I love the fit and feel. Very lightweight, which I wanted, as a summer weight jacket. The stretch improves the fit and feel over my other bomber. The only things I would change is; Add the original bomber style shoulder pockets and tool sleeves, maybe even on both sides. A velcro shoulder patches with a cover that matches the jacket fabric to hide the velcro if preferred. Stretch cordura or something cut resistant to protect in the shop against sheet metal edges or on the street for self defence. Hand pocket designed more like the original without the flap. Had the original of this. Would not have gotten anything else but this again. I was disappointed with the lack of product pictures to show the inside of the jacket. Where are the pictures of the inside pockets and lining, You need to get that right for this product! I was also disappointed with the zipper in the inside pocket. I 'm also annoyed at the sleeve length. This jacket need about half an inch to an inch added to the sleeves on the regular fit. Nevertheless, while different and lighter than the previous version. This jacket still dominates any other hoodie I own... in fact it dominates any other hoodie I 've come across. The original I owned was in the Chocolate color( IYKYK) had that one for about 10- 15 years. I was looking to get that again, but I 'm happy with the black. I 'd wear it all the time if I could, but it would n't improve my social awkwardness. Buy with confidence, knowing that this jacket will serve you very well! This jacket is more than I could have hoped for. I operate a snowplow at a ski resort at night during storms clearing parking lots. When I get out of the tractor into what is frequently a howling blizzard, this keeps me warm, sealed and protected. It's loose enough that I can wear layers underneath if it's really cold and the whole thing is lined with nylon so there is no binding at all. The hood and zipper come up to just the right place on my chin to be functional without hindering. And when it's wet snow or rain, it runs right off and I stay dry. Amazingly comfortable. I ’ ve been using this jacket for the past 8 months and it ’s been extremely reliable in a variety of different conditions. Walking in sub zero temps, I found I was constantly undoing or taking off layers when using an insulated jacket, becoming sweaty and uncomfortable, but winter walking in the Skogsko I found it to be breathable and pleasant keeping me at a constant temperature. Once you stop, throwing on an insulated layer or hard shell will take care of the cooling down issue. Because of the fit( medium) and it ’s stylish cut, you get only compliments when out and about, but the quality if it ’s manufacture and rock solid construction means it ’s practically bulletproof and can be used in all sorts of work/outdoor scenarios. I ’ ve been using it more and more on the farm and for forestry work, as you can brush up and rub against tough bark or metal fencing or briars without so much as a scratch on the material, especially if it ’s been waxed a couple of times, and once it ’s waxed it becomes very tough and durable with a patina ’ d look which adds to its appeal. Worn under my Hoggs waterproof, this jacket becomes a completely wind proof, waterproof system- it can be blowing 60 mph and you just will not feel a thing- absolutely no warmth escaping from anywhere. I must mention that the construction, build, stitching and overall quality seems to be superior to the insulated version of this jacket, so I ’ d recommend buying a size larger and layering accordingly for winter, as this jacket just gets better with age. This jacket is an addition to the three other various Carhartts that I have hanging in my coat closet. I was needing something on the lighter side this time for doing some e- bike trail riding around metro Detroit and also something to match the camo paint scheme on my fat tire. This jacket's Moss color turned out being about as close to U. S. Army `` mean green '' as you could hope to get and I also really like the high zip neck and velcro adjustable sleeves. The fit was perfect too, as always. Since I have the sincere `` need for speed '', I was also duly impressed with how warm it was against the Spring windchill temps. I paired this jacket up also with some Carhartt fingerless gloves which is another story but the combo has worked out exceedingly well for riding. After all the accolades though, what stands out the most about this brand to me is that it was born in the City of Detroit for the tough, honest, hardworking man and wearing it, to quote Doc Holiday, kind of reminds me of me.

Very light weight. Packing compressed it a lot and it took a couple days for it to expand out. My first time wearing it was in 30 degrees and it kept me very warm. I am 5' 6 '' and a large was a good fit for me, especially for arm length. I am a little concerned about longevity because of how light weight it is, but time will tell on that. Material and stitching are top notch and the jacket is very comfortable to wear. I HATE the feeling of gortex and this has more of silky feel inside and out, which is perfect. For a general use winter jacket this is perfect.

I bought is jacket to replace my old Gore- Tex Foray that started to delaminate after 7 years of use. Lets see how well this AscentShell Dry hold up over the years. So far this is a great 3- in- 1 jacket but I 'm really disappointed that it lacks the TorsoFlo Venting all the other Foray versions have. TorsoFlo Venting, or at least some basic armpit vents, really makes a difference when you need to vent some heat build up or want to use the shell as a rain jacket year round. I like that it comes as a 3- in- 1. This is easier to put on and take off than the Foray and Shadow combo this jacket is replacing. Being able to combine the shell and insulation layer when it gets cold is much more convenient than dealing with 2 separate jackets. I like that it is longer than the other Foray versions The longer Parka style provides better rain and snow protection than the shorter Jacket style. The over all look and color make this great to wear in any setting like work, camping, shopping, or anywhere else. I really like the Ranger Green color over the Hops Green of my Foray that this is replacing. I hope they make a version 2 with TorsoFlo Venting and a stuff sack for the insulation layer.

I 've owned a lot of jackets over the years. Helly Hansen, Eddie Bauer, Spyder, Khul, Mammut, etc. This is by far the warmest jacket I 've ever owned. Even at 30- 35 degrees( F) I sometimes find myself unzipping it as it is too much insulation. I 've worn it out to about 5 degrees with only a light sweater under it and was not even slightly cold. There are more technical jackets out there if you 're looking for backcountry skiing stuff but if you 're just looking for something to keep you warm around town, winter hiking, or sledding with your kids, you ca n't beat this. The jacket is a little big but I think that was my doing. I didn ’ t measure but usually get an xl as I like my clothes room to move in. I went with the xl. I ’ m 6 ’ 2 and 200lbs. Very warm as well. My old jacket is have to undo the thumb hooks every time I went to bind my boots in. This jacket I ’ ll have no problem.

I received this jacket in black for Christmas as a gift. It is super warm and windproof with cozy lined pockets and I like the chest pocket for my phone. The fit is comfy, not bulky, and it does not ride up on my long torso, making it a superb layer under waders. It is extremely light and compressible in its own pocket. This thing will keep you nice and toasty on blustery days, without the extra fluff.

Amazing. Such a great jacket; it ’s lightweight, breathable, good for active use, feels extremely well made, and has a great fit. At 6 ’ 1, 165lbs, the medium felt tailored. The octa lining is done fantastically. Pertex and octa are both some of the best durable, lightweight, and breathable materials and pair amazingly well. Construction is some of the best I ’ ve seen; very heavy duty dual use zipper that works like butter is amazing to see on such a lightweight garment. Dual chest pockets also clutch and super practical if wearing harnesses. Hand pockets have sync and keychain holders, and feel great to use in a more casual environment. Octa is like super synthetic cashmere, extremely well insulating. This jacket I think can work in any environment from below freezing to upper 60 ’s with proper layering. Simply one of the best jackets of all time imo.

[ I bought this for my Dad for Christmas and he really likes it! It ’s his first down coat and he couldn ’ t believe how much warmer he was out in the cold. The black isn ’ t too shiny and the length is perfect. The fit is a bit slimmer near the hips( he ’s about 5 ’ 9 ” and 150lbs), so a tad more shape would be good. I have used the Ghost Whisper Jacket for about 2 years underneath a different coat which is The North Face Summit 3 The coat fits me a little snug with a shirt over a T shirt but it works fine with just a t shirt which has held up with 2 years of use

Bought to use layering when backpacking or hiking. Great warmth to weight ratio. Packs down very well. So far have only used it walking the dog on mornings in the high 20s. Worked well for that and so I expect it will perform just as I want it to when backpacking.
