First of all it had to fit our puppy( which it did) but after that our priorities were: 1) lightweight, 2) easy to put on/off, and 3) versatility( occasion, leash attachments etc.) and this product met all our expectations. [ Bought for a smaller dog and followed the sizing advice. It fits great, is light, and looks very comfortable on our dog. All the important seams looks as strong as they could make them. Real metal ring for the leash snap is also a big plus. I do n't know for sure if it 'll hold up for years without using it for years, but I 'd give it very good odds. A big step up from the cheap one we got from a local store.

When she fell off the kayak out in the middle of the lake, the handle built into the back made it easy to get her back on the deck. I purchased 2 other brand vest from other suppliers, and though the fit was okay the support provided by the vests were less than 3 1/2 lbs. On my 56 lb Aussie it was fashionable only. The `` BayDog '' Monterey Bay life vest is very well made with extra stiching at all of the strap and clip points, adjustable straps make custom fitting a breeze.
