This is my third purchase and installation of a YakGear anchor trolley kit. I loved it on my first two kayaks and had to have it for my new Pelican Catch 100 also purchased from Dick ’s. I often fish areas where winds and/or currents carry me away from a hot spot and force me to quit fishing in order to paddle back to where the fish are. The trolley allows me to stay put and to be pointed in the right direction at the same time. Installation was easy thanks to multiple how- to videos on the internet. Only tools required are a drill and a Phillips screwdriver or rivet gun. Great product at a good price.

It might have been better if we bought two separate units so they could be closer to the side of the Rav. I 've had this carrier for many years, and it's still in use. I 've had up to five boats attached to this thing, and probably could have gotten away with six, but we did n't have another one to throw up top. My current vehicle is limited to only three kayaks due to the design of the vehicle's roof rack. As long as the roof rack is wide enough, it will handle four kayaks. As a side note, I only carried the five kayaks for a few miles under 35 mph! But with four up top, it 'll handle freeway speeds just fine so long as your roof system can handle it. Thule, keep making this thing!

If you are putting this on an Xsporter remember to use the Xadapt 3 adapter kit. There is a link to it in the technical specifcations area on this page. Rope seems soft but has n't worn out after a few years use. Just something I keep an eye on. Works well. This was a cinch to use straight out of the box. I had to drive to the Boundary Waters at high speeds and then on some back country roads. The canoe was solidly placed with the attached belly straps. I had to use a front anchor strap of my own to keep it centered. I would be the only negative I had. Sure beats the foam pads I 've been using for the last few years. It a nice alternative to buying a Thule rack for hundreds more.

I placed this on a 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited with factory crossbars. These worked great for holding a 16 foot canoe. Never moved and protected the vehicle. I would give it five stars if there was a way to lock the mounts to the car( None of the other canoe carrier companies had locks either. ie thule, Yakima) It would be nice if you did not have to undo all the screws each time you removed the mount from the car, but not a big deal. I would recommend this and I would buy it again.

[ This is better and more creative than the online description. It has a semi- rigid insert to hold shape, the interior dry bag is attached with loop-&- hook( Velcro), and there are a couple of ways to secure it on the deck of your kayak. Because some powerboat drivers have not paid close attention, I do prefer bright colors when crossing a lakes. And, of course, bright colors are easier for bush pilots to spot. I do wish it came in a bright color similar to a safety vest.

Used on a self support kayak trip on the middle fork of salmon in Idaho. Ran it on the front deck but mounted so the access end was toward the bow. In reverse the angle makes it easy to read a waterproof map in the bungees and did not interfere with strokes. Great for extra jacket, lunch, and small dry box. We were needing a system that allowed us to hang our two 12' kayaks on our garage wall, and allow easy access by one or two individuals, when needed. This system seems very sturdy and does not use up more space than is needed to hold both kayaks. The product instructions gave suggestions for best installation distance between the arms, but we wished we had measured our paddles before deciding distance to place the arms.

The rack system came before expected delivery date. More impoertantly it was easy to install and is very sturdy. I have both of my 10 foot kayaks up out of the way now. I also have the paddles behind the top kayak on the rack and rigged another pole acroos the front of the top kayak on the rack to hang our five lacrosse sticks. Very pleased with purchase.

I am very happy with my purchase of the Malone J- dock Kayak& Gear storage rack. Installation was easy. I did use a bigger drill bit than instructed to drill the pilot holes for the screws, and used socket rather than a wrench to make it easier on myself. The whole installation was about 20 minutes. Once installed, placing my kayaks in the cradles took about 10 minutes. The straps to hang the second kayak did not ratchet as easily as I would have liked, and I suggest using your own straps, having help to take weight off the straps while you ratchet them up, or using something under the kayak to hold it up while you tighten the straps. Either way, once they kayak is up and the straps tightened the kayaks are secure and the system is great! I also liked having the ability to store my paddles on the rack.
