I liked the leather uppers and stainless steel blades which were well sharpened out of the box. Stainless steel is harder than other steels and does not rust. The fit was great, but order a size smaller than your normal size. They are easy to skate on and well balanced, tho I am a beginner skater, I do love these skates. Good job Lake Placid.

I 'm a beginner skater and invested in some skates since I live near a rink now and can go skate at least three or four times a week. I tried out various skates( including the less expensive Lake Placid Cascade skates) before I settled on the Alpines. These skates were far superior to any of the others. They are sooooo comfortable- even after skating for a couple hours. The memory foam lining of the boot also feels like it's molding to my foot. Great ankle support and the leather boot was worth the extra money( the Cascade skates are plastic/pleather). I highly recommend these if you 're looking for a good, affordable pair of skates. A note about sizing: I wear a 9. 5 and the size 8 fit great.

These are actually the Alpine 900's. They are comfortably wide, plenty of toe room. I normally wear a women's size 9. I ordered a 9 for me and a 7 for my daughter. The 9's were about an inch too long. I decided to try my daughter's on and they fit well with room for comfort. The original skate was too small I got online with Dick's Chat line and within a few minutes a return was processed and a replacement skate was ordered in the correct size. I received the replacement skate in 3 days and the return slip was emailed to me the same day. Dick's went ahead and shipped the skate without me having to purchase the same pair and before they received the incorrect pair back in stock. I found the skates to be true to size. I wear a 8 and bought a 8- perfect fit. Nice support in the foot and ankle and once I got them sharpened I was gliding on ice and everyone was checking out my cool skates!

I ’ m no professional. Just a mama who likes to take her kids skating. I got these today, they are so comfy compared to the rentals and I love the cheetah print! I high recommend. I usually wear a 7. 5- 8 and I ordered them 8 in these and they fit great. I ’ m not sure why so many other reviews were so off on sizing, I was worried to purchase but I am so happy I did! I definitely recommend these skates! Great price and comfy!

I wear a shoe size 9 and these skates fit fine in a size 10 while wearing a somewhat thick sock( winter sock that I wear with casual boots). A size 9 might have fit but definitely not a size 8. I like the Velcro strap for pulling extra tight and keeping the long laces tucked out of the way. They seem like good quality skates- I 'm only skating on my backyard rink so they 're not going to get a lot of hard use.

I 'm normally between a 9. 5 and a 10 in shoe size. I got the 10 and they 're far too big, I imagine the 9 would have fit perfectly. Since I never did more than try them on I ca n't speak to their comfort during use, but they were comfortable to have on and stand in.

The blades are reasonably sharp and I protect them with skate guards. `` Product is new so we ca n't rate quality over the life of the skates( she's a size 5 and will outgrow them within a year) thus unless quality is severely lacking will of course never know as we typically give them to a smaller skater( she's already outgrown 5 pair).
