I use a Penn 309MCP reel and works for catfishing. Most of the catfish I catch does n't need this heavy of a setup, but I have had a few get away due to size.

This rod is like a dream guy it ’s sensitive yet strong. Pretty and tough. Nice you you and mean to the catfish this sucker right here will sling your bait to the other side of the Atlantic like you are Posidon or something.

5 JDMedd
I just got mine in the mail today and did not expect to be comparing it to my St Croix musky Rods but it is very comparable. I love the extended handle, which is a rare, but useful feature. The oversized heavy duty glass eyes will allow smooth casting of heavy line, good backbone, and charchuse for night anglers. Not just a rod for soaking stink baits.

5 BALLUSSA
Got this in the mail and boy I was so surprised on how big and heavy duty this rod was. I will take it to the beach for sure. Got it for cat fishing.

Just bought this today, and even though there was no tag or barcode, we were able to find it on the register. It said on the tag, spinning rod, yet it works perfectly with a conventional reel. I was casting it across my yard( 100ish feet). My friend,

I have bought the 9' before and it was great. I decided to try the 7' and was not disappointed. What a great value

5 LKS10
First impressions of this rod are good. I bought the 9' combo in the blue camo. The quality is better than I imagined. The rod is sensitive and has good action to the tip. The reel is bigger than I expected and was prespooled with monofilament line. For anyone wondering the 9' combo is medium heavy power with medium action. It is rated for 12- 25 pound line and can cast 3/4 oz to 2 1/2 oz weights.

5 TL44
Really nice fishing pole for the price. Very durable.

Needed a good saltwater rod for my son to get started fishing inshore. Great value and easy set up.

Frequently Asked Questions For Glass Rod

Glass rods are known for their flexibility and durability, making them ideal for various fishing techniques. They provide excellent sensitivity, allowing anglers to detect subtle bites while also offering a forgiving action that can help prevent breakage during fights with larger fish. Additionally, glass rods are often more affordable than their graphite counterparts, making them a great choice for both beginners and seasoned anglers.

Glass rods are particularly well-suited for techniques that require a slower action, such as crankbait fishing or trolling. Their ability to absorb shock makes them effective for catching larger species, as they can handle the stress of a hard-fighting fish. Furthermore, they are versatile enough to be used in freshwater and saltwater environments, depending on the specific design and construction.

While glass rods are generally heavier and less sensitive than graphite rods, they excel in providing a more forgiving action, which can be beneficial for certain fishing styles. Glass rods are often preferred for techniques that require a slower presentation, as they can help prevent fish from feeling the resistance of the line. Ultimately, the choice between glass and graphite depends on the angler's preferences and the specific fishing conditions.

When selecting a glass rod, consider factors such as the rod's length, power, and action to ensure it matches your fishing style and target species. Additionally, look for features like the rod's construction materials and guides, as these can impact performance and durability. It's also important to think about the type of reel you plan to pair with the rod for optimal balance and performance.

Yes, glass rods are often recommended for beginners due to their durability and forgiving nature. They can help new anglers learn the basics of fishing techniques without the worry of breaking the rod during use. Additionally, their affordability makes them a practical choice for those just starting out in the sport.
