I go on birdwatching trips, and on a bird- watching Safari, we were advised to be sure the hat we wore would n't obstruct the view of others in the vehicle, so I chose this hat. It was perfect for the trip, and it turned out to provide outstanding protection from the sun in general. As a bonus, it was a bug deterrent! I 've worn the hat so often that it is starting to wear out, so I 've just ordered another one.

I have three of these hats. I keep one in the car and one in my backpack so I always have it on hand. I am a redhead and these do the best job of protecting my neck, scalp, and face of any hat I have owned. I also love the folding brim so it can go in a pocket. It stays on well in windy conditions if you snap it under your chin. I wish it came in more colors. Fun ones. I would love orange or teal or fuchsia.

I have a large head and typically will wear a baseball cap on the beach because hair needs to be back, this hat is amazing!! I wore it first on a windy day and just had to tighten the back and the chin strap and the hat stayed on my head. I love that it covers my ears and the back of my head and neck.
