I took a pretty big slam to the back of my head on my first ride with this helmet and I ’ m not brain dead so I ’ m gon na say it works as advertised. Im actually pretty surprised the helmet is still intact as well. I didn ’ t feel hot or cold with it, so that ’s cool. Style is subjective.

[ Picked this up after I finally realized my old Oakley mod 3 had a few too many bumps and bruises, and I 'm very happy I did. I have oddly sensitive ears and get pain from standard ear pads on most helmets, but the mod5 has ear cups with a hollow space inside that fit perfectly. [ There's no such thing as a safe, light, and inexpensive helmet... you ca n't have all three. So, this helmet might not be the most inexpensive but it is a name brand from a trusted retailer( I will not take my chance on other sites where they may try to pass a counterfeit), it is light and comfortable, warm, and looks good. The vents direct air to the inside of my goggles to help with preventing fog. My hand hit the dial on back which loosened the helmet only once by accident. bad: i 've worn a size L my entire life in smith. for some reason this helmet runs super small and gives me a massive headache. so SIZE UP. it's also a good bit heavier feeling than my previous variance. the great: the helmet is super tech heavy. the venting is great, and the thing just* feels* so much more solid and secure than any helmet i 've ever worn. i hope to never test it out in an accident, but if i do, i feel good about how it will treat me.

I ’ m writing this review as a retire this helmet after two 50+ day seasons and some gnarly smashes. Top notch in every aspect…fit, feel, warm when the vents are closed and cool when they ’ re open and the ear pieces removed. I sadly only got to use this helmet for a few weeks before taking a pretty bad fall on the hill. But I 'm really happy I had it as the mild concussion I got would have been way worse otherwise! I 'm planning to reorder the same one as it did its job well( and is very comfortable and warm!) I do n't recommend the falling but I do recommend the helmet!

Solid helmet with a great fit/integration with Smith Squad Mag Googles. MIPS makes the helmet fit smaller than advertised, but this was OK for me. If you are at the upper end of the size limit, be wary. Pretty warm, which is great for our cloudy midwest days. Earmuffs definitely make it harder to hear people talking to you.

Winter inevitably comes. Along with it is the need to continue riding the bike. The classic summer bike helmet just does n't work in the wintertime as it's just too full of holes for ventilation. Enter the Smith Survey Snow helmet. It has enough ventilation to keep the visor from fogging, but not enough to make your head cold. It has better protection than ANY bike helmet. It keeps your ears warm without blocking exterior sounds. The flip up visor allows you to lift it up when needed even if you wear glasses like I do. I wear glasses! I bought this hoping I wouldn ’ t get fogged up anymore. Yes, I no longer have fogged glasses. Yes, it fits small. I wear medium and bought a large. Yes, try it on and make sure it fits your face and glasses. Yes, the product is comfortable Yes, I ski in Tahoe, during some bad storms this year it worked well. Yes, smith has a great warranty and support. No, Yes, some snow might get in between you helmet and forehead. Wear a thin head covering. Yes, it doesn ’ t seal perfectly around your face like goggles. Yes, replacement visors are a thing if you can find them. Yes, smith seems to struggle with supply chain for replacement lenses.

Love the photochromatic lens. Super light helmet barely feels it is on. I added the Aleck nunchucks and it sounds great. A couple of improvements points.( a better protection for the lens when stowed away, maybe a whole helmet rigid case or a rigid cover for the lens. Also, the earmuffs out pressure on the ears when using with the audio system.

I am in love with this helmet, it is so much better than my previous one. It fits great, looks great and the fold down lenses are so convenient. I used to use a separate goggle and helmet system and this is so much easier and less fuss. I ordered a size larger than I thought I needed in order to be able to fit a thin beanie underneath and I made the right choice. My only complaint is the space between the visor and my upper cheek allows cold air in but I think with the right face protection it should be okay.
