Quality counts ... Glad to finally have a tested, proven and professional third hand instead of homemade hand tied prusiks. ... Fits great on a locking crab
5
Adam
[ Bought it to be used as a backup during rappel using the hitch pictured. Accidentally bought the 10mm instead of the 8mm. Tested it out today and it still works on my 9. 8mm rope, but just barely. If your rope is thinner than that, go with the 8mm instead of the 10. I could not get it to hold in a traditional prusik however.

snowryder
[ Purchased this a few weeks ago ahead of a trip to Zion. Have taken it out three times and have about 15 rappels on it- mostly double rope, but not all. I have used ATC, ATS, and Hyrobot rappel devices without issue. Have used hollow block and 5mm nylon auto blocks as well. Really like its light weight. I take care to not beat up on my ropes so I ca n't easily confirm how much more durable it is compared to something like Sterling's HTP rope, but it seems to be holding up fine after three outings. I have no buyer's remorse on spending a few extra dollars.
5
mrjazzitup
[ Two day shipment was super fast. Came in coiled up and it took a while to get it untangled. Probably need to run it once to completely get rid of kinks and twists. Other than that, rope performed flawlessly running through the canyons in SoCal.
5
jknk
[ This stuff is SO light( comparable to many of the 8mm!). Since none of the components absorb water, it stays light( my 200' of this feels lighter than my 9. 5mm 60' of nylon- core after a good soaking). If I bring beginners to canyons, this is what I want them on: easy to hold( does rap fast for a 9mm), and the technora sheath makes a big difference in durability. Sandstone canyons, no edge pro( traveling light here...) 200' rappel, eight people, and some really bad edge transitions, with only a bit of light fuzzing( I was concerned the entire sheath would be gone by the fourth person). Also great for use in harsh city environments( 90 degree concrete ledges are the ultimate test). Tech is extremely hard to cut, pretty hard to abrade, and impossible to burn( had someone throw two feet of this into a fire, and we watched the core melt out, but the sheath was completely fine. Not saying it's a good idea, but at the strength of Technora, I 'd rap that). If you 're a canyoneer, caver, or urbexer, looking for something light and durable, this is my favorite.

[ The Sterling Rope C- IV 9mm Rope is a fantastic rope for canyoneering. It's supple yet rugged and durable, lightweight, and stacks in a bag easily. Best used for dry canyons but can also be used in water.

I bought this about a month ago to use for setting up anchors on trad climbs and for top rope. I had never used Cordelette before, however, I find it extremely easy to equalize with 3 or 4 points. I was a little nervous when I first saw how small this product was, but after setting anchors and climbing on them I am really impressed with it. I would and have already trusted my life to this product. A+.

[ I bought this rope to use as a cordelette for building anchors at the top of trad climbs. It works really well and has excellent strength rating. I found the rope a little bit stiff when I first got it but it softened up with some usage. BTW I turned this rope into a cordelette by tying the ends together in a double fisherman's. Highly recommend. I would never lead a climb without a rope like this to string up in emergency scenarios.

[ I ’ ve taken this rope out a couple times now, holds up well for canyoneering. Dry treatment seems great, rope isn ’ t too heavy and easy to manage.
5
Skyphex
[ This Is my 1- year review on this rope. I bought this rope originally as a lighter rope for hiking out to remote caves but it soon after took place over my other ropes and goes with me to every single cave I rap into. After thousands of feet of ascending and rappelling on it, there is little to no wear on the sheath and there are no bumps or wear on the internal parts from what I can tell. I 'd trust this rope to get me out of any situation and while the 8. 5 mm size may deter some, I have had absolutely zero problems with this rope being to slick on the rappel or not giving enough grab on the ascent.

AwwYeah
[ This is a good rope to add to my canyoneering gear. I ’ ve got two of them and they work great for my needs. The first one has lasted 4 seasons.
$169.99
I haven ’ t put it to the test much yet so can ’ t speak for durability but it ’s strong, light and one of the cheaper static lines I ’ ve been able to
5
Kronos
[ I bought this for rapping on multi pitch read lines whenever clean pulls are available. Lighter than a second rope but the 8mm is heavy enough not to snag or kink as much as some of the 6mm or 7mm taglines out there. Sterling ropes are always well made and this seems to handle nice and isn ’ t too heavy. At 8mm you can do some hauling if need be too. If weight is an issue check out the 7mm tagline from Sterling.

Misty032404
[ I bought this acouple weeks ago it is a great item, its not to bulky or heavy to pack, the size is great and love the color! It's a great addition to our gear.

Chris
[ Great rope! Everything as described! It is super light weight, the rope is seventy meters long and very durable! It is also big enough to be used in my micro traxion!
4
Emp22
[ It ’s lightweight but large diameter enough that it connects to my lead rope well. Fits in my rappel device( petzl reverso) and works well as a grab and go emergency backup for alpine routes. I haven ’ t put it to the test much yet so can ’ t speak for durability but it ’s strong, light and one of the cheaper static lines I ’ ve been able to find.
$25.99
Versatile and convenient ... The longer length means I have to make slightly more wraps as an autoblock on my leg loop to prevent it from hitting my rappel device but this might be the perfect motivation to extend my rappel device like I should have been doing
5
Seibert
[ I wanted to upgrade/replace my 6mm cord which was tied in a loop with a double fisherman. I use the cord mainly to autoblock rappels, occasionally as a prussik. I 'm also not too ashamed to admit that I occasionally use it as a step on sport routes to cheat through a move. I wanted something a little longer for klemheist hitches, less bulky( sewn vs tied) and stronger. This was perfect. I got the longer length so that I would have plenty to wrap around for more secure friction hitches and to make sure I could continue to step into it to cheat through sections of climbs. The increased strength gives me more options for the material if needed. The longer length means I have to make slightly more wraps as an autoblock on my leg loop to prevent it from hitting my rappel device but this might be the perfect motivation to extend my rappel device like I should have been doing anyways. Regardless, without rappel extension, it still allows a pretty smooth movement with the extra wraps. And the flat material makes the klemheist much nicer.
5
Morgan
[ Works like a charm! It ’s very durable and light. Fits easily on your harness. 10/10 would recommend to others. I use it as a third hand while rappelling

[ The sizes of the two prusiks were just right for me to use one for hands and one for feet while ascending into tree. After a full day use, they did have some burning on them, but not bad. They should last a while for me.
4
steve
[ Bought these for backing up rappels. They definitely get the job done, the sizes are a little odd but they work. The red one is a little bit shorter than I would like.
4
alexc
[ I bought these looking for a backup prusik to always have on my harness for rappelling, but the sizes were a little longer and took up more space than I would have liked.( I 'd prefer something several inches shorter than the red.) I think they 'd be great for ascending rope/arboreal work, but maybe not for the occasional rappel backup.

[ What can I say? It's tubular webbing. Sterling makes a great and consistent product- excellent strength and finish. Olive drab was nicer looking than I expected.
5
PeanutButter
[ I bought this product as I could not find a comparable length from other sources. I did n't want to have to buy multiple 10m ropes and water knot them together if I needed say 12m for a sling. Buying a big roll will allow me to cut to length. Product came with no splices.

A little slick like a snake so it had a tendency to slither away if there was any slope at all when stacking.( Sorry for the alliteration). The color is very nice and half way point is clearly and boldly marked.

These are great ropes! I use mine for ice climbing, it is my second season climbing with them and they are still in great shape and still dry. I love that they are balanced in sturdiness and being not too heavy. I really enjoy using double ropes since it splits the weight to carry between the climbing party. I have found that if you are not cautious they can wrap into knots quite quickly but this is something that has happened to me with most ropes!

I 'm on my second set of these ropes and they have never let me down, except when I want to to go down. Their weight, dry treatment and durability are fantastic. After a long, hard season of big ice and mixed routes, they are showing very little wear. Once the dry treatment is worn they will become my go to for multi pitch rock. I highly recommend these if you are looking to go fast and light and want the high quality that Mammut is know for.

This is my go- to rope for anything in the alpine. From 5th class rock to glacier travel I have used this rope extensively in a variety of terrain. The bright orange is a great contrasting color. Despite its small diameter is very durable and has survived many crampons and sharp rock edges over the past year.

Just wrapped up guiding two weeks ’ guiding in the Black Hills with two of these 80m cords( required for some of the extended pitches and TR situations we were rigging for clients.). Rope selection is always a trade off, but I was surprised by how light and packable these were- and even more surprised by how well they held up to group TR days over long pitches of rough rock. Price is a sweet spot, too. I ’ ll be stocking more of these for sure.

This is my third BD 9. 4 Dry, not because they wear out or need replaced for some reason, but because I have them in different lengths because they 're the best rope I 've ever used! This time I got the 40m because my local crags here in PA are only 18m so it's perfect- very little rope laying on the ground and lighter to back in and out! What a great idea BD to make this 40m rope! I LOVE it!!! Thanks!

This rope is ready to roll right from the box with minimal break in needed. It ’s durable and coil ’s easily. I bought the bd rope marker after reading reviews that the mid mark wears quickly but my mid mark is still clearly visible after 15 to 20 uses( trad mp climbing) in mostly dry conditions. Planning to use this for ice climbing as well. Great rope!

This rope is exactly what a rope should be. Not too thick or thin and dry treated so I can use it on ice or snow in the winter!

Nice and lightweight, works like a dynamic rope should. Right out of the package, it was a little stiff but after a few climbs it feels normal. Oh, and it's freakin' gorgeous.

Safety orange reflective color is good for hanging( and finding) a bear bag. ... So this just made sense for me. ... It is hard to find the color black locally so that's a win

[ You can tie things with it. Safety orange reflective color is good for hanging( and finding) a bear bag. Cut it into shorter lengths if you want.

[ I always pack some 550 with a carabiner already attached. I like the small light weight carabiner because I can quickly setup a ridge line only having to tie one knot. So this just made sense for me. It is hard to find the color black locally so that's a win too.

I mean there's not a lot to say here, it's accessory cord on a spool, it serves exactly the purpose it needs to, just make sure your cuts are clean and well sealed

Great way to get cordelettes custom built or even for use as a static support line. Hold the rope tight, cut with a sharp knife under tension and do n't stab yourself once it goes through. Burn the ends with a standard lighter and you 're good. This is an easy rope to work with, it ties knots well and is plenty flexible to dress even the more complex multi- strand BHKs.

It's cord. Very good cord, but still... it's cord.

mamut cord is just as well made as their ropes. super reliable for anchors, rapelling, and getting out of tight spots.

When selecting a rope for tying knots, consider options made from durable materials like nylon or polyester, as they provide strength and flexibility. Ropes with a smooth texture are often easier to manipulate, allowing for tighter and more secure knots. Additionally, the diameter of the rope can affect knot performance; thinner ropes may be easier to tie but could slip more easily than thicker ones.
Key features to look for in a rope for tying knots include tensile strength, flexibility, and resistance to abrasion. A rope that is lightweight yet strong will facilitate easy handling and knot tying. It's also beneficial to choose a rope with low stretch to maintain knot integrity under load.
Yes, certain ropes are better suited for specific types of knots based on their construction and intended use. For example, climbing ropes are designed to handle dynamic loads and may be ideal for knots used in climbing or rescue situations. Conversely, utility ropes may be more appropriate for general-purpose knots used in outdoor activities or securing items.
The material of a rope significantly impacts its knot-tying capabilities. Ropes made from synthetic fibers like nylon or polyester tend to be more durable and resistant to wear, making them ideal for repeated knot tying. Natural fiber ropes, while traditional, may not hold knots as securely and can degrade over time when exposed to moisture.
Rope diameter plays a crucial role in knot tying, as it affects the ease of tying and the security of the knot. Thicker ropes can create more friction, which may help hold knots better, while thinner ropes can be easier to manipulate but might slip under load. It's essential to choose a diameter that balances ease of use with the intended application of the knot.
