Where I live( Washington DC) we do n't get crazy amounts of snow, but we will have the occasional winter storm and get 6- 10 inches or so. I needed a boot to keep my feet warm and dry when I walk my dog, run errands, etc. But I did n't need super heavy duty boot to shovel snow in. I chose this because I liked that the shaft was n't too high, so I could still wear it with most of my pants. We just had a winter storm. The snow was deep enough that it covered my entire boot and yet they kept my feet SUPER warm and I did n't feel slippery when walking on ice. The waterproof material kept my feet dry, and they are also SUPER CUTE! I am a true 7. 5( according to the size chart; my feet are 24 cm), but I still ordered a size 8 based on reviews saying it ran small, and I think I made the right decision. I think if I ordered my exact size I would n't have room to wear thick socks.

I have gotten rid of one pair, a suede pair, because after years of being in the elements they were not looking very professional anymore- but the shoe was still holding up minus the, understandably, worn down tread on the ball of the foot. The Emelie can be slipped on and off! Totally love this feature in a bootie. I ’ m still breaking them in but the foot shape that Sorel uses fits my “ pizza ” feet well( thinner mid foot and slightly wider toe splay).
