I wish I would have went down a half size or worn thicker socks. You must wear taller socks so it does n't rub on your skin. Best winter hunting boots you can get. I 've been using mine for about 10 years now, and buy a set for each of my teens each year. If you get the fit right, they do n't pull your socks down when you walk. Very good for walking unlink the tradition tall boots. Most importantly, they are the only boots that you can sit for a couple of hours in the winter with and your feet do n't get cold. These keep my pants clean below knees,& socks/feet dry from all the mud/standing water I encounter. Very comfortable& also good traction in mud& on wet/slick surface. I purchased the wide calf because of the adjustable feature because it can close down to same diameter as regular calf, but can be loosened to allow for much easier time putting on& removing
