This review updates a one month prior entry. Now that I 've fished it a bit more, AWESOME rod. I 've just bought a second. Originally for panfish and trout, it's become my favorite for accurate presentations wading bulrush shorelines for bass on inland and Great Lakes. Fast action to telegraph every bit of the action, with enough spine to steer the big guys away from trouble. Paired with a Pflueger President 20 or 25 reel, the combo is light, comfortable, and tough enough to fish all day. I run 4# Sufix with an 18 '' Vanish Fluoro leader on Carolina or Neko rigs. Precise casting, and even with this light tackle, have n't felt undergunned on big Largemouths or Smallmouths. It's just a blast to take 'em on with this rod.

Bought this 7' one piece medium action/fast rod as an upgrade for panfish and trout. In the last 3 weeks, I 've taken 11 nice 2 plus lb bass along with plenty of large panfish. Very sensitive for finesse presentations, and the fast action means fun battles with plenty of spine when needed to keep the big guys from brush piles. I 've paired with a Pflueger President size 20 reel and Berkley Sufix or Trilene XT 4 lb line with a 6# Flourocarbon leader. Casting is wonderful, controlled, predictable and accurate with the lighter line and rigs near the 1/8 minimum for this rod. Only takeaway is the reel mount, which places your fingers on the base of the spinning reel with no cork or EVA under. Gets a bit uncomfortable after a few hours compared to my Berkley or Fenwick predecessors, and just would be unbearable for cold temperature Spring or late Fall fishing.

Bought this rod about 2 months ago and have been pretty happy with it since then. Managed to catch quite a few fish on it including a 30 '' pike and some massive hybrid bass. It says it is a fast tip but it certainly is n't as fast as others I have used. Great for treble hook baits as well as texas rig stuff. The only bad part about the rod is that somehow, one of my guide inserts seems to have fallen out and I did n't keep my receipt!

[ I ’ d say I ’ m a fairly advanced angler with several g. Loomis setups and higher end reels. But the st. Croix triumph is amazing for the price point it stays o my roof all season for when I happen across a body of water during my commute.

I ’ ve owned this rod for about a year now and can whole heartedly sing it praises. I ’ m a AVID kayak pan fisherman. I ’ ve had this rod back in the skinny water catching bluegill, to white bass in rivers all the way to brackish gulf water catching flounder to test its metal. It passed all with flying colors. Section held together very well, eyelets are ceramic and kept the 10lb braid in good shape. Plenty of backbone for finessing bigger fish, just use a quality reel with good drag. My only suggestion for St Croix….. add an extra piece and make it 8 ’. This would be a perfect travel fresh water rod.

I used this for a week long fishing trip and it exceeded expectations. It was durable and versatile in use from walleye, northern, bass and even lake trout fishing with a slab! It was strong yet sensitive enough where I could feel the difference between bottom and bite and even when my spinners were spinning. Handle was also a perfect fit and size. It was hard finding a 7ft heavy pole spinning in a brand you trust. ALSO their packaging and shipping was too notch. As an avid angler ordering poles online can be a NIGHTMARE but I was soo excited to see that they shipped it appropriately.
