I visited the peak design store for a warranty issue that was expertly resolved and laid eyes on the travel backpack. The internal design for organization and the features included were excellent. Wmith space for a 14 inch laptop and tablet, organization for SD cards, cords, included deep water bottle pockets externally and expandable design, I had to try it out for my upcoming international trip and this bag did not dissapoint. Its sleek look but functional features are second to none that I 've found. Its easy to access in tight spaces like a plane seat but also opens fully when at your destination. It is comfortable to carry and durable. I have a few more international trips planned this year that require quite a bit of tech to carry and am extremely happy to have found this bag. It's perfect for me. You will not be dissapointed if you try it.

I have had this bag since 2017 and I beat the crap out of it and it has held up beyond my expectations.. The only thing I wish is that I could wash it better, because I am so hard on my stuff. I would put one more strip of padding on the bottom of the area for the laptop and two way zippers for the front little pocket, One other suggestion is for the side pockets where you can put your drinks it would be cool if one of those was a little longer, and you could zip it up.... This bag is very well made, nothing has come apart, nothing has had to be replaced and all the zippers are intact at almost 8 years since purchase with daily use!

[ We bought this to use as a diaper bag, and it works really well. I love that it has two side pockets for water bottles( or baby bottles!), and a spacious interior with a wide opening. Our first diaper bag backpack just did not open wide enough for us to find what we were looking for, but this one makes it easy. I got it in the Copenhagen blue which is a nice medium blue with a sort of subtle crosshatch pattern. I know this backpack will serve us well and last us beyond our diaper bag years.

I 've been using this Surge backpack since 2019 and it has been great! I 've heard my family's thoughts on the newer model of the same backpack and they are not as impressed. The straps are more prone to breaking and the seams have started tearing pretty early in the life of their backpack. This being said, my older model has been so great! It's gone through years of hauling notebooks, folders, textbooks, water bottles, and clothes for practice after school. One of the shoulder straps did begin to tear last year( 2024) slightly but a quick stitch- job has got it back to working order. I would definitely buy a North Face backpack again!

Love this bag. Fabric is tough, the bottom lining is great when setting the bag down on wet concrete. The bag has the perfect amount of rigidity, holds it's shape well enough that it's not falling all over you when you reach in and stands on it's own even when its not too full but is n't stiff or rough. This is the second one of these we own. My son has the first one, and after the first year of carrying it for school a thoroughly beating it up, it barely showed any wear or tear. The net pockets on the side were the only place that a couple of very small holes had occurred. Other than that it was in perfect condition. I like it when I do n't have to buy a new backpack every year. So this one was for my daughter. She should be good to carry it at LEAST for her last 2 years of school. I bought this backpack almost 2 years ago! Most of the year I 'm somewhere else, so I like to joke that this backpack is my house( 😅). Even I use it a lot, it looks brand new! One of my primary concerns was the safety of my notebook inside, I did n't have any problems yet( always fully packed). Only two things I can think are not ideal. Firstly, is not a backpack for hiking. I like to hike and this is usually my only backpack so I use it anyways, but when I compare it to other hiking backpacks is not as comfortable( the solution I found is to exercise my shoulders and back 😆). Lastly, the chest strap is losable. Since it can be fully detached, it's not impossible it will fall when you have it on just on one side and you will lose it. Thankfully they sell replacement strap, so I used a cheap one from an outdoor store until I could buy it from them.

Because it lasted so long, I bought the rekanken mini, for smaller version, the kanken No 2 for my laptop, the weekender qhich is awesome as a carry on even at airports, the sling which I use as a purse and the tote for groceries and stuff. I only use fjallraven now, cause you can never go wrong. It is made to last!! Also I feel like is very stylish, I only wear black and only hace the boack ones, the color hasn ’ t faded. Make sure to wash it every now and then in delicate warm cycle or by hand. I love that it doesn ’ t take any space, and is super light. I am surprised that for such small and simple handles they haven ’ t torn. I gave away any other backpack or bags that are not this brand, this is by far the comfiest, classiest and best. If I end up buying a new backpack ever again, it would be this same exact one just to renew, althought I have a feeling it can literally last a decade more, impressive Fjallraven.

It ’s not a heavy material, light enough that you would not mind taking it anywhere. So far I have taken it to the gym and used it as a diaper bag, it ’s versatile in my opinion. In terms of the material, it ’s like a sturdy all weather material type, see pictures, very easy to clean. I have been able to wipe off milk spit up from my newborn fairly easily, that ’s a plus. Don ’ t see why one would not be able to clean off anything else if anything was spilled on it. Plenty of pockets, one in the front with a zipper, beneath the front you can hold a towel, baby blanket, burp towels, changing mats, gym mat whatever you need. I 've been using this Surge backpack since 2019 and it has been great! I 've heard my family's thoughts on the newer model of the same backpack and they are not as impressed. The straps are more prone to breaking and the seams have started tearing pretty early in the life of their backpack. This being said, my older model has been so great! It's gone through years of hauling notebooks, folders, textbooks, water bottles, and clothes for practice after school. One of the shoulder straps did begin to tear last year( 2024) slightly but a quick stitch- job has got it back to working order. I would definitely buy a North Face backpack again!

[ I ’ ve had this new backpack for a little over a month now and I ’ m really enjoying it. From a work standpoint, there ’s a cushioned area for my laptop, iPad& other work files in the main pocket. In the secondary pocket that is sealed with Velcro, I carry all of my laptop cords and other miscellaneous supplies. I ’ m surprised how well the Velcro seals and nothing falls out. The side zipper allows me quick access to whatever I need. On top there is a small zipper pocket for my pens, pencils, and a calculator. There is also a water bottle holder on each side. But what I like most about this bag is the blaze orange interior, which helps me to see items that get buried in the bottom of the bag that would normally be difficult to see if it was lined in black. This is ingenious as I ’ ve never had a backpack with this coloration on the interior. I thought it would be annoying, but it is very helpful. This little pack has been the perfect travel companion. I like to 'carry on' travel as often as possible- even a two week long trip to the UK and Ireland. As I can never truly get away from work my second bag has to be my computer bag holding a substantial amount of work related items. As such its hard to repurpose as a day pack. For me this leaves out the option of a day pack once on the ground. Enter the In and Out. It truly packs down small and takes up little room in my computer bag and once at my destination becomes an extremely effective day pack for touring about, shopping, hiking and going to the beach. [ We just got hit pretty much back- to- back by Helene and Milton, and this made a great go- bag to evacuate from the hurricanes! It ’s very well built and easy to carry, there ’s plenty of room for evacuation essentials, and all of my stuff stayed dry! All sorts of camping and survival supplies are very popular here in hurricane country — even though I don ’ t know of a single person who actually voluntarily goes camping around here! The only thing I wish I could change about the bag is the color! I really wanted a hot pink, or at least a bright neon orange or yellow! Still, the red and yellow is considerably more visible than the basic black. I received the correct item, in good condition, in a decent amount of time. The packaging was frankly ridiculous, though! It ’s very flat and took up minimal room, even without rolling it up – so there was no reason to send it in a massive cardboard box the size of a golf bag, for goodness sakes!

I like the white interior for finding gear and the quality of the bag seems durable overall. The straps themselves aren ’ t the most comfortable when your bag gets heavier but for my portages I ’ m never wearing the pack for much more than an hour between paddles. I would personally prefer a bit of extra bulk and weight if that was the compromise to have a slightly more padded shoulder.

Made extremely well. Loved the hard bottom of this considering I mostly fish kayak and canoe, keeps things dry. Looked forever for what this thing will hold with no info on storage capacity. Pulled the trigger and was pleased with what I could fit. Main compartment holds 3 3700 size boxes, you could add a 3700 thin as well but its pretty tight. The front pouch will hold a 3600 box without much room to spare, I loaded mine with a 3600 thin terminal box and a thin 3500 box. Pouches on the side of bag will hold the small Flambeau spinner bait box. I used top pouch for plastics, holds like ten bags or so comfortably. Great bag and comfortable to carry fully loaded

I 've had this pack for 4+ years now. I take it on a couple backpacking trips a year on average and some day hikes where I 'm carrying more than normal. It's always fit everything I need. I 've carried a large tandem packraft and paddles with it( alpacka forager). I 've hiked 30 miles of the Kesugi Ridge Trail with it. The most notable use I think was for a caribou hunt I did a couple years ago on the Denali Highway. I packed out a cow caribou including all meat and 4 quarters bone in and the hide with my other knives and day pack type gear 5 miles down a mountain side and back to the parking lot via the trail. Roughly 100lbs. No buckles broke or came undone under tension, no rips, straps worked well to keep the load secure and close to my body. It only creaked and groaned a bit under that load, but otherwise performed well especially for not being a hunting pack. I would buy again!

This is a great backpack for the price. I am giving it 5 stars because it's everything you would want and need in a pack. The middle zipper opening is an amazing feature that allows you to get into your items without having to pull everything out from the top like a conventional pack. One downside are the hip straps. I feel they could be slightly larger for the size of pack, I had some discomfort but nothing terribly bad, likely had more to do with me being out of shape as well. I recommended this to a buddy and he has one and uses it quite often like myself.

I got this backpack to prepare for my 3 month trip in the Caribbean and it ’s has been so helpful to say the least. I have an overpacking problem but all of the different compartments and pockets made it so I could fit everything I needed. The support on the backside of it helps so much with my back pain and doesn ’ t make me feel exhausted at the end of a busy travel day. Furthermore, the top bit comes off as a smaller backpack which was perfect for day trips. The only thing i would change would be the smaller buckles that attach the front pocket to the bag, they were a little weak. However, I don ’ t have any worry they will come undone when I check it at the airport. Overall, this bag has been a HUGE help!! It definitely has made my traveling much easier.

[ The 65L Ampex Hiking Backpack as a whole is lightweight, comfortable, and breathable. Overall, it has plenty of smaller exterior pockets that are accessible within an arms reach when needed. The waist belt pockets are a pleasant feature that I ’ ve never experienced on a hiking ruck before, which add to the accessibility of its pockets given that the pack doesn ’ t need to be removed to reach them. The padded shoulder straps are comfortable and have plenty of lashing points which are great for attaching lights or other tools. The waist belt serves well to distribute weight and secure the pack, and the pack seemed to be highly adjustable but I didn ’ t need to play with it much. The top of the pack has a quick access pouch for essentials that serves well to store smaller items without having to access the main compartment. The main compartment has plenty of space being a larger sized ruck, and has one divider that appears removable towards the bottom if it was to be needed. The top compartment of the pack is removable as advertised and can be used on its own, however it leaves the ruck feeling somewhat naked with just an exposed drawstring closure underneath. The removed “ pack ” achieved by taking it off would not serve well for a day pack as the straps just buckle into themselves to form shoulder straps. This in and of itself feels like an unnecessary feature. The main compartment has access by way of the drawstring at the top, or zippers located on the front which are great for horizontal access without unpacking the entire ruck to access deeper items. At the bottom of the pack there is an included rainfly that tucks away nicely in its own pocket. There are lashing points located on the bottom of the pack that held a sleeping mat for me quite nicely. The wire/ mesh frame that the pack sits on is breathable, comfortable, and distributes weight well when carrying lighter loads. One glaring issue that I had was the manufacturers recommended load limit of 42 pounds. For such a large capacity pack, you would think that it would not be an issue. However, any experienced camper or hiker knows that when carrying a sustainment load or anything other than a days worth of supplies, that weight will be eaten up very quickly. While this pack has many of the amenities and features of a more expensive ruck, I would recommend a sturdier pack and frame for more extended trips, hikes, or hunts. All in all, the pack is ideal for day trips or light camping. If the buyer doesn ’ t foresee themselves approaching or exceeding the weight limit, it is a very light and comfortable ruck that was clearly designed with accessibility in mind at a competitive price.
