After some use, this new Made in the USA gerber blade performs well. I used it while camping and it did great for al, the tasks I asked of it. It carved sticks, created kindling and fuzz sticks for a fire, sparked a ferro rod, cut rope, and sliced up our meat for supper. The sheath is well thought out and allows for multiple carry options. The handle fit my hand well and was very grippy in all conditions. I ordered a fine edge from an Internet site, and received a serrated in the box. Gerber's customer service was awesome, and quickly replaced it with the fine edge version that was supposed to be in the box.

Back in my Active Duty days, I carried a Gerber Mark2 in my ruck. So Brand Loyalty is key here, I 'm not a full on Gerber Fanboy, but their designs and innovations speak to this former Grunt, and now retired but still running Precision Rifle matches. My EDC was the Gerber LST( light and SS for corrosion concerns). My current EDC is the Gerber Swagger. I sprung for this StongArm because I found the Prodigy and LMF and Infantry knives/sheaths a bit on the heavy side. Enter 2015 and the StongArm.... What can I say that has not been said. Great for BOB knife, SHTF, Zombie Apocalypse and plain old GTFO/ Get Home bag. I 'm no longer wearing a plate carrier so a simple FLC with MOLLE will see this knife. My Maxpedition bags all have MOLLE so this GTFO/SHTF knife mounts with amazing flexibility. And for my 2017 Taco truck the BG Ultimate Pro will reside in the cubby. This StrongArm will always reside in my GTFO gear, though. I do have an axe for the truck so I 'm not concerned about chopping, but I 'm super pleased to know from the YouTube reviews, that these knives can hold their own. This is one of the few Gerber blades still made in the USA. I love the grip and it has good heft. It could be slightly better balanced but overall is an excellent knife. They say you get what you pay for... and this knife is worth the few extra dollars. The release on the sheath takes a little breaking in, but it is MOLLE compatible and they included a strap for drop/thigh wear. I am very satisfied and will be purchasing again as a gift.

If you prefer light weight knives then this knife is n't for you. This thing is clunky to say the least, but it's very well balanced. So far I have n't seen any sights of wear on the handle caused by taking it in and out of its sheath like some of the other reviews talked about. As for the sheath I do n't have a single negative thing to say, this thing is awesome. It came with two adjustable leg straps and unlike the gator pro machete it's 100% compatible for both right and left hand carry which is huge for lefties such as myself. Finally, with a field sharpener built into the sheath gerber thought of every thing. I did a lot of research before purchasing the LMF ii and for the money nothing else came close to having as big of a bang for your buck. I 'm sure there are better knives on the market but not for under$ 100.

My wife and son bought me this knife for my birthday. We are regular hikers, campers, hunters, and outdoors people. It is razor sharp, holds and edge and is not a bear to sharpen. It is a pleasure to use and is light in the hand. the largest draw back is the handle is somewhat small( around), and the sheath is borderline awful. I bought this knife because this was the knife Rick Grimes tossed Randyl in the `` 18 Miles Out '' school sceen. on AMC `` The Walking dead. I saw it cut through Randyl's Wrist binding like butter. I stopped action on the DVR and researched the weapon. I also bought the myth Sharpener. This is a `` high quality '' tool with full tang and should offer years of service. I just need to add a lanyard rope because I am on the river a great deal.

Awesome knife! I bought it cause I hate sharpening knives. I have to cut ropes and nylon straps through out my work day. Its just so nice to toss the blade and install a new in a matter of seconds. The blades last long and are incredibly sharp. My one complaint/ concern is where I can buy new blades.

I have used this knife to field dress two mule deer, three whitetail, a turkey, and several grouse and rabbits. The knife is heavy compared to others I have at the same size but I like that substantial feeling and it is more difficult to flip compared to knives with a thumb stud but because of that the blade never gets hung up by the stud.

Great knife. I 've owned it for over 3 years, and carry it every day. Once you get used to the design, opens very easily with one hand, and holds an edge very well. Thick and sturdy blade has never malfunctioned. I sharpen about every 3- 4 weeks and one drop of oil on the hinge. No complaints.

Honestly a really good knife. It was given to me as a door prize for a National Guard competition. At first I was n't impressed with the design, but time after time this knife has been the one I have turned to. It sharpens up to a razor edge with no trouble and holds a edge extremely well. The unusual hinge mechanism is extremely durable. Other folders' pins would have certainly loosened or altogether sheared off under the abuse I have put this knife.

i have had this knife for years and it has yet to break on me. durable and affordable. i have had to only sharpen it three times and i use it daily. serration is great for line cutting. perfect size and weight and it fits perfectly in my hand. no problem with screws and no problem with dullness. i like that it takes two hands to open but even then if you do it right you can open it with one hand with no swinging.

I got this knife about 2 months ago and it's great. Razor sharp out of the box and it's super durable. It's got this secure feeling when you hold it. The locking mechanism is great too. It's a frame lock and is really easy to open and close.

Bought knife in 2010 the knife has great edge retention very durable perfect edc And a great camping knife I droped the knife onto concrete once and bent the tip of the blade but sharpened it good and it was good as new. it is now 2014 and I figure I have used the knife about 500+ times and only had to sharpen it about 5 times
