I was looking for a sturdy mat with better stickiness than the others I 've owned. This one cost significantly more than those and it's a good investment. I like that it's thicker too.

I have been using a good mat for yoga, though basic, it has helped me 6 months in my practice. This Manduka mat is really worth the price since it has enough cushioning, not so much that makes one lose balance but good for a head stand. Also, it has a great grip for positions when you press hard with hands and feet. It is long enough for me to fit laying down and it is n't that heavy. A very good product overall, I highly recoment it for anyone who practices yoga or even other sports.

Great mat- nice and big- great color. A bit slippery until gets broken in.

It took a while to break this in because of the film on the mat( you can clean it yourself but I didnt). Oddly enough this mat even smells good! Sturdy and with the right amount of stickiness. I got the midnight blue. Easy to wrap up! Length and width are perfect as well

I bought this to use at home and in the studio so I needed one that would last. You can feel the quality of the mat with and without a towel over it. Glad I finally upgraded!

I actually picked this up for outdoor boot camp class. Our classes are held at an elementary school playground on the blacktop. It gets really dirty, unfortunately but the cushion is superior to cheaper mats and the grip was great on day one even though the package says you need to break it in a bit. I have a tailbone that sticks out so I need good padding. It's a great mat for yoga as well, of course.

Good for a light gym mat, not for yoga ... If you want to have two mats this is a great option for the general fitness in a home

The texture of this mat is very grippy and rugged. It seems it would be good for general fitness, but not the greatest for yoga, which is half of why I bought it. If you want to have two mats this is a great option for the general fitness in a home gym.

I purchased this yoga mat at my local Dick's Sporting Goods Store. I had been wanting a really good mat after attending Hot Yoga with an' ordinary' Target- brand mat. I was slipping and sliding all over the place with my previous mat. With the Manduka PRO Mat, I was calm- cool- and stable. It was wonderful! It is a little slick at first( the protective coating has to wear off), but that will get better with time. I have become a Manduka fanatic after using this mat. FYI- it is a little heavy. I would recommend purchasing a yoga strap or yoga bag to haul this puppy around in.

The mat is 5 mm thick and very comfortable when on knees. However its not very sticky but other reviews say that it gets better with time.

it's firm yet supportive. does n't slip on hard surfaces. It is definitely worth the money. We were buying a cheaper mat and eventually it would start falling apart. This mat was a good purchase:-)

[ Awesome travel yoga mat. Like it's sister mats, this one is super sticky so you have good grip on your mat no matter what asana you choose; from Dancer, Warrior 2, or handstands, there will be no slippage on your mat! This mat folds up nicely for travel, easily fitting into a crammed suitcase then coming out as if it had never been folded. It's amazing. Bear in mind this is a travel mat therefore it is thin! May want additional padding underneath Once you reach your destination or you may desire a thin mat mat. Just know what you are ordering. It is unfair to the store and manufacturer, for you, a customer, to buy a travel mat then give it a poor rating because it's thin, when that is what a travel mats all about!!!

[ This is my second eKO SuperLite Yoga Mat. I keep one in my office for lunchtime yoga breaks, and the second goes backpacking with me. As it's lightweight, it is n't as well cushioned as my heavier Manduka mat, but it has excellent traction and folds down so packably small!

[ So far I 've only used this for one class, but it is not slippery! I go to buti yoga, which is sort of like a combination between cardio and yoga, and I sweat, although I am not a heavy sweater. It involves a lot of downward dogs, and I felt much more stable than I did on my previous mat. My hands felt grounded and did not slide. The mat did seem a bit slick when I first received it, but I read lots of reviews and followed a few suggestions: leaving it out in the sun for a few hours( it was 80 degrees), rubbing a fine grain sandpaper over it( once over, applying a bit of force), and using a heavy duty scotch- brite sponge with some cleaner( I used Mrs. Meyers) before rinsing it off and letting it dry. I maybe spent 10- 15 minutes using the sandpaper and cleaner. And it worked! I am hopeful that this is my soul mat.

[ I bought this to use as an at- home yoga mat. This is a good lightweight option for the price, with decent grip. The alignment stripe is helpful.
When searching for a high-quality yoga mat, consider factors such as thickness, material, and texture. A thicker mat can provide more cushioning, while materials like natural rubber or PVC can enhance durability and grip. Additionally, a textured surface can help prevent slipping during poses, ensuring stability and comfort. Look for mats that are easy to clean and maintain, as this can contribute to their longevity and performance.
Choosing the right thickness for a yoga mat depends on your personal comfort and the type of yoga you practice. Thicker mats provide more cushioning, which can be beneficial for those who need extra support during floor poses or have sensitive joints. Conversely, thinner mats offer better stability and connection to the ground, making them suitable for balance-focused practices. Consider your practice style and any specific needs you may have when selecting the thickness that works best for you.
Using a non-toxic yoga mat can enhance your practice by providing a safer and more environmentally friendly surface. These mats are often made from natural materials that do not contain harmful chemicals, reducing the risk of exposure to toxins during your workouts. Additionally, non-toxic mats typically offer good grip and cushioning, contributing to a more comfortable and stable experience while practicing yoga. Choosing a non-toxic option also supports sustainability, as many are designed to be biodegradable or made from recycled materials.
The grip of a yoga mat plays a crucial role in enhancing your practice by providing stability and support during various poses. A mat with good grip helps prevent slipping, allowing you to focus on your alignment and movements without the distraction of losing your footing. This is especially important in dynamic practices or when transitioning between poses. Additionally, a reliable grip can boost your confidence, enabling you to explore deeper into your practice.
Different styles of yoga mats cater to various practices and preferences. For instance, thicker mats often provide extra cushioning, making them suitable for restorative or gentle yoga styles. Conversely, mats with a firmer surface may be ideal for more dynamic practices like vinyasa or power yoga, as they offer stability and grip. Additionally, lightweight mats can be convenient for those who travel frequently or attend classes outside the home.
To determine the durability of a yoga mat, consider the materials used in its construction, as high-quality materials typically offer better longevity. Look for mats that are designed to withstand regular use without showing signs of wear, such as cracking or fading. Additionally, check for features like thickness and texture, which can impact how well the mat holds up over time. Reading user reviews can also provide insights into how well a mat performs after extended use.
When selecting a yoga mat for travel, consider its weight and portability, as a lightweight mat will be easier to carry. Look for mats that are foldable or can be rolled up compactly to fit in your luggage. Additionally, choose a mat with a durable surface that can withstand various environments, ensuring it provides adequate grip and support during your practice. Finally, consider the thickness of the mat, as a thinner option may be more suitable for travel while still offering comfort.
For beginners, it is often recommended to choose a yoga mat that offers good cushioning and stability. Mats with a thicker design can provide extra comfort and support, making it easier to maintain balance during poses. Additionally, mats made from non-toxic materials can enhance grip and durability, which is beneficial for those just starting their practice. Many beginners also prefer mats that are lightweight and portable for easy transport to classes.
Eco-friendly yoga mats are typically made from sustainable materials that are biodegradable or recyclable, reducing their environmental impact. In contrast, traditional yoga mats may be made from synthetic materials that can take a long time to decompose and may contain harmful chemicals. Eco-friendly options often provide a natural feel and grip, while traditional mats may offer different levels of cushioning and durability. Choosing between them often depends on personal values regarding sustainability and the desired performance characteristics.
