All I did was work some boot dressing into the INSIDE of the top of the boot shaft( the leather area), right where it meets( and rubs against) the tongue.( In other words, inside the boot, just opposite the very top lace anchor.) WALA- no more squeak!

This boot the sizing has changed slightly they are smaller in the toe box. I went with a half size larger but I probably could have stayed with my regular size 10 and just broke them in. They are to me a light version on the quest boots that are much heavier and clunck than these. I 've bought a few different salomon hiking boots over the years and you ca n't go wrong if you are a day hiker with these they are agile and do n't slip dry or wet they get the job done and protect your feet in every situation. Excellent boots for summer to fall hiking that will last.

[ When you find a pair that fits you as if it was made for you. You stick with them. Usually, brands tweak things over the years so when you need a new paired, you ’ re screwed! These are a classic. The first pair I bought myself in 2014, side by side with their replacement that just arrived today. Pulled them out of the box and it was like meeting an old friend that hasn ’ t changed a bit. The fit and feel, perfection. Now, I literally hiked the soles off of the old pair. The toes cracked. Laces frayed but original. Should I have replaced them awhile ago- I did with the charcoal version. But kept these in my closet as a remembrance of my first pair of hikers that took me through the PCT AT. This is my forth pair of these shoes. I wear them every day( whether I 'm going hiking or going to work) and they me last 4- 5 years. I like them because they 're very comfortable and the GORE- TEX keeps my feet dry. They also get a great grip on the trail and protect my feet from all manner of trail hazards. On the negative side, the sole separates from the shoe after a few years. It ’s possible to glue the sole back on, but for what these cost, the soles shouldn ’ t come unglued.

I love these Merrells. They are sturdy, stable and feel like a running shoe. This is my 3rd pair. I have these also in a wide and is a low quarter version. I use them for hiking, dog walking in the rain and snow and walking around our land. I have used them in pouring rain and my feet stayed dry. I dont think they are sturdy enough for heavy backpacking but for a light day pack, no problem. Size wise I usually wear a 9. 5 in running and training shoes and I ordered a 10 in these and they were good. I prefer the wide version though as it gives me just a bit more toe box room, not necessarily extra width but roomier. I am hoping these will break in enough to be as comfortable as the wider version. But a great comfortable boot overall.

I want to start by saying that I have been a loyal follower and buyer of Salomon boots for as long as I can remember. For at least the past ten years, I have worn them every single day. I replace my boots annually—not because they wear out or break down, but simply because I love the feel of new boots. In fact, I still have all of my previous pairs, except my very first ones( which I should have kept as well). Each pair continues to serve me in different ways. When I first purchase a new pair, they become my work boots, while the older ones transition into hiking boots, allowing them time to break in naturally. After about six months, I begin using the newer boots for hiking, always carrying an extra pair in my pack in case I need to swap them out—usually due to an issue like water getting inside. Let me emphasize that under normal conditions, these boots do not get wet inside. However, if fully submerged underwater—which I have done on several occasions—they will absorb moisture. When this happens, I hang the wet boot on the outside of my pack to dry while I continue my journey. I can confidently say that Salomon makes outstanding boots. They have been an essential part of my adventures, and I highly recommend them. Great boots, great company, and great experiences with Salomon!

Finally found a hiking boot that works for my wide foot and narrow heel! So comfortable... feels like wearing a running shoe. But has the support, durability, GTX and traction I like for hiking on snow, ice, and dirt. And waterproof+ zero drop too! Lace system makes it easy to adjust for different socks. I wore these hikers during my recent trip to Northern California. My feet stayed dry during heavy downpours of rain on trail hikes and walking on the beach. My only problem was the tongue on my left shoe rubbed against my ankle. I wore thicker socks and that helped the situation.

This is my second pair of this shoe. I wore the first pair nearly every day, year round for three years until the soles wore down. Fit perfectly from day 1 and I used them for hiking, ordinary wear around town, and even to a casual restaurant dinner. Got many compliments along the way. I am male, wear a men's size US 6/Euro 39 shoe, and have difficulty finding my size, and a women's size 7. 5 works with this shoe.
