Exactly what I was looking for in a mid layer jacket. It's lightweight, warm, and I love the warm apricot color. Took this to Olympic and it was perfect for those chillier mornings and evenings while backpacking this summer.

I love this Solomon coat! Has the right amount of warmth to it. Great color and style! It does run on the small side. I usually wear a medium, but had to order a size large in order to put layers underneath it.

I 'm 5'2 100lbs and usually wear an XS and this jacket fits me well with extra room for layering. I love the Turtle Dove color as it is a creamy/vanilla shade that pairs well with any snow pant color. Amazing features- snow skirt, thumb cut outs, water proof and wind proof, zippers up to my chin, well insulated, and, multiple pockets. This jacket is one of the best quality ski jackets on the market now. I would say it's comparable to Helly Hansen's Alphelia jacket in terms of fit and features but for a lower price point. It even has a similar fit to the Arc'teryx jackets if you cinch the waistline in and tuck it. You can get away with wearing no layers underneath this jacket in 30F weather. I 've already gotten many compliments and will be wearing this to back to back ski trips in Vermont and Colorado! I agree with other reviews that a snow helmet can not fit underneath the hood, but that is NOT a con for me as wearing a hood while skiing usually obstructs my view anyway.

This jacket is so comfortable and warm. I bought it for skiing and I love it. The material is soft. I like how it zips up high to keep my neck warm while still leaving room to wear a neck gaiter. I also love the inside sleeves that fit over my thumbs. They fit great under my mittens and provided extra warmth. I found my usual size a bit small, but the next size up fit perfectly. I ’ m not sure if it ’s completely waterproof, but it ’s at least water resistant. If you want a warm, nice looking, comfortable ski jacket, I would highly recommend it!

This is my go to layer for hiking and for kayak camping trips, and general traveling when you need a warm but not ultrawarm lightweight layer. I have used it under an ultralight down jacket kayak camping in Arizona in the winter and have been quite comfortable. I have used it for hiking in the high country in the shoulder seasons when it is cold to cool in the AM. It is amazing how warm it keeps you when active. It is not a heavy warm layer if sitting out in the cold but it is perfect for my uses! I need to buy another one!!

5 over 40 outdoorsey
This is a beautiful and well designed layer, but I can not handle the chest zip pocket.( other athletic brands have been putting these on everything this year too). Love the side zip pockets for hands or items one needs to carry, the fabric is stretchy and really nice. Great length, it can stretch to cover you bum or sit higher and still look great. well designed as usually Salomon! I have no doubt it would perform fantastically. I still gave it 5 stars, even though I returned it, I must be alone in hating the chest pockets.

Frequently Asked Questions For Salomon Ski Jacket

When selecting a ski jacket, consider features such as waterproofing and breathability to keep you dry and comfortable on the slopes. Insulation is also important, as it helps maintain warmth in cold conditions. Look for adjustable hoods and cuffs for a customizable fit, as well as pockets for storing essentials like ski passes and goggles. Additionally, ventilation zippers can enhance airflow during intense activity.

To choose the right size for a ski jacket, start by measuring your chest, waist, and hips to find your body measurements. Consult the sizing chart provided by the manufacturer, as sizes can vary between brands. Consider the type of layering you plan to wear underneath the jacket; if you intend to wear thicker layers, you may want to size up for comfort. Additionally, check for features like adjustable cuffs and hems, which can help achieve a better fit.

Ski jackets are typically made from a combination of synthetic materials designed to provide warmth and waterproofing. Commonly used materials include polyester and nylon, which are lightweight and durable, often treated with water-repellent coatings. Insulation materials such as down or synthetic fibers are frequently incorporated to enhance warmth without adding bulk. Additionally, many ski jackets feature breathable membranes to help regulate temperature and moisture during physical activity.

Yes, there are ski jackets designed to accommodate various weather conditions. Some jackets are tailored for cold, snowy environments, featuring insulation and waterproof materials to keep you warm and dry. Others may focus on breathability and lightweight construction for milder conditions or active use, allowing for better moisture management. It's important to consider the specific climate and your activity level when selecting a ski jacket.

Insulated ski jackets are designed with materials that provide warmth, making them suitable for colder conditions. They typically feature synthetic or down insulation to trap heat while allowing moisture to escape. Non-insulated ski jackets, on the other hand, are lighter and often rely on layering for warmth, making them ideal for milder weather or for those who prefer to customize their insulation levels. Choosing between the two depends on the climate and personal comfort preferences during skiing activities.

Ski jackets vary in breathability and comfort based on the materials used and the design features incorporated. Many jackets are made with specialized fabrics that allow moisture to escape while keeping wind and snow out, enhancing overall comfort during physical activity. Additionally, features like ventilation zippers and adjustable cuffs can improve airflow and fit, contributing to a more comfortable experience on the slopes. The level of insulation also plays a role, as it affects warmth without compromising breathability.

Ski jackets come in various styles tailored to different types of skiing activities. For alpine skiing, you may find jackets designed for warmth and waterproofing, often featuring insulation and a snug fit. Freestyle skiing jackets typically offer a more relaxed fit with added flexibility and breathability, allowing for ease of movement. For backcountry skiing, lightweight and packable options are available, focusing on moisture-wicking materials and ventilation to accommodate varying weather conditions.

The fit of a ski jacket is crucial for performance on the slopes as it affects both mobility and comfort. A well-fitted jacket allows for a full range of motion, which is essential for skiing techniques and maneuvers. Additionally, a proper fit helps to retain warmth and manage moisture, ensuring that you stay dry and comfortable throughout your time on the mountain. Many skiers prefer jackets that offer a balance between a snug fit and enough room for layering underneath.

A ski jacket with a hood offers added protection against the elements, such as wind, snow, and cold temperatures. The hood can help keep your head warm and dry, enhancing overall comfort while skiing or snowboarding. Additionally, many hoods are adjustable, allowing for a customizable fit that can accommodate helmets or be tightened to shield against harsh weather conditions. This feature can also provide extra visibility and warmth when needed.

Yes, ski jackets can be used for a variety of outdoor activities beyond skiing. Their design typically includes features such as waterproof materials, insulation, and breathability, making them suitable for snowboarding, hiking, or even casual winter wear. Many people also appreciate the stylish look of ski jackets for everyday use in cold weather. Overall, their functionality and comfort make them versatile for various winter activities.
