Great rod for 99 bucks, I purchased the 7ft medium action which has great sensitivity with 36 ton graphite, metal locking nut and the trigger is very comfortable to fish with. I personally like the carbon fiber reel butt a lot, which is very nice looking and adds to the lightness of the rod. Nice lightweight rod especially paired up with my JDM Metanium. Can cast lighter lures easily if paired up with the right reel. I was able to cast smaller swimbaits which I usually use my spinning rod for. Loved it so far hoping it holds up well.

It takes a good combination of rod, reel and line. I use them for Snakehead fishing and have never had a problem yanking them out of the junk.

I 've had next to no backslashes while casting 1/4 ounce lures in breezy conditions. Without tightening up the reel. Low profile reels sit well in the reel seat for palming them. Gives the rod a sleek design. The rod is light and balanced. I have experienced very little fatigue fishing with it for 6 hours. Very sensitive feedback with jigs and crankbaits. First catch was an 18inch bass. This is an amazing and versatile rod for kayak fishing.

The only down side I have to the rod is the bait holder hook on the rod is right under your hand, which is a terrible spot if using treble hooks, or any hooks for that matter. I ’ ve been fishing over 30 years now and throwing a bait caster since I was a teenager and I ’ ll tell you this thing is killer all jokes aside. The rod on the American hero surpasses the rod on The mach II I have both of these combos, but Ive had to glue the rods tip eye back on twice now with the Mach II it Pulled itself out of the tip of the rod, just by setting the hook on a Small bass, Didn ’ t notice until it felt different when I would cast and the Mach II costs a 100$ ’s more… The two rods are designed completely different in the way the tip is attached The American hero rod being far superior in quality. I wish Lews would Address this matter, it is cheaply done on the Mach II and a bummer. But anyway, if you are on the fence about purchasing the American hero combo jump on off and do it you ’ ll be stoked, my friend Fish on and keep your line tight

Got this rod a month ago to target bass. It has done great I can flip jigs in heavy cover as well as cast crank baits 100 feet with ease. Paired the combo with suffix 60 lbs line and have taken one 9 lb bass and another one at 10 lbs
