This will work well for you, if you realize how to use Cast Iron. It will heat slowly with the first pie and then probably burn if you do n't pay close attention. After that they will come out of the fire perfectly toasted and fairly fast. We had one as kids for camping with our family. It lasted over 40 years and one of my siblings has it now. I bought one for our family, so we could enjoy the same memories! Not very expensive either!

I am often guilty of associating price with quality. So when looking for a pie iron for motorcycle camping I bought a Rome pie iron for more than 2x price of the Coghlan ’s version, but found the 28 ” handles don ’ t detach so they wont fit in my panniers. I bought the Coghlan ’s whose handles unscrew and therefore fit in my panniers and they also make pies just as well as the Rome version. I recently ordered both the 9 '' and 10 '' pie pans. I figured I could use the 9 '' for my typical pie recipes and the 10 '' for making really big pot pies. Well, the pans are a bit smaller than expected. The 10 '' is about right for most of my recipes, and the 9 '' is a bit small. Not to worry though, I guess I can use my 10 '' skillet for making pies that are more voluminous. I did take some sand paper to the surface of this pan to knock off the rough texture, then I re- seasoned on my Camp Chef Pro 60. Really a quick process and now the finish is perfect. I love this new pan, and I 've already baked an apple pie and a pot pie. Both turned out amazing with my all- butter homemade crust.

I just love this pizza pan! I spread a little corn meal on the pan and either make my own crust and pizza or I put a frozen pizza in the pan. Both turn out so deliciously. I used lump charcoal for my first cook and this grill did an excellent job and is easily going to be the perfect side kick to my sous vide cooks that need a sear. The grate is an improvement to the Lodge Sportsman in many ways. First it has no logo which in my opinion allows for more searing space. Second the grates are ribbed which easily help hold foods that are prone to rolling around loke hot dogs in place. These are sturdy and well- made with nice, long handles. Quality materials. The dishes are a little deeper than the cheaper irons, so they can hold more filling and give more `` bend '' to the middle of the bread. They worked great for grilled cheese and pies. One thing I should note is that when I was looking at purchasing this, I contacted CC to see if this would work on my cache cooker( a camp chef product from the 90s or so) and they all said that it would not. I am glad to report that it does, so if you have one of those, you are good to buy it.

[ Not so heavy, not too big. As a not very strong woman I can easily pick it up. I use it at home and outdoor. The main deep pot I use to cook 1- 3 cup rice rice at home. For outdoor it will be the only pot you need if you only have 1- 2 people camping. Even works if you have a small kid with you.
