The poly insulation is just thick enough without being bulky, and plenty warm. I run hot, so this is great for me. I live in a wet climate, so water resistance is important. When I received this, the first test was to run water over my sleeve in the sink. The water ran right off. Recently had a scrap with a rose branch and the tough shoulder material was unaffected. [ This is a great hunting jacket. I wanted an tough outside lawyer to withstand the thicket, block wind and rain, and allow me to wear layers. This is perfect for that purpose. Also, I 've read a few reviews about how some do not like how the zipper goes up too high, but that really is n't a problem. In fact, I 'm heavy wind or extremely cold weather, I see it as a plus because you can close up more, but if it is uncomfortable just do n't zip all the way way up( common sense).

[ I purchased the prior version of this jacket in Real Tree Hardwoods in 2016 and used it to harvest my first turkey. That jacket lasted 7 hunting seasons( spring and fall) and is still usable but the camo is fading so I bought this jacket as a replacement. I used it the first time for deer this fall. This jacket appears just as durable as my 2016 jacket, but appears to also have water resistance features as an added bonus. With a wool base layer and long sleeve T underneath, the jacket should be ok for a long sit down to 45 degrees. For colder weather, just add a down vest. This is probably a roomy medium. I 'm a true medium( 5'10 '', 160lbs) and the medium in this jacket gives you room to layer, but it's not so big as to let wind come up the waist elastic. I own quite a bit of hunting clothes from some big name competitors, but Carhartt has always been my favorite go- to. My only suggestion for improvement is for Carhartt to expand the line. Make Yukon Extremes in hunting pattern! Expand the types of camo patterns. Build it and they will come.

This jacket is an addition to the three other various Carhartts that I have hanging in my coat closet. I was needing something on the lighter side this time for doing some e- bike trail riding around metro Detroit and also something to match the camo paint scheme on my fat tire. This jacket's Moss color turned out being about as close to U. S. Army `` mean green '' as you could hope to get and I also really like the high zip neck and velcro adjustable sleeves. The fit was perfect too, as always. Since I have the sincere `` need for speed '', I was also duly impressed with how warm it was against the Spring windchill temps. I paired this jacket up also with some Carhartt fingerless gloves which is another story but the combo has worked out exceedingly well for riding. It works well as a spring or summer shell and the waxed fabric does an excellent job at keeping the wind and rain out even though it's not rated as waterproof. In the fall and early phases of winter I 'll wear a down mid layer to insulate my body heat and throw this guy over to protect from the elements. [ I was looking for a breathable jacket to use in windy Ohio spring and fall weather when it is too warm for a thick cotton hoodie. The Sten jacket is exactly what I wanted. It weighs the same as my old flimsy nylon windbreaker but feels much more durable. The pockets and details are well thought out, and the two way zipper and bottom hem snap allow for as much ventilation as needed. It is NOT waterproof, but the fabric dries quickly and can be treated with Greenland wax to make it more water repellent.

This is a serious raincoat. The material is thick and sturdy, I like the brim on the hood and the heavy duty zippers. I like all the pockets( inside and out), the double cuffs( it has elastic cuffs inside the coat's outer cuffs- which I thought was a great idea), and the funnel neck collar. I 've spent more than this on a rain coat from a high- end outdoor company for a trip to the Pacific Northwest and it was a total fail. I have every confidence that had I had this raincoat for that trip, I would have had no problems. I 've been reading a lot of newer Carhartt reviews that complain that Carhartt is moving more towards fashionable clothes rather than durable clothes that perform- I 'm happy to report that this is NOT one of those pieces. It's a great quality coat that I am confident will last me for several years and keep me dry in the mightiest downpour. As to sizing: I typically wear a medium in Carhartt's women's tops and a medium or large in general clothing, depending on the cut. I wandered into the men's section for this one because I liked the color selection better on this side of the room( the olive/moss green color is really nice.) So, to any of the ladies out there who may be reading this: this is a men's coat- it IS boxy coat. I 'm keeping the medium because I 'm leaving for a trip in three days and I need a raincoat, but if I had the luxury of time, I would probably exchange it for a men's small. It's not egregiously large, maybe just 50% larger than I would normally wear. As it is, there's plenty of room for layers underneath and the arms are quite large, and has ample room in the shoulder. But it's a men's coat. So... that's to be expected. I think it will last me for years and years. I 'm very happy with it!

Fit: I am 5'11 and 190 pounds, wear XL for shirts and sweaters, but L for these types of jackets and the L fit me well in this one. Warmth: I have used it in up to- 10C and it has kept me warm at that temp with only a t- shirt below. Might be too warm for anything above 0C- 5C for me. If it can keep me warm up to- 20C with a thin layer underneath it will have good range. Style: looks very good. Amber is a bit darker than I expected, which is welcomed in my case. Does not look orange at all. Weight/design: it is very lightweight, and does not look puffy. Would have appreciated one or two pockets on the inside. Easy to move around in, so will be good for winter activities. Overall, highly recommend this if you are looking for a jacket to put between the times you need a full winter parka and your spring jacket, this will hold a good place in that spot as it does seem to be quite versatile temp wise.
