Definitely a jacket for specific shoulder season weather: colder, semi- dry days. It 's a warm jacket that sadly does n't have pit zips to let heat out when the hiking/climbing gets going. I had to fully unzip the front and leave it open. Would n't use it as a rain jacket. Could be used as a light snow jacket. I 've been using it as a springtime( and fall) belay jacket and it works great. If you get caught in a drizzle the repellancy works shedding water and wind. Love the soft, stretch fabric that does n't restrict moment and allows me to wear just a t- shirt underneath if need be. Big pockets all with good zippers and it packs into its own pocket. The hand cuffs are interesting and remind me of cycling jackets that are longer on top to keep water off the back your hands. It has stretch band cuff on the underside along wrist. So far i have n't had issue with them, but i worry the elastic will one day no longer be tight and the cuff could be baggy and useless. Maybe they should have stuck with classic Velcro straps to adjust cuff tightness-- only time will tell. Overall i like the jacket as my backup for when i do n't expect bad weather but need something just in case. A great jacket for walking around town too.

There 's a reason you see so many really favorable reviews of this jacket. It checks all the boxes. Packable, super light, blocks the wind, repels mist or light rain and looks great. Pull it out of your kit at a windy summit or the top of a pitch. If you are slim and athletic, it fits true to your usual size. I have a paunchy `` dad bod '', so I had to go up one size for midriff room. You wo n't have to, though. I also have the lined hoody version of this garment, and like it equally for belaying or just spectating at the base of the crag.

I have been using multiple Kor products for a while and added this one to my closet recently. It has many uses but what I use it for is early morning hikes and rides. It adds just enough warmth over a base layer to reduce the bite of morning chill. The fabric is crazy stretchy and soft, and while I have n't been rough on this one, my insulated Kor Strata is a ski layer I have hammered all season with no issue. This thing is crazy packable too so it makes it easy to shove into a pocket or my lumbar pack.

Replacing an older TNF Goretex hard shell that held up for a very long time until the zippers failed. First impressions is that the number of pockets and their positioning is exactly the type of thing you did n't know you needed until you have it. Feels light and offers good maneuverability. Simply the best jacket. Super light weight, I never have to worry about sacrificing weight for comfort. I just throw it in my bag now and do n't even think about it. It washes quite well too, as I run it through the ringer at work and camping. The down has not had a problem after about 45 washes with wool balls on regular temps. It 's not water proof, but for light rains I have not had to throw on a rain jacket and have not felt that it was damp after.

Unfortunately the Ghost Whisperer 2 runs very small, all of my Mountain Hardwear gear I ’ ve worn XL including my Absolute Zero summit suit but a XXL in this jacket ran VERY snug. Didn ’ t give me a lot of room to move around but it served its purpose.

This is my second Ghost Whisperer jacket. My first one is about six years old and is still in great shape, save for a couple places where the stitching is coming undone( I might talk to warranty about that...). I also have a StretchDown jacket, but I prefer the Ghost Whisperer, as it provides better protection against the wind. I can layer the Ghost Whisperer with a light merino wool sweater and be plenty warm in temperatures well below freezing. It 's also perfect for traveling since it 's so light and warm. I love that I can stuff it into its own pocket and use it as a pillow on the airplane. It was a no- brainer to take it with on a three week trip to Ireland and France in the early shoulder season. I would buy again in a heartbeat.

I have used the Ghost Whisper Jacket for about 2 years underneath a different coat which is The North Face Summit 3 The coat fits me a little snug with a shirt over a T shirt but it works fine with just a t shirt which has held up with 2 years of use fine. I get Cold easily and do not walk fast due to diabetic neuropathy. Mainly the use of jacket is for around town or if a building is too cold. On hikes just today I used it underneath the North Face Summit 3 when it was 55 degrees along with a T shirt since I stand a lot when I am on hikes.. I had no problems with snugness Some of the time I just stood and looked at nature which would make a person more sensitive to cold. Concerning the Mountain Hardware 2 series I can not make a comparison. Overall the Mountain Hardware Ghost Whisper Jacket has worked fine underneath my North Face size small jacket. Since I am a a size small person the Mountain Hardware Ghost Jacket is a size small. I am five foot 7 inches and weigh 170 to 175 pounds. I highly recommend the Mountain Hardware Ghost 2 series Jacket.

These bibs were fantastic for my snowboarding trip in Breckenridge. These bibs were extra flexible and did n't make me feel as constrained as other bibs have. They fit well and were very comfortable for riding from first chair to last. We ended up having a pretty wide range of temperatures from 40 to- 10. So far, so good! Living right outside the Middlesex Fells, the weather can be incredibly variable year round, and this jacket handles the rain and wind well. I 've found this jacket has managed to keep me warm when it 's cold out, but also not overheat me in the event the sun is out because of how light the jacket is. Absolutely killer jacket. Bought it to use for teaching a backpacking class in the late fall in high mountains of Idaho where it can get pretty cold pretty quick. Used it in- 10f weather with a baselayer underneath and shell on top and stayed toasty the whole time. Provides an honestly impressive amount of wind resistance even on the seams. A lot of people claim durability issues but I 've used it climbing, backpacking, and bikepacking for about two years now and it 's done amazingly. Well done Mountain Hardwear!

Good winter and low temp jacket. Its longer and a tad baggy/active since its made for riding, so take your normal size and layer underneath for really cold days. It 's super comfortable and will keep you warm and dry. Hood is definitely a little too Raph, it 's made for riding with a helmet on, so its too big for casual wear but I knew that would be the case for any snowboard jacket so it does n't bother me.

I ca n't speak of cold winters just yet, but layering this with something under would be enough for me. The color is true to the picture. [ Marmot has a long history of making high quality outerwear. And this history continues with Mitre peak Jacket. I have been a fan of Marmot since my first jacket( the Alpine Light Jacket) which has been with me for most of my outdoor adventures into the backcountry and high altitude peak. I still remember when the 10, 000 meter parka was the one of the best pieces of equipment a mountaineer could have for protection at very cold, high altitudes. Not sure if they still make that. Back to the review of this jacket. I like the fact that it is does not come with a liner so this makes it more versatile for layer. Not sure of the durability for and longevity as the material is lighter and therefor repeated use with pack straps and harnesses may wear stress areas out as they are not reinforced. I have yet to find rainy enough day where the jacket has not performed. Hopefully this waterproofing with continue over the life time of the jacket. My biggest issue now with the latest products from all makers( Patagonia, The North Face, etc) is the delamination of the gortex material after a few years of use. Hopefully they have resolved this issue. Looking forward to many years of use with this jacket. Check in with me in a few years, I will let you know how this performed

happy with this jacket. i used at mt Bachelor for four days. it was cold week but i never got cold, in fact i had to open vents. i 'm 6' 1 '' and its very comfortable fit. hood its true helmet compatible. main zipper sometimes was stubborn but manageable. i would improve the top of inside part of zipper where Gore- Tex material is touching your face/ mouth when hood is over the helmet by putting softer cloth material, maybe even this piece could be removable for often cleaning. overall good jacket.

I am surprised by how much I appreciate this old- school jacket. It is extremely durable; very comfortable and quiet; and has a beautiful timeless design and style. I have been wearing the Skogso as my everyday jacket- and bought this one on sale as a work/barn/farm jacket. I must say that I love it so much I almost hate to only wear it on the farm! That being said it is the best farm coat I have ever had- I use it in every season, with wool/down underneath in the New Brunswick winter. A note on the waterproofness of wax- treated G- 1000- one can greatly increase the waterproofness( and durability) of G- 1000 with wax treatment( and although a bit tedious, if you enjoy looking after/maintaining fine things, it is actually fun!). That being said, no one wold claim it is as waterproof as a modern( and toxic) synthetic waterproof- '' breathable '' material. But, G- 1000 breathes better than any modern synth rain jacket; and( this is rarely mentioned) G- 1000 drys incredibly fast- even while wearing it. For me the pros of G- 1000 greatly outweigh it being less waterproof than a synth jacket. I am not going to the moon- both I and my clothes can dry by the fire; in the sun; or even walking on the trail. This is a superb jacket. Though I have never owned one- this jacket sure looks very close to the Vidda Pro- surely the Vidda Pro is based on this design?

After six months of use, I thought it was time to write a review of this jacket. I purchased the Greenland Jacket in the fall, so now after seeing three of the four seasons it 's best suited for, I can say it was an excellent choice for various reasons. First, its durability. It 's functioned well in both heavy rain and snow. I 've had to reapply the wax coating three times( the first attempt was a failure). I would not advise using a hairdryer to melt the wax. It 's both time- consuming and results in an uneven blotchy look. Go with an iron, apply light even layers of wax and you 'll find the outcome far superior. Once I used this method, I was satisfied with the overall outcome. The Greenland Jacket will work very well during the shoulders seasons as well as the wintertime. Second, it 's a great choice for layering during the colder months. I 'm 6' 0 '' 185lbs and a large will fit well as a single layer( jacket only) as well as an outer layer with a down insulation layer under the Greenland. I 've owned( and still own) various shells and this in now my go- to outer layer in the winter months. It provides moisture protection and the features I both wanted and discovered I did n't know I wanted! The four large button pockets are great for storage, easy to access when wearing gloves, and blend well with the overall look. I also found the front two- way zipper to be a great option for venting when heat dumping becomes necessary. The only small complaint is the zipper can sometimes be difficult to start, but nothing that would make me reconsider this product. Lastly, it 's a stylish timeless look. There 's a reason this design has been around for decades, its functionality as well as the timeless look. So in terms of both function and style, this is near the top of any choice out there. After buying the Greenland and now six months in, I can say it was a great choice and I think most anyone would agree.

A great feeling warm jacket! I have a 40 '' chest, 34 '' waist, 160 lbs and the medium fits great. Have worn in temps ranging from mid 30s to mid 40s and have been warm with just a cotton long sleeve under it. Love the stretch of the durable fabric and the matte green color. Also, this jacket does n't have the `` marshmallow look '' of other downs. Overall, this is the best down jacket I have owned and look forward to years of use.

[ I bought this jacket with the upcoming Winter in mind replacing my previous ten years ’ old puffer. I can tell it ’s going to be warm enough for the E coast winter but what really blows my mi d is just how light it is. Whereas I ’ ve always had jackets that encumbered my movements and I ’ d simply got used to that fact, this jacket feels so incredibly light and form fitting that it ’s going to be a new experience for my winters. I love the fact it feels like a light jacket instead of a ‘ winter coat ’ and can ’ t wait to be wearing it daily very soon.
