It was extremely hot and humid( sweat rolling down the legs and into my shoes), but the socks prevented hotspots and blisters. I have a little extra length in the arms, which I love because it is a rarity. I feel like I have just enough room that I could wear a crewneck underneath without problem, but it's not bulky without layers. And it's long enough that it covers my bottom! I 'm usually between a medium and a large and I would not size down for a medium in this jacket.
