Got this to replace a 25+ year old Nike ACG baselayer that is still wearable. I bought this for it's slick and soft material, color( I love brighter colored base layers) raglan shoulder sleeves and OR's size/fit. This is actually my first OR top I 've ever purchased and I am so happy that the fit is perfect in the body/torso and sleeve length. Follow the size guide and know your own size dimensions and you ca n't go wrong. I ca n't believe how this extremely ultra light layer keeps me so warm. I hope OR continues to offer bright color options for this echo long sleeve crew base layer because the fit is perfect for me. Not too tight, but not loose and baggy. I love these. The Echo line of long/short sleeve and tanks are my absolute favorite OR product. The fit is great. I ’ m 5 ’ 5 ” and athletic. I work out to look and feel good and so often the clothes I find from retailers are made for guys 6 feet plus with a flat chest and no butt. Not so this product. These are by far my favorite synthetic hiking shirts. So lightweight and breathable, beautiful colors, perfect fit, super comfortable, dries fast and wicks sweat. The raglan sleeves mean no seams for backpack straps to rub and cause irritation. A slightly higher UPF rating would be nice, but would also make the fabric heavier, so I understand the trade- off there. The smooth texture works well when layering too.

The Freewheel Short Sleeve Jersey is more like a daily driver shirt over a traditional jersey. You can wear it daily for day to day tasks then hit the trail after work. The material is similar to other Outdoor Research shirts in the 2024 clothing catalog. I took the shirt for weekly rides on local trail heads in MD in spring and on the Santos Trails in FL on a work trip. The stretch is nice when you catch a sticker bush and length is nice if you have a long torso. The only con in my opinion is that a bring color would be nice for hunting seasons. I currently have the blue shirt and it looks good.

Really great shirt: comfortable for hot days and nights. It gets only 4 stars by comparison with last year's Shade Lite shirt. This one has slightly heavier fabric, and seemingly, a tighter weave, so it does n't breathe as well. On the other hand, the new snaps are much easier to unsnap than last year's metal ones.( I sometimes wonder if I 'll rip the snap out of the Shade Lite before it disengages!)
