[ I was looking for a carry- on backpack and I researched a lot of options before choosing this one. I love that the suspension is very comfortable for walking a mile plus from a bus stop or train station( I have only used it on one trip so far but had to walk a mile from the train station to my hotel and this was fine) but it also zips away( which I did when I left the bag at that hotel because it was too early to check in). This is my first day pack with internal frame. It makes it very comfortable to wear, balancing the weight down onto my hips( even unbelted and even wearing it on one shoulder) and the frame with mesh back keeps my back cooler even in 93 degree humid weather. The pockets are n't ideal. The top front pocket is very small( and if you put a heavy phone there it is unbalanced). The internal( water or laptop) pocket is deep- so anything small put in there is lost to posterity( beware). The water bottle pockets on the side fit a smaller water bottle easily but tougher with anything larger. I used it as a carry on( personal item) and no complaints from the flight attendants about how it fit under the seat in front of me, though the top did stick out a little and I found it to be a bit in the way of stretching my lets. It fit a ton of stuff- I had an umbrella and rain jacket, wallet, cosmetic size bag with electronic cables and earbuds, cosmetic bag with actual cosmetics, book, magazine, two journals, an airport shopping bag( small), and small cosmetic bag with meds in there. There is a helpful clip to attach your neck pillow! It also has a rain cover in a pouch at the bottom that was very useful in a downpour, if a little hard to extract and put in place on the fly.

Have n't used it for said trip yet, but have used it on local hikes to get a good feel for it and it checks all my boxes. It's uncomplicated( just one main compartment with some exterior storage) and I love the padded hipbelt. Also like the fact that there's compatibility for a water bladder. The side pockets stretch enough to accommodate the large nalgene, and there's a small zipper compartment at top for keys, wallet, etc.

This pack can carry loads for longer trails. I appreciate the firm hipbelts. They do not slip and allow you to adjust your pack properly. I would like to see more access to main compartment, but it is similar to thru hiking packs by design.

I love my Beta Light 30 backpack!! The top opens up nice and wide so I can see what I ’ ve packed readily. The XS size fits me like a glove and it is so roomy yet very light weight. I have t yet tested the waterproof quality, but I have little doubt that it will hold up to the elements as proclaimed by other happy customers. I absolutely love Black Diamond products! High quality and dependable.

I have n't used this pack but it looks great, with excellent materials, pockets and overall construction. It also seems to tick most boxes for ultra runners who may be doing multi- day events requiring a lot of mandatory gear. Some runners may question the design choice of having only one side of the vest strap capable of carrying a 500ml soft flask. Perhaps this is the preferred option for fastpacking but having capacity for two soft flasks in addition to two zippered pockets on either side like the BD Distance 15 pack would be ideal, at least for ultra runners.

As an ultralight Backpacker, I leave my honest review here. First, I have to say that I was excited when I got this backpack; the fabrics and the implementation are outstanding excellent job Black Diamond. The fast backpack idea with those extra shoulder straps makes this backpack ideal. Not only is this one waterproof or almost, but it is merely one of the best backpacks I ever owned. Believe it or not, I have tried several UL backpacks in my career. The only downside I see is that the shoulder pocket with the zipper is too tiny to hold a standard- sized cell phone comfortably. If I had a bigger one, I could guarantee it would never fit inside.

The Large size Betalight45 fits me very well. The shoulder straps are comfortable with a loaded pack and the hip belt sits properly to take some weight. I 'm 6' 3 '', 180lbs, my torso is 21. 5- 22 '' according to BD instructions. I measured the actual volume of the main bag to be 46L and still able to roll closed. Side/back pockets will be additional capacity.

I use to have osprey rook 65l, somehow i am able to fit more stuff in this backpack and still have room for other stuff. TOTALLY WORT IT FOR THIS MONEY.

Just hiked Mt Kilimanjaro with the Beta Light 45 pack. Super light for a long trek. The harness is amazingly comfortable and with the pockets great for cameras, GoPro's, etc... It handled the rain well, 100% of my items remaining dry. Highly recommend this versatile pack.

[ I bought this a month ago after seeing a friend with it. I 've struggled finding a work backpack that is fashionable, has the right compartments and is comfortable: THIS IS IT! Perfect amount of zippers and pouches AND TWO bottle holders on the side. The 3 way straps are KEY for easy grab and go.
