I always wear my hair in a ponytail or a messy bun and this hat has a big enough space in the back for either, while also being a little higher than where the hole would typically be on a hat for your ponytail to go through. The material is breathable and could look sporty or cute with just a regular outfit bc there aren ’ t any big logos on the hat. Some of my adidas or Nike hats look too sporty for an every day outfit or casual dress, but not this one. [ I bought this to work outside on hot days, and it works well for that. I have n't tried it on a super hot day yet, but suspect it could use a bit more breathability for those conditions. It provides full coverage from the sun and still gives you pretty good vision. I did n't buy it for looks, but I think it looks cool in kind of a dorky way. The sizing is a bit big, I 'm a 7 1/2 hat size and got a large, and have to cinch the strap down pretty much to get it to fit tight, which wrinkles it up a bit, but I tried a medium and it just was n't quite big enough. It is nice to have the adjustability, which you do with an easy pull strap. The colors are great and the price is fair.

I have worn a gambler straw hat when playing golf for more years than I can remember. They are comfortable, cool and good sun protection. Emphasis on the sun protection. I have no real skin problems compared to my golf friends who wear caps. That was n't the reason I originally wore the hat but it is now. Tip you can dunk the hat in a sink to clean it and then wear on a hot day.
