[ Got this knife as both a camping/EDC option. Really happy with the feel and performance. Blade extremely sharp. Fits perfectly in you pocket. So light you almost dont know its there. Recommended!

[ Sharp, light in weight, lots of aftermarket parts. Feels good in hand. Description does n't say it but the black handle is Benchmade's carbon plastic model, which is more premium, lighter weight, stronger and better texture than its standard plastic grivory scales. Mechanism is secure. Everything about it is a solid knife.

[ This knife is extremely popular and now I know why. It is so light that you forget it's in your pocket. If you get one, do yourself a favor and take it apart after breaking it in and oil the washers. After this, the action is so smooth and it drops shut.

[ The ring is great for a quick clip onto my harness. Easy open and close. It seems to hold its edge quite nicely. Strong blade, not afraid of it breaking. Handle is a bit flimsy, but if you hold it closer to the blade it's sturdy.

Nate
[ This knife works great as a very lightweight option for backpacking. It stays clipped to my pack strap so it's always easy to grab when needed to fight off zombies, alien invaders, or whitewalkers.

[ Great knife for pretty much all outdoor activities. The only feature I would request is a way to lock the knife closed as well as open. While it has never opened unintentionally, the ability to lock it closed would bring a little extra peace of mind.

I think Gerber decides to reward our loyalties ever few years when it comes out with a little GEM like this. The Zilch is a wonderful design, it's inexpensive and simple but it works. The detent works, centering is perfect, lock up is solid, no blade play, sturdy pocket clip, smooth opening and the flat ground drop point blade is awesome. No expensive handle materials or blade steel at this price point but I love carrying it all the same. I got the Red one but will probably get more in the different colors just because. I think the main comparison/competition to the Zilch would be the Dozier and the 112 Slim...... so if you like that style of knife but prefer a liner lock then maybe the Zilch is for you.
5
I wish the Zilch had been around when I was going through knifes. Very solid little knife for the money with full liner. May not be premium material, but for the price beautifully executed. I find the Zilch design both more aesthetic and functional than other knifes in its price range. I do n't know how it would hold up under the use I give a knife, but at its price it would be a tool I 'd use and replace when I broke or lost it. And I broke and lost a lot of knives that cost more. Gerber might just have the best in its class here.

[ I like the size and weight of this knife. Awesome body material is non- slip in your hand but does not stick to your pocket liner. Solid blade is heavy without being clunky. Easy one hand open, a smooth piece all around. Highly recommend for EDC.

I purchased 3 of these knives for my son's. I have the SOG SEAL XR and really like it. so i figured that the ALTAIR XR would make a great EDC pocket knife, and i was amazed at how light and comfortable it is to carry. I will be buying one for me for pocket knife duty. As for the hardcore use I 'll stick to the SEAL XR.

I was looking for an American Made knife for daily carry that could be opened with one hand and that was slim and light. The Buck Bantam was a perfect fit for all this criteria. The price was good which made the entire purchase a good value. I can not speak to its longevity as I have not owned it that long. Ask me if I still have it a couple of years from now! I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a sharp, easily carried knife for daily use.

[ I have another ZT( 0562) and this is just as smooth as you would expect from one of the top American knife makers. It is more of a “ gentleman ’s carry ” knife — it is on the medium to small side and looks very sheen with the CF handle.

Super sharp blade, Ease of operation with action ... I own several Terminus XR and is one of the best EDC you can own. This Damascus blade gave this one a cool classy

Charles73
I purchased this about a month ago and have been very pleased with the knife. I had an earlier model in red that I also liked, but the clip was a bit of a disappointment as it persistently snagged on the lettering. This model has an improved clip and the blade is fantastic. Love that it has a hard core surrounded by the damascus. I hope SOG will use this damascus on other models. Only suggestion would be to etch the blade longer, or to not polish it as much so the contrasting steel can pop.

This knife has made me fall back in love with SOG. A beautiful, light and sharp knife. The pattern dose not pop out so much, but considering it can cut through a quarter inch piece of paper without the paper wiggling around and the fact I feel like I ’ m carrying a razor sharp feather makes this knife my new best friend. Buy this knife now you will not regret it.

Manual opening knives offer several advantages, including reliability and ease of use. They typically require less maintenance than automatic knives and provide a sense of control when opening and closing. Additionally, many users appreciate the tactile feedback and simplicity of a manual mechanism.
Manual opening knives are often made from a variety of materials to enhance durability and performance. Common materials include stainless steel for the blade, which offers corrosion resistance, and various types of handle materials such as aluminum, G10, or wood for a comfortable grip. The choice of materials can affect the knife's weight, balance, and overall aesthetics.
Manual opening knives come in various styles, including folding knives, fixed-blade knives, and multi-tools. Each style serves different purposes, with folding knives being popular for everyday carry due to their compact size. Fixed-blade knives are often favored for outdoor activities, while multi-tools offer versatility for various tasks.
Choosing the right manual opening knife depends on your intended use, preferences for size and weight, and desired features. Consider factors such as the blade shape, handle material, and locking mechanism. It's also helpful to think about whether you need a knife for everyday tasks, outdoor adventures, or specific hobbies.

Additionally, checking for any signs of wear or damage can help prolong the life of the knife.
