[ I love hats and after losing my Columbia wide- brim hat in Zurich( I blame the chocolate) back in 2023, I was relieved to see a replacement a couple weeks ago. Imagine my surprise to unbox such a stylish chapeau! Though its wider brim made me think of Paris in the spring, it was bought for adventures in South America. Mid- August, I leave for a month- long vacation to Brazil where this hat will protect me from tropical rays as I stroll the famous beaches of Rio de Janeiro followed by 3 weeks in the Pantanal( jaguar safari!) and then an Amazon riverboat cruise. Packable, well- constructed with a must- have adjustable strap, it will literally top several quick- dry, multi- purpose, insect- shielded, Omni- Freeze Zero clothing from Columbia. In the meantime, I 've worn this hat for outdoor concerts and shopping at the Farmer's Market here at home in the Midwest. My head circumference is 21. 5 inches and the S/M is perfect. I LOVE THIS HAT! I have it in all three colors and it is my favorite hat! the brim is large enough in front to cover my face from the sun and long enough in the back to cover my neck! Just right! I wore it while geoducking and everyone loved it! I like all three colors, but I wish the Opal one had a flowered lining like the black and blue ones do! I love this hat!!! It is my favorite Sunday Afternoons and I have many others. The only negative is it runs a little small. One Size. After stetching out the elastic band by pulling on it hard repeatedly, it fits comfortably. My head measures 22 1/4 '' around. Now I love it. Good sunblock and better looking than some of the others. I bought the cream with the black band. I would buy the blue and black too but I hate the multi print on the inside of the brim. If they came in plain black on the underside like the cream, I would buy both other colors. Why the multi print? Looks old- ladyish! Please offer all colors with a plain black under side of brim!!! An addendum to my review the black hat should have either solid black trim or back and white, like black and white stripes on the band with black solid under brim for shade protection. The red multi print is aweful!!!

I have been searching for a white hat that would truly shade my face from the sun, stay on my head and that I could put my pony tail through. I wore it to play tennis and to go to the beach. I could only wear my hair down or in a very low pony with other hats( except baseball hats but they do n't fully protect me from sun damage). My kids and I love our hats for a couple of reasons. First, they are so light that we do n't feel like we are even wearing a hat that gives great sun coverage, but we are! Second, my kids are able to get great sun coverage with comfort. In the past most of the hats they wore had brims in the back too. This would cause them to have to take the hats off when they sat in their cars seats, etc. Now they keep them on and they stay on because of the flat feature in the back of these hats! Great design! I use this hat whenever I have to go outside for more than 5 minutes. The brim is extra wide and extra long in how it wraps around your head. I have a degenerative eye disease and am also quite photophobic so this hat is a godsend. Not only does it shield my face completely from the sun all the way around from ear to ear, the sides of the brim are out of the normal field of vision so it does not distract from my ability to see peripherally. I have washed this hat literally dozens of times which is why it does n't seem to have the SPF factor it once had. been getting sunburned on my head lately. So, after five years I am buying the same hat again! BTW, I bought two hats. One medium, one large. At 7 1/8 '' hat size the medium was too small. Would n't change a thing.

I love wearing this hat. I am a letter carrier and have a walking route so I use it for head/face protection. I have washed it a few times and dried it in accordance with the instructions each time. The last time I washed it and was drying it by way of the instructions but I got a little inpatient and decided to throw it in the dryer with air dry. I could not believe it but it still shrunk. So my next one will be dried by there recommendation.
