This bag is advertised as a swimming but it works excellent as a gym bag. It has a large open compartment which works great for packing a weightlifting belt, straps, towels, lock and other gym essentials. It has one large front pocket and plenty of side pockets. This bag has many uses. This bag is also built very well and I believe will stand the test of time.

[ I 've used an inflatable pillow for decades, first a 2. 5 '' one that doubled as a seat pad, then a STS 4. 5 '' pad, and finally this one which at 5. 5 '' thick is actually comfortable for my neck. I typically sleep at home with two pillows, and this is just what I needed to be comfortable. The fabric is comfortable on your face and the pillow is silent as you roll over.
5
Jason B.
[ These pillows are fantastic. It is approximately the size of an actual pillow. It is very comfortable. We find that they are perfect when they are not quite completely full of air. We fill them up and then let a little out. We also have the smaller version of this pillow which is also great when weight is a factor. On most trips I will be sacrificing a few ounces and using this pillow. It folds up pretty small and compact. Well worth the money to ensure a great nights sleep. Highly recommended!!

[ We just got hit pretty much back - to - back by Helene and Milton, and this made a great go - bag to evacuate from the hurricanes! It ’s very well built and easy to carry, there ’s plenty of room for evacuation essentials, and all of my stuff stayed dry! All sorts of camping and survival supplies are very popular here in hurricane country — even though I don ’ t know of a single person who actually voluntarily goes camping around here! The only thing I wish I could change about the bag is the color! I really wanted a hot pink, or at least a bright neon orange or yellow! Still, the red and yellow is considerably more visible than the basic black. I received the correct item, in good condition, in a decent amount of time. The packaging was frankly ridiculous, though! It ’s very flat and took up minimal room, even without rolling it up – so there was no reason to send it in a massive cardboard box the size of a golf bag, for goodness sakes!
5
Curt C.
[ I ’ ve taken it on one back country trip and a few other over nighters, and have found the pack to be great. I like the white interior for finding gear and the quality of the bag seems durable overall. The straps themselves aren ’ t the most comfortable when your bag gets heavier but for my portages I ’ m never wearing the pack for much more than an hour between paddles. I would personally prefer a bit of extra bulk and weight if that was the compromise to have a slightly more padded shoulder.

[ As an avid canoeist I ’ m always looking for tough but lightweight gear for canoe tripping. Over the last few years my gear closet has transitioned almost entirely to Sea to Summit gear. I have been using Fjällräven backpacks for a long time now. I decided to splurge and get one for my daughter's first day of Kindergarten. Some people will think I am crazy for spending so much money on a child's backpack, but the Fjällräven quality is unmatched. Their backpacks are incredibly durable, beautifully simplistic, and pleasantly comfortable to wear. This backpack easily fits my daughter's school issued Chromebook laptop with plenty of room to spare. It has been used every single day for school, weekend trips, camping trips, and family vacations, but it is still in excellent condition.

My torso is 17 '' so I purchased the S/M size expecting it to be on the shortest setting. [ I have purchased 2 of these packs, one for me and one for my son. We go camping monthly with our local BSA troop and use them to carry all our gear for each campout. They will also be used for various other camping trips as they are quite adaptable for various needs and capacities. Plenty of storage, plenty of thought was put into the design and the quality is amazing. Their warranty is pretty amazing as well.

I 've had this pack for 4+ years now. I take it on a couple backpacking trips a year on average and some day hikes where I 'm carrying more than normal. It's always fit everything I need. I 've carried a large tandem packraft and paddles with it( alpacka forager). I 've hiked 30 miles of the Kesugi Ridge Trail with it. The most notable use I think was for a caribou hunt I did a couple years ago on the Denali Highway. I packed out a cow caribou including all meat and 4 quarters bone in and the hide with my other knives and day pack type gear 5 miles down a mountain side and back to the parking lot via the trail. Roughly 100lbs. No buckles broke or came undone under tension, no rips, straps worked well to keep the load secure and close to my body. It only creaked and groaned a bit under that load, but otherwise performed well especially for not being a hunting pack. I would buy again!

66 yr old short woman, and I love the ease of this pack and the great comfort of the carry. I like a bear vault, and no trouble packing it in this. I 've been using this Surge backpack since 2019 and it has been great! I 've heard my family's thoughts on the newer model of the same backpack and they are not as impressed. The straps are more prone to breaking and the seams have started tearing pretty early in the life of their backpack. This being said, my older model has been so great! It's gone through years of hauling notebooks, folders, textbooks, water bottles, and clothes for practice after school. One of the shoulder straps did begin to tear last year( 2024) slightly but a quick stitch - job has got it back to working order. I would definitely buy a North Face backpack again!

[ This was a gift for my nephew. I ’ ve owned my Raptor 14 pack for 5 years of heavy use. Simply put, it ’s my top goto pack. The bite valve wears out over time, but is easily remedied with a Osprey replacement valve. I love this pack because it ’s big enough to haul ample of water for long rides and carry warm clothing for when the sun drops and you have a long( and cold) descent back home.
5
Eric L.
[ I recently tried the raptor 14 update. This pack has some very cool new features that set it apart from the older edition. The hydration bag connection to the pack itself has a slip and lock feature that makes the hanger secure, and the tube and bite valve are ported through a zipper sleeve to the user. A continuous stretch pocket runs along the exterior of the pack that allows for small and large gear to be tightened down with a cinch down pull strap. A roll out tool bag that can also be handy for first aid. This bag is definitely the brain child of an active user.

I hiked across Spain for 500 miles over 35 days carrying this pack. I had NO issues and it was so comfortable. I carried about 13 - 15 lbs with a water bladder. Only wish the water bladder nozzle had a cover as every time I set the pack down my nozzle touched the ground - good for my immune system! I just feel so grateful for my pack. One of your sales people on the phone recommended it after I tried several other models and sizes. Could n't be happier. One of the zippers broke before my trip but it was n't key. I will call regarding this. Otherwise - highly recommend this pack. So light, so comfy, so kind to my body after a long haul. Thank you.

This backpack is great. I appreciate all the compartments it has, especially the quick access at the front of the bag. I recently switched to a thinner reusable water bottle and I feel that it is too small for the side pockets. I also do n't think it stands up the best which is why I give it a 4/5. Everything else is great, it looks great, fits everything as I am a medical student working long hours.

Way too stiff for my liking, I did keep it as I was an idiot& cut the tags off - all that being said, it is made well, heavy duty fabric& zippers. That for me was why I did not like it, at 65 it was hard for my fingers to get the zippers working in the hard creased fabric. For those with young, or just nimble strong fingers, perfect bag!

I bought this bag like 3 - 4 years ago and it holds up great still looks new! No water and tear I can tell it ’s made to last a very long time. It was worth the money and is a great everyday mini bag to carry with you like a purse. And I love the black/rainbow color it makes the rainbow color pop out more!

I bought the Kanken mini with a chest strap for when I ’ m going on small adventures round the coast and generally need to do some climbing. I ’ m really surprised at how much it can hold and have been using it constantly! It ’s got enough room to carry my text books for uni with some space left for my water bottle. The side pockets aren ’ t very big but I ’ ve found they perfectly fit my iPhone 6 or a small glasses case. I definitely advise buying this bag if you are considering it!

[ I absolutely love this pack, comfortable, durable, and just all around amazing. All the pockets on the out of the pack make for easy assess for essential gear. I also really like how the top comes off to make for a day pack. This is my second Osprey pack and I highly recommended these to any outdoor enthusiasts

[ Osprey is awesome. They stand behind their warranty. I had an Aether 70 that had zipper and buckle issues, with some major wear on the straps securing the hip belt. I sent it in; they looked at it, and declared it not worthy of repairing. They sent me an updated model of the backpack I love and recycled parts from my old backpack. What an awesome company!!!
5
Michael T.
[ The stock photo does the color no justice. Absolutely beautiful green in person. High quality all around. Lots of features. Very comfortable to wear, the extendable hip belt is a game changer for me. My last back had very little cushion and didn ’ t come forward far enough for the hips, and this is the opposite. Plenty of adjustment length to fit just about everyone. Very simple to adjust the pack fit to make it work for your body. Plenty of zippers and pockets to keep various things organized Have only taken a short hike with this one so far, but with a 40 pound load it felt great. My last pack had the AG system and it was great, but this feels even better. Still able to ventilate the back area. Looking forward to my trips this year, especially now that I have this.

[ Have only taken this pack on one trek so far but it was great. Very comfortable and distributes weight nicely. I love how convient it is to access the inside of the pack with the front pouch. Only complaint is the water bottle pocket - it ’s very difficult to get a 1. 5 liter Nalgene in and out when the pack is full.
5

I did n't understand the significance of a female - specific pack until I got this one - - I had been using a 75L+ unisex/ male pack for 10+ years and it always felt just a little off. The first time putting this one on, fully loaded, for a 5 day backpacking trip, I realized what a game - changer it was. Originally I was concerned going down in size by 5L, but all the pockets and stash points make up for it. It packs much better than my previous pack and the weight is distributed better and sits on my hips more comfortably. Definitely recommend!
5
Jem J.
Just got this pack as a replacement for my very old and trusted Arial 75. Despite being a guy I got the women's as my last one was a women's and it fit me so well. I am 5' 7 '' '' and 155#. Super comfortable and easy to adjust. I have just used it so far for day backcountry skiing. It easily synched down to a small size and was narrow with no wobble for skiing in the trees. Lots of pockets, I especially like the double pockets in the lid for sorting small stuff.

[ Bought this a few weeks ago for a backpacking trip to Olympic National Park and it ’s been great so far! I ’ m a 5 ’ 9 ” woman with athletic/curvy build. Thoughtful compartments, detachable smaller pack, built in rain cover, and seems pretty lightweight to me. I love the green color of the pack and the neon green color of the rain cover.

I use it for work and anytime I need to have my laptop and iPad on me( a lot of the time). I love how the laptop sleeve has a false bottom so when you place the laptop in the backpack it does n't accidentally knock the surface the backpack may be resting on. I use the sleeve next to the laptop sleeve for files, and it has enough space for everything I need without being too big or too small. Comfortable, no worries. I 'm not thinking about having any other backpack - it suits my needs perfectly.

[ This thing is awesome! Super simple and light weight. Pretty water resistant as well. I use it as my go to and have been caught in some pretty good rain storms and it kept everything dry. The back pad does n't hold too much heat and the taller more narrow shape of the pack does n't feel like you have a bunch of stuff. I 've used it for hikes, weekend trips and as day to day bag. 10/10 would recommend.

This is a very good, very simple bag. It has a small outside pocket on the top and main compartment. I have used it for a few hikes and a few 20+ mile runs with a bladder inside( it does have a loop to keep the bladder upright). Good bag for the money.

I 've used this for mountain runs and sport climbing. It took me a while to discover the hose pass - through for the hydration bladder. Excellent travel backpack for a weekend or as a supplemental bag to a roller. Comfortable when wearing and super useful holding straps for when held to the side or on other bag. My torso is 17 '' so I purchased the S/M size expecting it to be on the shortest setting. I found I needed to have it just under the longest setting to fit me correctly with the middle of the hip belt on my iliac crest. I think you might be able to squeeze into this pack if your torso is 19 '' maximum. Easily the most comfortable pack I have tried on, very happy with my purchase.

[ Just returned from the BWCA with my Aether 65. This is a nice pack that worked well for a 4 day self supported journey deep in the Boundary Waters of Minnesota. Our trip included 5 portages with 3 having quite a bit of undulation. The pack was weighed down with 44lbs of gear and was comfortable( as much as 44lbs of gear can be, definitely dropping some weight on the next trip). I liked it because I typically start trips like this fresh and strong and have my pack set up to that posture with quick( on the fly) adjustments being made as I ’ m flagging from hiking and paddling for hours. Nice pack that is well thought out with all the features you need and none that are useless. Both of my sons were wearing the same pack with zero complaints. Nice product that ’s worth the investment.

Pack arrived in perfect new condition and the price was better than anywhere else. No break in of any kind required and my first trip with it was a 4day/3night 45mi trip. My buddies also bought the same packs for the trip and also gave it high praises. Ca n't recommend this one enough

Great bag. Great size. I bought this bag to replace another 40L bag I had for work and daily use. I was looking for a bag that had plenty of room in a main compartment, while also being able to hold a laptop and smaller items( pens, small tools, notepad). This bag fit the need great. I recently traveled across the country with it and it held up great. The straps and back panel make it comfortable to wear, the roll top makes throwing and grab large items easy, and it did well holding up to a light snow flurry while I was out( though I feel the material would struggle with a heavy soak). I bike commute and found this bag to be useful even to throw a few groceries in on the way home. Overall if you 're looking for a good size do anything bag this is a good fit.

I have this as a backpack and I love it. I am still in high school and I honestly could n't want a better bag. In my opinion it is a little small for all the stuff I had but not too bad. I love the look of it, the skinny cute bag is so nice and i love the light blue on gray. [ My new Kestrel 38 is a replacement for my old Kestrel 38, which I thoroughly wore out, trekking through the Himalayas, Andes, Pyrenees and here at home in the North Cascades. The pack fits perfectly and carries comfortably, not to mention how good looking it is.

I originally bought this pack to walk the Camino de Santiago France, 500 miles. But, it was too tall to use as a carry on bag on the airline. I did train with it and walked a lot of miles through mountains, etc.. Very comfortable and well designed. Everything functions well.

I ’ ve taken this backpack to two different 30 day trips. And I have been through every single situation, terrain( minus snow), 10+ flights( a few made made check in bag) camped, hiked, walked through beaches, visited hostels. Hours in airports and this backpack is A beast. I stuff the heck out of this bag. It packs like a 50L. The top most pocket is so big. Can fit a toiletry bag and more. Still looks new, quality is superb. Passport fits perfectly in hip pockets and snacks and earbud case. Very light and comfortable. My bag was roughly 25 - 40 pounds at all times. Perfect for long trips( 10+ days)

I was reading the reviews and was saddened to see a not so good one... I love my Tempest! I want a new one, only because it is so - so dirty from travel and use. It is my daily driver, I keep it in the car for dogs, hikes, exploring, I take it skiing for snacks, layers, water and goodies, I take it overseas China Great Wall, South Korea Hiking, Europe day trips and for quick outings, hiking, exploring the foreign towns and cities. I am buying a new slick silver one for skiing and day hikes. I 'll keep the old one for the doggies and the car. I love my Tempest!

I recently went on a camping trip to Big Pine, CA. I hiked up to First and Second Lake which was about an 11. 3 mile hike and roughly 6. 5 hours. The Tempest 9 was perfect! I was able to fit a 3L hydration pack, my snacks, a small first aid kit and other items for the hike. I was a little worried the Tempest 9 was going to be too small, but it did the job. When it came time to selecting a size, I measured at 17 '' '' so I could have gone with either the XS/S or the M/L, I went with the XS/S, however, wished I would have went with the M/L. The hipbelt ended up coming up to my bellybutton. Overall, I am really happy with this backpack!

[ I love this pack! Perfect size for a full day out of summiting or ice climbing. Plenty of room to add gear for whatever conditions the mountain decides to throw at you. You definitely get a perfect fit based on the provided adjustments and the feel if the pack distributes the weight beautifully to not weigh you down so that your energy isn ’ t spent by the weight. The fit is part of you so when you are calculating every move on a ridge thousands of feet up, you don ’ t have to worry about your pack. This pack hits it for me in every way for my mountains, cliffs, frozen waterfall needs and the Mars Orange is awesome! Climb on!

Great for the price. I 'm a hydration pack fanatic because I use them several times a week. This one is quite good. The good: Really well made and durable materials. It is a really versatile hydration pack that can be used for hiking, cycling, etc. It has some internal pockets in the main compartment that really distributes your stuff and the weight well and keeps the pack well balanced. The back pads are nice and plush. The straps are stout. The external stuff pockets on the side/front are very useful. I like how the waist straps tuck away if you are not using them. Trekking pole straps/compression straps are nice. The pack is really streamlined, fits snug against the body, and is very stable for activity. The stuff that can be improved: The hydration bladder and bite valve are not the best, but they do function decent and for the price it is not a big deal. It would be nice to have some sort of velcro on the large external stuff pocket just to secure your stuff a little.

Spent three months backpacking in Europe upon my retirement, at age 65, with this wonderful Osprey backpack! We traveled in all kinds of weather and used all modes of transportation! I 've had this pack since 2006. It's been on many adventures with me, from backpacking in Canyonlands to training hikes in Teluride to travel through Taiwan. For several years, I used this bag for grocery shopping and going to the laundry mat, when it was often 70 pounds. It's so comfortable that even fully loaded, I can easily dance while wearing it. This pack has survived bear attacks, rain storms, deserts, baggage handlers, and having its capacity tested endlessly. After 15 years, I 've noticed the first sign of wear - a small tear in a seam. I 'm happy with the longevity of the product, and I 'm heartened that I can send it to Osprey for a professional - level repair for just the cost of one - way shipping. The All Mighty Guarantee is one reason I 'm so loyal to Osprey - they did a fantastic job repairing bear damage, and they quickly sent me a set of replacement buckles after I damaged one of mine. I love how comfortable the hip belt and harness are, partly thanks to the high degree of adjustability. If it every gets lost or stolen, I will happily buy the same bag. I barely notice my bag while I 'm hiking, meanwhile my hiking buddies complain about how uncomfortable their similarly priced non - Osprey packs are, or say how happy they are to get them off. I do n't mind how the weight gets divided on group trips, because I know my pack can handle adding on the tent, carrying more than my share of food, and having a few liters of extra water. If you 're looking for a comfortable bag that you can use in a range of circumstances for decades to come, look no further than the Osprey Ariel.

6/22: had the Sirrus 24 for years. liked it. Compression - fratured lumbar region early spring. Feared hiking days over. stubborn but realistic: Had to carry pack light and high. Wore same clothes daily, hat, pricey poles. Tied jacket around waist, saved pack space for tent, food, water, rain gear, navigation, first aid, sleeping bag n cooking gear. There was other stuff inside bag, but I forget. Was able to carry light even with food. This pack solved my weight fears: helped me keep all under weight, not stressing back. Wore a lot; usually kept inside pack. Used water bladder. Was able to muster the entire CT in 2022. Cons: not able to reach back and grasp water bottles, pockets on belt too small and plastic zippers ceased in cold. Otherwise; really liked.

The perfect EDC/travel bag for any occasion. This bag hits a lot of check boxes for me. It's comfortable, holds a lot, and compacts down with the built in straps. It's perfect! Holds everything you need and does n't look like an ugly briefcase while doing it.

It's a great backpack, I upgraded from a smaller North Face backpack because it would n't fit my 16 inch MacBook Pro and my 13 inch iPad Pro. I wish that I bought the Router originally from the beginning because e it has great protection( lots of padding) for my devices plus a lot more stuff. Lots of room and extra pockets if necessary. Excellent Job North Face! John Murphy

I bought this backpack for my high school freshman who needed a bigger bag for school. He plays sports and apparently( as of February) has yet to bother finding his locker, so needed a big bag. He has been using it without complaint and likes that it can be adjusted to different sizes depending on how much he needs to carry around.

Bag holds a ton of stuff. Good overnight bag for 2. Zippers are well made. Material is thick enough to withstand snags or holes. Have been very happy with product since I purchased it.

Camelback was great for my hikes in Yosemite. It held plenty of water and had ample space for snacks, a towel and other necessities. Was comfortable enough to wear that I would forget I had it on. And I love having a drink handy too. 😃

I love this pack. Chest straps on last pack broke and no back support. This pack feels great on and still learning stuff on it. But tons of access for everything.

[ Superb. More than large enough for day hikes, and just big enough for ultralight overnighters, looking forward to using this pack more but the comfort and quality is typical for Osprey: excellent. Love the new tan color

Excellent pack. It's light enough that if I am hiking and it just using it for water and snacks it's perfect. But I can also pack it full of clothes and whatever I need for a trip. The main compartment is quite large, but it also has many extra pockets and zippers which are perfect for organizing.

I went from a daypack without load lifters to this little slice of heaven and can honestly say it's been night and day. My posture is better, my shoulders do n't hurt, and I can bring an impressive amount of stuff with all the storage this pack boasts. Love Love Love! And not to mention the color is beautiful and vibrant( Violac Purple)

My son picked this out to carry his lacrosse gear. This is a great backpack with plenty of room. There ’s a separate, zippered compartment on the bottom for his cleats. It also fits a pair of flip flops. The main compartment fits his shoulder pads, elbow pads, and gloves, and has some extra room for his jersey, small towel, and clean shirt. There ’s also a smaller pocket on the front that he puts his mouth guard in. Side pockets for water bottle and of course it also has straps for his stick. Very happy with this purchase!

[ Very comfortable. I usually pack it full and go hiking with my dog. No trouble using it all day. I would suggest making the base more sturdy so it can stand up by itself and the top opening slightly larger.

[ Love love love this pack. I ’ m not that experienced a hiker however I do know comfort. This pack is well - made. The frame allows it to move as you move without having deadweight on your shoulders. I got this pack the 24 L a little larger than my 22 for my Grand Canyon rim to rim hike, it doesn ’ t come up until October but with my practice hikes I find this to be very comfortable this pack. Also, the hip pockets are larger than most so you can put snacks and other important items that you need there. Easy access to use it from my room to thank you Osprey for helping me choose this one pack.
