lens when stowed away, maybe a whole helmet rigid case or a rigid cover for the lens. I used to use a separate goggle and helmet system and this is so much easier and less fuss. I ordered a size larger than I thought I needed in order to be able to fit a thin beanie underneath and I made the right choice. My only complaint is the space between the visor and my upper cheek allows cold air in but I think with the right face protection it should be okay. [ I ’ ve used this helmet on warm Southern California slopes and in horrid conditions in British ’s Colombia. It is extremely comfortable and the fit is exceptionally customizable, the magnetic chin strap is awesome and makes everything easy. It would entirely depend on your personal fit and how much headcover you wear under it but the helmet is not particularly warm even with the vents closed. Wearing a balaclava or skull cap barely changes the fit and you can easily fit a helmet accepting hood over it for those extra cruddy days. A nice addition is the adjustable visor which means this helmet will roll with just about every kind of goggle out there. It also has perfect spacing to give just enough venting so there ’s no fogging on those warmer days. Regarding fit I usually run on the extreme edge of medium, this helmet is perfectly true to fit and was just a hair small on me which is what I anticipated. The liner is easily removable to make room for a hat or thicker liner. All in all Oakley did a solid job on this, luckily I haven ’ t given it ’s impact resistance a solid test yet.
