[ Great axe. I bought this for some light mountaineering and it does not disappoint. Light, sturdy, dependable. Highly recommend this ice axe.
5
Topsykaye
[ This axe is the perfect size, durability and weight for my lightweight backpacking adventures. Ordered it based on a recommendation from a friend and so glad I did.
5
Soup water
[ I bought this axe because of its ability to self arrest on ease and it works flawlessly It ’s pick construction makes grabbing the ice easy and as a beginner I wanted the reassurance that I got an axe that can save my life
5
Corriveauchris1211
[ I purchased this axe for a mountaineering school on Rainer. This ice axe is great for general mountaineering but also versatile enough for complex or steep routes. I like the rubberized grip and curved shaft which elevate it from the design of a standard ice axe. These features really assist on steep snow climbing. Additionally, the teardrop design of the shaft make it more comfortable in the mid- dagger position. Finally, the weight is still relatively low despite its solid design.

[ I have been climbing for 30 years in total and in various iterations of this harness for a long time now. It ticks all of the boxes in terms of function, fit, and durability, and especially price. One of the things that I like most about it are the gear loops. A lot of brands put their loops too low on the harness in my opinion, which causes gear to hang down around your lower leg. I prefer things to sit higher so that everything is tighter to my body when I move. The harness trad climbs and sport climbs equally well. The only downside to it is the weight being a little on the heavy side. I prefer a 32 inch waist in pants and wear a size medium in this harness, which puts me at the bottom end of the fit and allows me to cinch the waist within a cm of all the way down. This puts the gear loops more towards the front. When you look at the size range for a harness, always make sure to consider that the measurement will be smaller than your waist size because you wear it above your hips.
5
Jordie_62
[ I work at a university gym and am constantly giving long catches to new climbers who take tons of falls. This harness is a solid gym contender with great belay comfort and has the perfect amount of storage for multiple belay devices, a PAS, and extra carabiners and slings. If you ’ re looking for a no frills do all harness this is it.
5
Jerbs
[ This harness is simple but effective. No frills, only what you need. The leg straps do n't need to be tightened since all you really need to stay safe is a tight hip harness, so it makes it really comfy to put on.
5
stine2
[ used this on several climbs now and it's good to go!!! so far no problems at all and I 'm a bigger climber but the stretchy leg harness helps out a lot!!

[ I 've had a couple of Petzl SAMA harnesses that each lasted for years. The indoor/gym harness in particular stayed so fresh that people asked if it was a new harness for a couple years after purchase. But it was really the fit( with just a little padding), foolproof elastic leg loops, and bomber durability that brought me back for the 3rd time. The only real differences with the current version is that it looks better than ever. The heather gray is understated and contemporary- it 'll accent your insanely bright puffer or shoes. Will definitely buy again.

[ Incredible handling and climbing right out of the package with minimal coil. Superior handling to any rope I 've used before( Petzl, BD, Mammut, etc.). Even with the double dry coating, the rope is still super subtle and handles as though there's no coating on it at all.

[ I have done about 35 pitches with this rope. Aside from the normal stress getting twists out that most new ropes give i am really impressed with the handling of this rope and how easily it feeds through belay devices. It still catches falls really nicely though. I have used this rope with a rope bag except on multipitches so i am surprised at how much dirt this rope has picked up. Although we did get caught in the rain once and it may have been a little damp on the next outing. I will give it a wash and evaluate further

[ I bought this harness a few months ago and it had arrived after about 5 days. This harness I plan to stick with this for years to come. This harness is lightweight for all of the equipment loops with are very nicely made and the rigid loops at the front do their job. I am very pleased with petzls redesign of this harness!

[ I absolutely love this harness. The quality is amazing and it adjust to fit perfectly no matter what I am waring. I added the new petzl ice clip and it couldn ’ t be a better fit. This harness is amazingly comfortable, I bought it to to do tree work and belay my kids but my new Battman Belt has renewed my sense of adventure so I am planning exciting climbing and repelling adventures for my kids and I. Life is good!

[ fits well. gear loops are where you expect them. unobtrusive when you 're climbing. haul loop in the back is a bit difficult to access, but I 'm sure I 'd recommend this harness.

Tim R
[ So happy with this harness. Easy to put on, Feels great, light, and keeps your straps out of your way. The belay loop is also slimmer than those super wide belay loops which is nice because it stays out of your way when being belayed. No negatives. A+++

It ’s comfortable and light and compact. It has everything you need to start.

James K
I ordered this as my first personal harness as I was provided one for a job I had. The harness is very comfortable and the multiple adjustment points make for a great fit. ATC does ATC things, chalk bag is nice but the strap on it is super thin if you care about that. Great beginner kit for anyone starting out. It did n't apply for a shipping deal Mammut had with the rest of my gear and ended up costing as much as it says it was listed for before the deal. So look out for that if you 're buying it with a lot of other things. Overall great no problems with product.
5
Preston K
Pretty new to top roping and this bundle has all of the bells and whistles. Fits great, easy to adjust, and a 2nd chalk bag( have one for bouldering) is nice. My friends who have years of climbing exp and got me hooked approved to say the least

Jacinto F
This harness is comfortable for a full day in the alpine. I spent 16+ hours wearing this harness scrambling, alpine trad climbing, rappelling, and doing some sketchy snow crossings. While a bit heavier than some of the Petzl options it ’s 100% worth it for the comfort.
5
James B
I bought this harness because I wanted a low weight, compact harness for mountain guiding and glacier travel. It worked perfectly and was super comfortable to wear while traversing the glacier even with my backpack on. Also, in general it is a really comfortable harness to wear for top rope and gym lead. I have n't used it for sport or trad yet, but I 'll update when I have.
5
I originally got this harness for ice climbing as it has 6 different ice tool clipper spots( on both sides, 12 total) of the waist. This allowed me to put my ice tool clippers exactly where I wanted them versus where they have to be on other harnesses. It is very lightweight with functional gear loops. I recently took it alpine climbing and it felt awesome having it on all day, even through the more scrambly areas of the climb. Would highly recommend especially for women that have a bigger chest or hips and need to put ice tool clippers in specific spots in order to see them. I have a Large which works great with winter layers but I could have also fit a medium. I am 5' 6 '' and 170 lbs.
5
Somehow this harness has less padding and is lighter weight than the Ophir slide or the black diamond momentum harness, but is actually more comfortable when sitting in it for a long time. I 'd highly recommend if you have a bit more money to throw in for a harness that you want to be lightweight and still comfy. Fits true to size.
5
Amazin harness which is surprisingly comfortable and does not consume any space in the backpack. I am using it for trad climbing. I climb with 14 cams, 12 slings, and three sets of nuts/tricams. I also carry cordlette, belay device and bunch of lockers. All these can be comfortably clipped to the harness. The front gear loops are bigger and the gear is easy to unclip/clip. I use the front gear loops for cams and draws. The rear loops I use for nuts, lockers and belay devices. The harness has also a small gear loop at the rear in the middle. I use this for the nut tool and sometimes the radio. The harness feels good on my body and I do n't even feel it while climbing. The only little thing I found is the seem in front without any padding pushing against my bones. I did not experience it with my previous harness ocun Ego. Anyway, it is not too annoying and I might get used to it very soon.

[ I needed a new harness for high alpine use where my standard rock climbing harness was not a great fit. This one is very light, super packable, and the leg loop buckles mean you dont have to take off crampons or snowshoes to put it on. Exactly what I needed.

[ Bought this for my daughter for alpine climbing because I was impressed with the quality and it ’s ultralight weight. Perfect for snow and glacier travel. However, if you expect to hang on a rock or ice wall you will want something designed with hanging in mind.

[ Purchased exclusively for high altitude glaciated climbing. Comfortable to climb wearing roped or unroped, while belaying/rappelling or crevasse rescue training. Plenty of room on single loops each side for carabiners, cams, stoppers, ropes, etc. Highly recommend due to lighter weight.

[ This is everything you need in an ascender, it's light but feels bomber in your hands. Not tiny either, you could get a bear paw in there. Super smooth moving up the rope and the catch is easy to work with one hand. 'Biner holes big enough for about anything... just another solid Petzl product!

I am a 64 year old man, 6' 3 '', 255 lbs. I use this ascender for roof climbing and tree trimming. I know. Little old to be monkeying in trees, but I like to do things myself. The Petzl Ascender has yet to `` let me down ''. Actually it `` let's me down '' perfectly.

Super lightweight harness great for ski traverses. The sizing is a bit smaller than expected.
4
This is a great ultralight harness& super versatile and comfortable( for what it is). Excellent functionality and some of the best racking on this type of harness. Super light and compact too. I prefer this to the Petzl Fly. That said- the sizing is off. I 'm a 32 '' waist and based on Mammut's sizing chart I should be a comfortable medium. In reality I barley squeeze into the medium's hip belt. I have thick legs and the legs are fine though. Overall, I 'd highly recommend this harness, with the caviot that folks should try it on in- store. Hopeful that Mammut can address the sizing issue, but likely plan to size up on this harness. Would be 5 stars, but for the sizing issue.

I bought this harness for my move to France. Some of the best climbing gyms in the world are in Paris where I was based. I used it 50+ times over the past year that I lived in Paris. For this harness I would say it ’s a great price point, I felt safe using it, didn ’ t have issues with it rubbing against my skin when I wore shorts, loved the look to it, easy to break in, and got many compliments on it. Used it for top rope throughout Europe. Would highly recommend getting this to anyone looking for a good climbing harness and would get this as a gift for my friends any day.

Easy to adjust and wear, comfortable too. Use this several times a week for indoor climbing and also outdoors. Has held up nicely so far.
5
This harness gives me the comfort of taking big whips and light on my hips. Used the Ophir Slide 3 for years and just found a new upgrade. The hard draw loops are way nice for single pitch sport outdoors as I do n't have to worry about my draws flying all over the place. The rigid plastic keeps them close to my body allowing for faster clipping even though I 'm not that fast. Well good and love Mammut

[ I bought this harness to replace a worn out Black Diamond, and I am so glad that I did. The adjustment system is very user- friendly, and feels secure. I 'm 5'10 '' and about 250, and the XL fit with room to spare, but the legs did n't have much more room to grow. I love the accessory hooks and elastic components that add a lot of comfort. I also appreciate that they built in material alerts if things are fraying or wearing out. I have ran through my previous orphir 3 slide and it is a fantastic overall beginner/intermediate harness. Overall use it for gym and outdoor climbing. I am more into comfort padded climbing harnesses vs lightweight and non adjustable climbing harnesses. The adjustable leg straps and hip are great and can fit me and friends if they borrow the harness. I like the wear stitching being bright red and easy to locate/see is fantastic. I also love the semi hard gear loops they can fit all my quick drawers and climbing gear when outside. Overall would definitely recommend this harness to anyone looking for a comfy great harness.

I 've been using the ophir 3 for 5 years and have had zero complaints about it. although I do n't get to climb as often as I used to, it still is very comfortable and sturdy and I have no concerns going on a climb. I have no doubt that this harness will serve me for several more years, and when I finally do have to lay it to rest, I would buy another mammut harness. 5/5 stars. Definitely recommend.

The attachment loop for the d ring in the front is solid and I feel safe when climbing. The only complaint I have is the leg straps hurt when being belayed. I would recommend this to anyone getting into rock climbing. It ’s an overall well viewed brand and great product.

I 'm 5'10 '' and about 250, and the XL fit with room to spare, but the legs did n't have much more room to grow. I love the accessory hooks and elastic components that add a lot of comfort. I also appreciate that they built in material alerts if things are fraying or wearing out. I know that the white will get dirty, but it looks great, is built well, and I really appreciate that it comes with the bag... although it's hard to fit in there after you unfold it.

Fantastic rope and durability. I buy new rope every year and this one has not disappointed. I went with the larger 9. 8 vs 9. 5 and it ’s great for Trad days and normal wear and tear. If you are heavy and belayer a lighter individual just need to ensure they are really good with catches. The 9. 8 has a little less elasticity than the smaller ropes and could create harder catches. But no issues with good belayers knowing how to catch. Rope has stayed cleaner then other classic crag ropes and doesn ’ t seem to collect dirt as easily. Overall would recommend.
5
Zubin C
It's nothing glamorous, but so far it's held up extremely well. Rope is easy to clip and feeds well through various belay devices.

iIf you 're looking for a good, do everything well, climbing rope, this is your rope. It's extremely durable, just enough stretch for soft catches, and it holds up extremely well to the hard and sharp limestone and sandstone of the Southeast US. Definitely recommend this product for everyone. if you 're a beginner, this rope will stick with you well into an expert level and serve you well. If you 're already advanced.... this rope wo n't let you down

[ Overall, this backpack is great. It fits an 80m rope, two helmets, plenty of quickdraws, shoes, harness and more( although its a tight fit with all of those things). The backpack design is good, and i like that the front of the backpack is what touches the ground, not the side that goes on your back. My only complaint is that the backpack is very simple- there are no loops to clip stuff onto, or pockets for waterbottles, which is a bit annoying if you need to hike a bit. Overall a fantastic bag, especially for the price!!

This is exactly what I wish I woupdve bought myself years ago, the tarp comes ou easily in the center and the handles on the corners make it super easy to shift over a few feet at the crag. I climb at a gym that only requires a 30m rope, so I can buy this rope in a 60m and use the hot knife to make two gym ropes. I put a lot of mileage and take a lot of whippers every week on this rope and can honestly say it's the best rope for the job. 9. 5mm is a perfect size( not too thick, not too thin for any GriGri), and I 've never encountered early soft spots, sheath slippage or other issues that plague other ropes since I 've switched to this rope several years ago. I have purchased three of these ropes and the quality is consistent as well!

I ’ ve used this rope for the last year as my multipitch rope, and it ’s still going strong after a few hundred pitches. After a couple weeks it did lose the dry treatment, but not an issue for me in the Sierra. You can not go wrong with Mammut ropes. They are reliable, easy to flake( well, as easy as that can be), and smooth through the belay device. This is a great go- to rope, treated for some of our damper crags and surprise rain. Evident quality boosts confidence while high on the route. As I have written in past Mammut reviews, I am never afraid to put loved ones up on their ropes. Happy climbing, y ’ all!
5
Cooper H
I ’ ve used this rope for two years now for both sport and trad climbing, as well as top roping. Not only do I appreciate the dry- treatment and its ability to keep the rope dry if a surprise shower comes, but it also increases the durability of the rope which I can definitely tell the difference in. Though the dry treatment has faded with various washings, I was able to use the rope for ice climbing before that and it worked very well in those conditions. Overall, I would highly recommend this rope to other climbers. I have a 70m version of it, and it ’s been great across the country to access different climbs.
5
Zachary R
If I were to own only one rope, this would be it. The balance of durability, weight, and elasticity make it the rope I reach for the most when I am headed to the crag. It also feeds well through a grigri and atc style devices. I 've used other ropes that are more supple or lighter, but are less durable or stretch too much. I use this rope for single pitch and multi pitch trad mostly, and sometimes for toprope and sport. This rope balances them all nicely.

Purchased a pair of Mammut 8. 0 Alpine Dry Ropes for a recent trip to the Alps. They were used for glacier travel, alpine and rock climbing. Mammut is steadily becoming my `` go to '' gear and apparel when heading into the mountains.

Limited experience as rock fall destroyed the core at the midpoint. I Love these ropes though, they feel firm but subtle in your belays, they clip easy as they dont flop around. I have 3. 5 of these ropes and I 'd recommend for any twin set up, LFG!!!

These are great ropes! I use mine for ice climbing, it is my second season climbing with them and they are still in great shape and still dry. I love that they are balanced in sturdiness and being not too heavy. I really enjoy using double ropes since it splits the weight to carry between the climbing party. I have found that if you are not cautious they can wrap into knots quite quickly but this is something that has happened to me with most ropes!

[ I 've owned one of these for a year and used several times for glacier travel in the Cascades, including a mountaineering course on Mt. Baker during which I was suspended in a crevasse with this harness for 15 to 20 minutes while others were learning how to haul me out. Despite it being so light, it's actually surprisingly comfortable due to the fairly wide, flat leg loops. It's also very easy to get on and off while wearing crampons or skis, which is essential for an alpine harness.

We 've been climbing on my friend's Alpine Sender Dry for a while now( she actually has two so they can be used as twin ropes) and just loved it so got our own. It's nice and light and belaying is so comfortable and lightens the load a lot for multi- pitch climbing as well as the weight carried on the approach. Mammut is may favored brand-- they come coiled in a way that does n't require any extra work to get out kinks, and they are soft and supple to use.

I have now used this rope a number of times ranging from Alpine Rock Climbing in Colorado and the Tetons to a glacier rope on the Ptarmigan traverse and Rainier. It is truly terrific. The rope is easy to work with, whether throwing into and out of kiwi coils to setting up a hanging belay. Overall I am quite happy and despite hard use has shown little signs of wear. The coating on the rope works quite well especially in long days on glacier with it running between dirt to water.
5
Leif M
Would I recommend this as an introductory rope for TR project sessions? Nope. Does it hit the sweet spot for versatility as a single or double rope? Absolutely. The Alpine Sender Dry has great handling and is thick enough to inspire confidence when used as a single. When used as doubles it allows groups of 3 to climb multipitch and offers improved safety over tagline tactics on double rope rappels.

I purchased the Alto TR1 after having a disastrous experience with the MSR Freelite 1. The Alto provides superior shoulder and headroom, with a well placed door. Its super easy to pitch, and the little triangular space that pops out on the otherwise rectangular floor space makes the tent feel roomier, and provides space for my dog or gear. The vestibule is large and the ventilation, overall, with the fly closed, is pretty good. I bikepacked in below freezing overnight temperatures, and there was a bit of condensation at the foot of the tent, and overhead- even with the peak vents open and the cover unzipped. However, somecondensation is always expected when there is ice on the outside of the fly. 🥶 I highly recommend this tent for anyone looking to lighten their load backpacking or bikepacking. The tubular storage pack strapped down nicely on top of my handlebar dry bag. Well done, S2S!

I bought this tent almost 2 years ago, and am not mad about this purchase. Over the couple years I 've owned it, I 've used it 10- 15 times maybe more not sure. So far it has held up very well. I like how it has three different bags one for tent, fly, and poles. This allows for packing it separate in your pack, or between two packs. You also have the option to connect the pole bag to the fly and tent bag to make it on unit vs three. Also these bags also can serve a purpose inside you tent as gear holders and the pole bag as a lantern which is cool that they have more than one use. However the lantern is a joke as it's hard to snap on and comes off easily, so a good idea just needs some improvement. I found when I first bought my tent that it was hard to pack up as I was folding it up, and then it was extremely difficult to get into the bag, same with the fly. After a few times I started just stuffing in into the bag like a stuff sack, works way better and can have it all packed in minutes. Another thing I love is I was on an overnight backing trip by the coast, and during the night it started to rain and continued till mid morning. I was able to take down my tent and pack it up and fold up my footprint all under the fly. After my pack was pretty much ready to go, still under the fly where it was dry, I then took down my fly and poles packed that and hit the trail! I did get a 2 person mostly to use as a one person and have plenty of room, but have once used it with one of my friends which was pretty tight. So do n't highly recommend sleeping two unless you ’ re comfortable sleeping really close together. There is room for a backpack and some gear under each vestibule so completely doable. All and all I really like this tent it's versatile, practical, and light.

[ The multiple little loops as opposed to just a large single one makes this the best gear loop out there hands down in my opinion. And it ’s the same price as the other types. Simple decision to me.

[ I just bought this so it ’s only been used twice. Having the extra loops handy allows me to take more gear on climbs. I had previously put extra non lockers on slings( put over my shoulders and under my arm) but it ’s so much easier in the loops. Plus I can see all the gear that right in front instead of trying to identify gear on my harness.

[ Bought this primarily for chimney use, for which it works wonderfully; especially with the loop design which keeps things organized and separated instead of just being one unruly blob of biners which can be very frustrating when things get sketchy. It also makes for great rack organization even when it ’s not being worn.

[ It's simple and works well. It's way more comfy than hanging everything off a sling, and if you 're doing multi- pitch stuff, then unless you have an extra gear loop on your harness it's going to be too crowded. Great solution. It also, is nice to slide all your gear to the front or back for off- width stuff.

[ I ’ ve used this bag for years and it is indestructible. I left a banana in it for weeks and the smell was destructive to my nose. Had to clean it many times before the smell went away. It ’s sill like new on the inside. It does not have a strap or method to lash a rope on the outside. It ’s a haul bag but also a crate pack for me. I would like that option. So i bought a BD creek 50. Regarding. Comfort, it ’s not. It ’s a haul bag with shoulder straps and removable waist belt. I do love it. It has lasted with no damage in the rock environment. If this pack suits your needs, you won ’ t regret it. It ’s. Haul bag first and a backpack last..

[ Title says it all. These screws bite quickly even in hard ice and turn in fast and smooth when you need a placement now. Flip- down rotating grip stays out of the way on your clipper, yet feels sturdy when turning in alpine ice.

[ I bought these screws last week and they worked great. Also bought a Weston Range splitboard here and I love it. They gave me a deal on black diamond skins as well. Super cool staff.

[ Keeps me moving forward not the ice. Love the addition to my rack. Always nice to have a fresh screw to drive into the ice on a cold morning.
Summit climbing gear is primarily designed for various climbing activities, including sport climbing, ice climbing, and mountaineering. These activities often require specialized equipment that enhances safety, performance, and comfort during climbs. Whether you're scaling rock faces or navigating icy terrains, having the right gear is essential for a successful ascent.
When selecting summit climbing gear, consider features such as durability, weight, and ease of use. Look for materials that can withstand harsh weather conditions and provide reliable performance. Additionally, features like adjustable straps, ergonomic designs, and compatibility with other gear can enhance your climbing experience.
Choosing the right size for summit climbing gear is crucial for both comfort and safety. It's important to refer to size charts provided by manufacturers and measure your body accurately. Additionally, trying on gear when possible can help ensure a proper fit, especially for items like harnesses and clothing that need to be snug yet comfortable.
Summit climbing gear is typically made from high-performance materials designed for strength and durability. Common materials include lightweight synthetic fabrics for clothing, aluminum or steel for hardware, and specialized plastics for protective gear. These materials are chosen to withstand the rigors of climbing while providing comfort and flexibility.
Summit climbing gear enhances safety by providing essential support and protection against falls and environmental hazards. Equipment such as harnesses, helmets, and protective devices are designed to absorb impact and distribute forces evenly. Additionally, using high-quality gear reduces the risk of equipment failure, ensuring a safer climbing experience.
When using summit climbing gear in varying weather conditions, it's important to consider factors such as insulation, breathability, and waterproofing. Gear designed for cold or wet conditions should offer adequate protection against the elements while allowing moisture to escape. Always check the weather forecast and be prepared with the appropriate gear to ensure comfort and safety during your climb.
