Man. Talk about the simple life! Wear out picks. Buy new picks from Black Diamond. Bolt up new picks. Go climbing. Big sticks, big kicks. BD a for the win! Or as Will Gadd says: these things are Truck!!!

5 Peter L.
My old picks were worn down past the teeth. These fit perfectly into my old carbon fiber Cobra tools. They are as good as new. They are old tools, but I still like them and use them regularly. Getting the hex nut( on the tool head) loosened was quite difficult, but once that was accomplished, replacement was easy. The tools climb like they are new..

Always nice to swing on fresh picks from the factory. Very easy to replace with a ratchet, skip the BD wrench.

So my first set of tools was a old pair of leashed cobras sans pommel, then i got a set of fuels and it was life changing, X dream never felt right... Nomic Never felt right. At the end of the day you got ta find the right tool for you. If you like fuels... you will like these more. Love the swing and it ’s just fantastic hanging on this big meaty handle on a steep piece of ice.

5 Raphael
The Reactor is one of the best pure ice tools I 've used. When paired with the new Natural Ice picks, I find I 'm able to get good placements on the first swing almost every time. The open shaft geometry makes for a very natural swing, no funky wrist flick required. This geometry also makes the Reactors perform well even on less than vertical ice, unlike many more steeply drooped tools. The lightweight construction and even weight distribution also make it easy to accelerate the head of the tool, no big windup needed. Unless the ice is really cold and hard, a fast, short swing is enough. When paired with the Mixed picks, the Reactors perform well on rock as well, though for extensive drytooling the Fuels are still the way to go. But for pitch after pitch of ice, the Reactors are my first choice.

5 Benjamin
Light but really precise, offset of the handle feels great in hard climbs, balance is great and the pick is the nicest goes really smooth into the ice.

5 Topher
These really have a great swing and feel natural when placing. If you have xlarger hands( with gloves) even with the large adjustment, it can seem a little snug but nothing that gets in the way of a good stick. Angles great and seems to help you from getting pumped as fast. Well worth it! Great Job BD!

5 Outdooryves
This is my third pair of ice axes. I personally own the Grivel North Machine with carbon shaft and before that the Petzl This is my third set of ice axes. I presently owns a pair of. Grivel North Machine and my first set was Petzl Quarks. I definitely prefer the BD Reator. Blades are open enough for regular terrain and the curved handles are aggressive for steeper routes. I tried one set of Reactor last year and felt in love with the swing. The pure ice blades penetrate well with less ice diversion than my Grivel. Now so happy to own one. So eager to try it this winter!

5 Ice Jockey
I bought this with a Dick's 40% off one item promotion( making it$ 15) and picked it up in store. The form, function, and finish are perfect. This is an essential item for early ice fishing and late ice fishing. Easily check the thickness/safety of the ice with a couple solid strikes. I do n't spud my holes, but I 'm sure you could make fairly quick work out of ice less than 6 '' thick.

5 Justin1983
I bought this and never leave home without it when going out on the ice, love it, very sharp and not heavy at all!!

This set of tools are by far the best all mountain combination I ’ ve ever used. They have great balance and feel on alpine ice. The quick lock pommel is comfortable on long sections of alpine slab ice. The adjustment is quick and easy to position for different steepness and conditions. The shaft design anchors well in snow. Also the replaceable picks allow you the option to optimize for conditions from mixed ice and rock to glacier trekking.

5 Melodie Q.
Do it's job perfectly, delivered quickly very pleased with it.

5 Matt O.
I love the build of this axe. It's a heavier than the super lightweight touring axes like the Petzel Gully but imo gives you more stability and is easier to plunge while climbing couloirs and steep terrain. Solid weight to be able to self arrest too.

5 Katie G.
We haven ’ t got to use it yet but just what my husband wanted.

5 Brent F.
Good ergonomics and swings well. Fidlock grip gives you something to hold onto so you ’ re not as worried about dropping it. Great tool for high mountain travel.

Now that ice is over I can write a full season review. Cuts like a knife through butter and no issues at all. Left my gasser in storage all winter. I did have to buy an extension near the end as we were at the bottom and was easy to put on and drilled jyst as good as without. We also opened old holes, side by sides etc. and no issues there either. Totally impressed.

5 SkandicWT
Lightweight, ice- eating machine. Using a Dewalt Flexvolt hammer drill w/6ah battery, drilled 72 holes in 21 '' ice w/o swapping out battery. I wish Eskimo made a tube for transport.

5 Brodben
Great product. Drilled 100+ holes this season and still using original blades. Lightweight and durable. Getting the bit on the drill is sometimes hard with the guard so close to the chuck. Other than this small issue no complaints

5 Blair
Light, and cuts great! Keep your hole clean to save your drill.

5 GPopp
I already owned an 8 '' k- drill( 7 5/8 '') and decided to try the Pistol bit based on a recommendation from a coworker. The cut is smoother and I get more holes out of a battery with similar ice conditions. Since the centering point was added I can make fish ponds as well for those ice derby days. Has been a great addition to my ice gear.

These picks inspire confidence. Sure, they 're a little tougher to get into and out of pure ice, but they seem like they 'll last forever. Dry tooling with them on my vipers felt great.

5 Joseph s.
These picks are super strong and can stand the abuse of rock while also slicing through the ice with minimal effort. The fact they work on various BD axes also is a plus with only a single bolt to change out in the field.

[ Incredibly lightweight, larger bore hole, easy to pick off harness with the bright color hangers. Time will tell on durability, but the trade off for weight seems worth it

5
[ I bought this ice screw for the past season and they have been awesome! They screw in so much easier than other screws that I have used. As a newer ice climber, they gave me a lot of confidence. I also really liked that they are wider than normals screws, which means that you can screw them into used holes as long as they werent originally put there by another Blue Ice screw.

5 Jonas
[ I have the Blue Ice and Camp super stubbies and both are great but the 3 tooth design of the Blue Ice makes it bite even better I would say.

5 dvmnickel
[ Purchased in the summer for this season ’s ice. The screw bites into the ice well and drives nicely. I like the idea that I could use a smaller previous ice screw hole to place the bigger diameter blue ice screw, since as the season progresses this will likely be necessary.

[ I bought this to carry on an early season trip in the Sierras from Kearsarge Pass to Whitney Portal. It is extremely lightweight and thoughtfully designed to be used in that `` just in case '' scenario. Great for ultralight backpackers. 5 krasnaya
[ Bought this as a `` just in case '' ice axe for low/moderate angle terrain. It's so light you do n't even notice you have it. The one downside is that there's no stopper at the spike, so snow ends up filling the entire shaft. It's also somewhat difficult to penetrate hard ice.
