Have had a Manduka ProLite mat for…10 years! That ’s incredible, it really is. Problem is, I ’ m a sweater when I work out. I would slip and slide all over my old mat. Upon discovering rubber mats, I went to Dicks and was surprised that my local store only carried the Calia brand in general for yoga. Fortunately they had a great display of unfolded mats, and I was able to feel and see the selection. This one caught me, I LOVED the texture. Well, it works, and amazingly at that! LEAGUES above the ProLite in terms of grip. Now, I do find I still slightly slip when I ’ m overly sweating( and this will be right at the end of an hour hard workout mind you). It ’s more expensive than your average mat, but it ’s the one that has performed the best for me. It ’s tacky and holds up to heavier use( i. e. hot yogas and/or bikram). It is higher maintenance than your cheaper,$ 10 mats, but those mats also don ’ t last very long and contribute extra to the landfill. This is the best yoga mat I have ever owned! It is very grippy in my vinyasa class and I always feel secure and confident on my mat during heated classes and doing balance work. The purple mat is a beautiful color and wipes clean with a damp rag. The mat does smell a little like rubber when you first get it, but that dissipates in about a week. I ordered the Manduka Prolite( 5. 0mm), the Jade Yoga Fusion( 7. 9mm) and the Jade Yoga Harmony( 4. 7mm) mats. Spending this much on a mat I wanted to make sure I would be happy with what I ended up with. No doubt this is the best mat for me. The mat is heavier than the others but there is no slippage and the extra cushion for my knees makes it the best choice above others. For the record, I would have chosen the Jade Harmony over the Manduka Prolite if the choice was limited to one or the other of those two.

The grip is really good, extra thickness is really comfortable but I can still easily balance on 1 foot, plus the extra length is nice. I 'm 5` 10 and glad I dropped the extra$ 10, but do n't think my wife would need the extra length. I was tired of my hands slipping in down dog while using a Gaiam mat. I tried a matymat from Amazon but the material would literally stretch while you were stretching. I did a fair amount of research online which led me to this mat. It is truly the Rolls Royce of mats. I wish it would have come with a carrying strap in this price range but it is still worth the money. I would recommend to just splurge on it and never have to buy another mat again.

I have been on a quest to find the best yoga mat for hot yoga. I wanted one that I could use without needing a towel on top. I read a lot of reviews, articles, and watched YouTube videos to make my decision. I have used other Gaiam mats in the past and they have been very slippery, so when I first read about this mat I ruled it out. I ended up purchasing a Jade yoga mat. It was great and not slippery, but not for hot yoga. Unfortunately, I needed to use a towel to feel safe. After a while, I decided to buy this mat even though I was skeptical. I am SO happy I did. It is not slippery at all. It is everything I have wanted in a yoga mat! I wish I bought this one right from the beginning. I do n't think I will ever buy another yoga mat! There are only a few downsides to this mat. They do n't bother me, but I figured I 'd mention them. The shiny design is slippery, but I 'm not ever in a pose where this has been an issue. Also, the mat does smell when you first get it. Deep breaths in Child's Pose were not great on the first day, but by the second day after airing out it was already considerably better. Lastly, the Gaiam label fell off on the second day. Im not sure why it would be stuck on with just some sticky adhesive, but I really could n't have cared less. Overall, I am extremely pleased with this purchase. I was starting to loose hope in my quest to find a non- slippery mat, but I 'm so glad I found this one! Namasté.

I use this mat so far for my flow and foundational. I 'm a larger guy at 6' 3 '' about 250 and very wide at the shoulders. Normal mats do n't get it done, and I 've tried seemingly every mat on the market geared towards the larger yogi. While some have been ok, some have been good except for caveats, some have been done right dangerous! This is the first mat I can honestly say is just right for me. My very first down dog I tried to push myself off as hard as I could to see if I 'd slip. No break in m, no nothing. I did n't budge. My warriors and lunge are as deep as I need, and I feel safe and secure even sweaty. I should have started my search with Gaiam. I 'd have saved literally hundred of dollars.

My hands sweat in unheated classes so in heated classes, they are out of control to say the least. With regular mats, my hands slide all over the place and it is quite annoying but this mat is( dry) hands down THE BEST. If your hands slip during class, get this one!

After researching reviews of various products, I purchased a Gaiam premium mat a couple of years ago. Love the extra width and length. Even though it is considered a thick mat I never had any trouble balancing and really appreciated the extra support it offered. It offers a really good grip, no matter how sweaty your hands might get. Really liked the mat until it started to slightly separate. The top layer was separating from the cushion part of the mat. Researched reviews again and decided I would try a premium Manduka mat instead. So disappointed with the Manduka pro mat. It is very slick and if you tend to sweat at all during your session you will find it difficult to get a grip. I even found myself unsure of trying certain poses because I was afraid I would slip. I noticed that a few people had written about the Gaiam seperating issue and their customer service people would respond for them to get in contact with them. I decided to email them and let them know about my mat and I included a picture. They immediately responded and sent me a brand new mat! [ Used this mat for about 3 weeks now. There are ways to “ break in ” the mat. Some videos online recommend salt and sunshine for 24hrs. BUT if you use it enough it will break in just fine. After just a few weeks it not slippery.

I recommend the mat because it is high quality and very comfortable. This makes up for the cons. I sweat and it does NOT handle this well. It becomes slippery. It also makes suction noises after rising from a lying down pose. I wonder if others in the class think the noise sounds like one of our natural body functions.

I love this mat. So grippy and supportive. As someone who is fairly bony I ’ ve had a lot of issues finding a mat I like that I can spend time on my knees or other bony joints. This mat allowed me to get through an entire practice with no pain, even when placed directly on my hardwood floors. It ’s cushy yet very supportive. My only complaint is that the material attracts EVERYTHING. After my practice I can see every hair, piece of lint, dust and everywhere my dry winter skin touched the mat. But hey it ’s worth wiping off every time anyway, just never have seen what gets left behind on the mat every time.
