[ I love hats and after losing my Columbia wide- brim hat in Zurich( I blame the chocolate) back in 2023, I was relieved to see a replacement a couple weeks ago. Imagine my surprise to unbox such a stylish chapeau! Though its wider brim made me think of Paris in the spring, it was bought for adventures in South America. Mid- August, I leave for a month- long vacation to Brazil where this hat will protect me from tropical rays as I stroll the famous beaches of Rio de Janeiro followed by 3 weeks in the Pantanal( jaguar safari!) and then an Amazon riverboat cruise. Packable, well- constructed with a must- have adjustable strap, it will literally top several quick- dry, multi- purpose, insect- shielded, Omni- Freeze Zero clothing from Columbia. I have washed this hat literally dozens of times which is why it does n't seem to have the SPF factor it once had. been getting sunburned on my head lately. I love wearing this hat. I am a letter carrier and have a walking route so I use it for head/face protection. I have washed it a few times and dried it in accordance with the instructions each time. The last time I washed it and was drying it by way of the instructions but I got a little inpatient and decided to throw it in the dryer with air dry. I could not believe it but it still shrunk. [ I go to the YMCA pool and met a nice couple that each had OR hats. I inquired about their hats. I liked what I heard so I purchased one for me and my husband. I love this hat I because it fits well, protects me from the sun and it is waterproof. I wear it when doing water exercise and when riding bike. I also purchased the Sombriolet sun hat which has a wider brim, vents and a chord to tighten to my head. I use both and I am very pleased because of the functionality and quality. PS I still use my baseball cap and visors.

I read conflicting reviews on how waterproof it is. I plan to use for long hime in Portugal later this month. If I encounter torrential downpours, I will also have a waterproof hood to wear over top. I think the color I purchased is fine for what I need.
