We play catch( even inside now that it ’s super cold and snowy) with no worries about getting hurt or fear of the ball that she got from a regular softball. Tennis balls were a nice thing for a while but the fact that this is the right size and weight really helps her get a good feel in her glove for the ball and what to expect when catching the ball she will be using in spring. We have 10 of these and use them all the time. Every good coach knows he must always practice basic fundamentals and this is a core component to our practices. We use them for ground ball and popup practices. Our boys square in front of the ball and use the alligator hand approach on grounds in games and two hands during pop ups. A fun thing we do at the end of practice is use a softball sized foam ball, softhands and regular composite bats. Split the boys into two teams and play a game at the end of practice.
