Mainers from Maryland
Bought this last month so my husband and I could take our bikes around to different trails in Maine. The rack is easy to use and easy to put on and off my SUV. No fuss and low profile if you want to leave it on your vehicle for an extended time. Super easy to fold it down to open hatch.

Installed the Insta Water Pro on my truck bed and it works fantastic. The security and stability of the clamp is very stable. The bike are easily able to be moved in and out of truck with no issue. My Thule bike rack makes things a lot easier to transport mountain bikes. I highly recommend this purchase.

[ I finally got to use my Thule insta Gator bike rack and it worked like a dream. I have Chevy Colorado and had to secure the rear wheel in the bike rack with the front wheel turned to the side. Had no problem with bike fitting in the truck bed. I will put a strap across the bike frame next putting just for extra stability.

Very high quality.. Heavy gauge metal and good coating.. good design although the release mechanism is close to the derailleur on my two bikes, if it was higher up the arm it would n't hit anything. Other than that it's a great product

I purchased this a couple weeks ago and it easily locks down my bikes- mtn, gravel and road. The cable on the lock is a little short but it ’s effective.

When selecting a tailgate bike carrier, consider features such as weight capacity, compatibility with your vehicle, and ease of installation. Look for carriers that offer adjustable arms or cradles to securely hold your bikes in place. Additional features like integrated locks for security and foldable designs for compact storage can also enhance usability.
Tailgate bike carriers are designed to accommodate a variety of bike types, including mountain bikes, road bikes, and hybrid bikes. It's important to check the carrier's specifications to ensure it can handle the frame size and weight of your specific bikes. Some carriers may also have adjustable features to fit different bike styles.
To ensure compatibility, check the manufacturer's guidelines for the tailgate bike carrier, which typically list compatible vehicle makes and models. Additionally, consider the design of your vehicle's tailgate and hitch, as some carriers may require specific hitch sizes or configurations. If in doubt, consult with a professional or the retailer for assistance.
Tailgate bike carriers are often constructed from materials such as steel or aluminum, which provide strength and durability. Steel carriers tend to be heavier but offer robust support, while aluminum carriers are lighter and more resistant to rust. Consider the material based on your usage frequency and the environmental conditions you expect to encounter.
While the primary function of a tailgate bike carrier is to transport bikes, some models may offer versatility for carrying other gear or equipment. Features like additional storage racks or attachments can allow for carrying items such as coolers or camping gear. Always check the manufacturer's recommendations to ensure safe usage beyond bike transport.
Tailgate bike carriers offer several advantages, including easy access to your bikes and the ability to transport multiple bikes securely. They typically provide a more stable ride compared to roof-mounted carriers, reducing the risk of bike damage during transit. Additionally, tailgate carriers often allow for better fuel efficiency since they do not raise the vehicle's height.
