[ This pack was a long day hike upgrade for me and I chose it for 2 reasons. First was the Airspeed suspension which definitely keeps your back cool. Second was longer torso length. Along with all of the compression straps this a very comfortable and balanced pack. The stuff it pocket was an afterthought but is actually very handy. Extremely pleased with this purchase!

` I am a 50 year old occasional hiker who has n't had a new pack since college. Just spent 3 days hiking in the Catskills with this pack on my back for 7- 8 hours a day and I love it. Plenty of space and super comfortable. I barely noticed I was even carrying a pack, had zero shoulder or back strain, and like the frame that allows for some airflow through the back area- a big plus hiking in 80+ degree weather. This is such a cool camping/hiking backpack, it has more pockets than I 'd know what to do with. There is a little pocket at the bottom that holds a waterproof cover. It can be easily folded back up to fit inside. There are sturdy metal rods, with a heavy duty mesh piece on the back. It will definitely hold up when hiking. I like that the main compartment can unzip to fit a sleeping bag or other bulky items. I have n't used it yet for hiking but it will be great for our next camping trip!

The bag is adequately sized for all hikes and most short camping trips. Despite its relatively small size, it boasts a number of impressive features. Firstly, this bag has a small plastic internal frame to provide structure. The frame is lightweight, yet sturdy enough for a fully packed bag. Because of the frame's assistance with weight distribution, everything felt lighter on my back. This bag also has many different pockets and straps for varied packing strategies. The straps on the bottom of the bag are perfect for a sleeping bag, ground mat, or small tent. Underneath those straps is a small pocket that holds an included rain cover to keep your bag totally dry during heavy rain. There is also a pocket on top of the bag for any small items you may need to access on the go, without opening or unpacking the rest of the bag. Finally, there is a pocket for a hydration bladder, so you can stay hydrated as you move. Some other useful features are the emergency whistle on the chest strap, the included strap management bungees( so those leftover strap ends after adjustment are n't hanging everywhere), and the water bottle pockets on the sides. Overall, I would give this product a 5/5. Met or exceeded all of my expectations. I would highly recommend this bag to anybody who is a frequent camper or hiker.

Someone wrote that the Hikelite is lacking a handle loop. IDK, mine has one. As I do with all my backpacks, I put a large S- biner on it, so I can hang it, it even hooks over 40 cm thick stall doors so I do n't have to set my pack down. I also riveted thick vinyl sheeting on bottom so that it can be set down on icky bathrooms or muddy ground..... Osprey take note! Bottom of packs should have waterproof vinyl sheet!

Trying to get back to consistent running and going longer distances. I previously had another brand ’s vest that I only used collapsible water bottles in the front pockets and never used a bladder. Always had comfort issues with it though and overall felt like I could never it to fit comfortably. For this vest though, I have run three 10 mile+ runs and find this one very comfortable. I was easily able to adjust this to fit correctly. I find the bladder easy to use and has been good to use with Tailwind Nutrition as my fuel of choice. I like the available storage as well and enjoy having a space for my phone. There is also so much more storage that I could utilize and have barely scratched the surface of. I did carry sunglasses with me on a run and was nice to have them with me even though I didn ’ t ultimately use them. Definitely happy with this purchase and look forward to more long runs with it.

No nonsense mountain pack with everything you need to succeed. And I just want to comment on some of the other reviews that gave a lower rating for their complete ignorance about mountain packs. Yes, that's correct, it does not have openings on the sides or front of it to access the main compartment. Because it's a mountain pack, needs to be that way. It's a tube, and you put a waterproof liner in it anyway. There is no access other than the top. It's to keep all your essentials like your parka, sleeping back, food, etc., DRY!! Either you have n't ever really climbed a glacier and just want to look kool with a mountain pack, OK, that's fine, but how about learning something before offering up a review that is completely incorrect for a mountain pack.

I borrowed my friends pack for an overnighter in the Sierra, here ’s my thoughts. Modern buckles are really easy to operate with gloves on. Very comfortable suspension. Great for A frame ski( split board) carry. The crampon pocket was just large enough to carry ski and boot( soft boot strap on) crampons. On my skinny body I found the waist belt plenty small enough on the Med/Lg pack. The only thing I didn ’ t fancy was the snow tool pocket, as is the consensus on reviews of this pack. My shovel blade was a tight fit, no room for a three meter probe and no way fat skins would fit. I ’ m generously giving five stars, but will likely hold out on buying one because of the diminutive snow tool pocket.

Bought the AMG 55 in the hope of using for splitboard based winter hut trips and some winter camping. IT has the ability to carry both skis and or a solid snowboard. This bag is burly. Much more so than the more minimalist backpacks I have been employing in recent years that simply are not very functional in snow country. This bag is perfect for what I 've described. It's comfortable, the hip belt and shoulder straps are more cushioned than anything I 've put on my shoulders in a very long time and carrying weight very well.. But at 5 '' 8 '' 145 lbs I 'm basically just fitting in this pack in a size small. I would n't recommend it to persons much smaller than me with a 30 '' waist. My only other gripe is that the luxuriousness of the hip/shoulder padding makes this pack feel bulky when you remove the brain and cinch it down to utilize for a shorter tours with a minimal load. At that point your left with lots of straps flapping around. At least they are colorful;) All in all if you looking for durability, heavy load carrying ability, in a functional layout this pack will deliver for many years of abuse. It's built to last and should for the how much it cost.

[ This thing is awesome! Super simple and light weight. Pretty water resistant as well. I use it as my go to and have been caught in some pretty good rain storms and it kept everything dry. The back pad does n't hold too much heat and the taller more narrow shape of the pack does n't feel like you have a bunch of stuff. I 've used it for hikes, weekend trips and as day to day bag. 10/10 would recommend.

Such a good bag, 100 oz of water is 4x my large yeti and the bag still has so much room I fit in an additional shoulder bag, snacks, some accessories and some green, and still had the half of the largest pouch not taken up by the water pouch. Bag is comfortable and stylish. Reservoir for water is incredibly well thought out and comes apart easily and in enough places that making sure the pack is dry after use is a breeze. Nice quality straps, small footprint and breathable materials means your back isn ’ t burning up. Big roomy pockets on the front for flasks with elastic loops that go over the lid to prevent it from sinking down in the sleeve over time. I love the zippered pocket on the left for my phone and the mesh pockets on either side for snacks. The bag has an easy top cinch at the top and is super roomy for the other essentials and then some. There is probably enough space in the pack itself for an emergency overnight. The fit is luxuriously comfortable, feels secure with very little bouncing and jostling. The only aspect of the pack I have n't used is the pole sleeves on either side of the pack or the elastic loops for lashing poles to the outside. They seem like they would work very well with the distance z poles, but not my old school backpacking poles. Really though, this is a great buy, I am extremely satisfied with the fit, feel, and quality of the running pack.

You can go to war with this thing. They say it ’s an ultra pack, but it is also the most comfortable pack I ’ ve ever used for MTB ’ ing. As an ultralight Backpacker, I leave my honest review here. First, I have to say that I was excited when I got this backpack; the fabrics and the implementation are outstanding excellent job Black Diamond. The fast backpack idea with those extra shoulder straps makes this backpack ideal. Not only is this one waterproof or almost, but it is merely one of the best backpacks I ever owned. Believe it or not, I have tried several UL backpacks in my career. The only downside I see is that the shoulder pocket with the zipper is too tiny to hold a standard- sized cell phone comfortably. If I had a bigger one, I could guarantee it would never fit inside.

I have n't used this pack but it looks great, with excellent materials, pockets and overall construction. It also seems to tick most boxes for ultra runners who may be doing multi- day events requiring a lot of mandatory gear. Some runners may question the design choice of having only one side of the vest strap capable of carrying a 500ml soft flask. Perhaps this is the preferred option for fastpacking but having capacity for two soft flasks in addition to two zippered pockets on either side like the BD Distance 15 pack would be ideal, at least for ultra runners.

It was great for travel and fit everything I needed for a plane ride and easily transitioned to a hike once I got to my destination. It really has the perfect amount of pockets- I love the front `` shove it '' pocket and the interior mesh pocket to keep thing organized. It also has a small pocket on the inside for its rain cover( which is included!) which came in handy while I was on my trip! I 've used this to train with 35lb water sack on multiple day hikes and 2 day summit trip to Mt. Rainier. This pack can hold more weight, and highly adjustable. I 'm 5' 1 '' '', 103lb very petite person, and I was able to have the torso adjusted to the shortest and the hip straps tight all the way to fit my short torso well. The floating divisor is easier and allows for more flexible storage, which I loved. I was able to fit a heavy duty sleeping bag and stuff the small empty areas with my snacks and dry socks, day gloves. Also for the panel cord loops I ended up buying elastic shock cords and cord locks for holding my ice axe, crampons, and my helmet. The only complaint I would have is the hip belt pockets could open a bit wider with longer zippers, and the backpack brain could be designed better in the way that it's easier to access and open from all angles when the pack is on the ground. Detachability would 've been nice.

My 2nd osprey; would never buy another brand. I use a smaller one for shorter hikes. This one is for multi- day hikes, carrying lightweight tent and sleeping bag, used mainly in hot climate. Back ventilation good, neat rain cover, easy to pack/unpack. Have just recommended it to a friend.

Completed the Everest Base Camp Trek a few weeks ago. Out of 8 people in our group there were 5 of us wearing Osprey packs. I had the Scarab 30 and loved it. We hiked in sun and rain, hot and cold, through wood and over rock fields. This pack was on my back every day every step of the way. The bladder was full with an extra bottle of water on the side at the waist belt and the bag was full with essentials for weather swap outs and everything i needed to get from A to B and survive without my big duffel. It never chafed my shoulders or waist, felt great on my back and did n't sweat me up by allowing air to flow around it. It was exactly the right choice. The design of the bladder makes it very easy to fill and shove back in its home. the only thing i would change or add would be a cover over the drinking port. We were dropping our packs in a lot of places, on trails in Tea houses, coffee houses and different temples, everywhere and the drinking port always ended up on the ground. Would of been nice to have some sort of cover.

Great for the price. I 'm a hydration pack fanatic because I use them several times a week. This one is quite good. The good: Really well made and durable materials. It is a really versatile hydration pack that can be used for hiking, cycling, etc. It has some internal pockets in the main compartment that really distributes your stuff and the weight well and keeps the pack well balanced. The back pads are nice and plush. The straps are stout. The external stuff pockets on the side/front are very useful. I like how the waist straps tuck away if you are not using them. Trekking pole straps/compression straps are nice. The pack is really streamlined, fits snug against the body, and is very stable for activity. The stuff that can be improved: The hydration bladder and bite valve are not the best, but they do function decent and for the price it is not a big deal. It would be nice to have some sort of velcro on the large external stuff pocket just to secure your stuff a little.
