The Outdoor Research Helium Down Vest has become a daily part of my kit working at a ski area. The cut is definitely very athletic or snug, which does make it amazing for layering over. I ’ m normally somewhere between a large and extra large, the XL fits much closer to a large than a XL. While not the most flattering for fashion wear, but it ’s perfect for how warming layers are meant to be worn. Generally I ’ ll wear this vest over my base layer and under my other mid layer. I love this weighted vest! I use it to do both house chores and on walks. The 20 lbs feels like plenty of weight and I am easily able to remove the sandbags if I need to lighten it. I like the way the velcro wraps all the way around and it can be taken off from the side, or front. The material is very sturdy and seems like it would be more expensive than$ 50- I found this to be a great deal! I can increase the weight if I purchase heavier sandbags, but 20 lbs seems like plenty!
