Excellent for winter to cut the wind and retain heat. Had multiple deer come within 30 yds and jacket noise did not alert them. Used as a top layer with layering( and heated vest, socks, and gloves all on lowest setting) during a 12( F) degree morning, never got cold and didn ’ t feel the wind. It does not have pockets, which helps with retaining heat and one less thing to leak down the road, but I use a small pack to carry in. I do suggest breaking it in a bit. It's super light and comfortable- does n't restrict your movement at all, very customizable( you can let it hang loosely on the hips or tighten it to create shape) and looks great! I tend to bring a jacket with me where ever I go so I love that it is packable. Other packable jackets I 've tried can feel cheap or flimsy, but what I like most about this jacket is that there is no compromise quality of the material- it still feels great when I wear it. Thoughtful touches with the zipper design to keep rain out, the bungie cords at the waist for a more secure fit, and vented back to help with breathability really bring functionality to this piece. If there was one thing I would change about this jacket is the cut; the length is a little too cropped and the sleeves a bit baggy for me personally, but I know that's the style and it can work great for others.

[ This jacket is amazing! I 've been looking for a rain coat that's light weight and comfortable, but that would n't stick to my skin when it rained. I think I finally found that! It has a hood and a cinch cord around the waist to really keep rain out. The vent flap in the back is the only weird thing about it. Because it is just tacked around the edges, it sometimes falls open and you can see glimpses of the shirt underneath. I do n't think that's a huge issue because it does n't effect the usefulness of this jacket and it does n't fall open enough for me to care about. The sleeves are long enough for me, which I love! That's something I typically have issues with since my arms are so long. I ca n't wait for the next time it rains!

I love the fit and feel. Very lightweight, which I wanted, as a summer weight jacket. The stretch improves the fit and feel over my other bomber. The only things I would change is; Add the original bomber style shoulder pockets and tool sleeves, maybe even on both sides. A velcro shoulder patches with a cover that matches the jacket fabric to hide the velcro if preferred. Stretch cordura or something cut resistant to protect in the shop against sheet metal edges or on the street for self defence. Hand pocket designed more like the original without the flap. This jacket is more than I could have hoped for. I operate a snowplow at a ski resort at night during storms clearing parking lots. When I get out of the tractor into what is frequently a howling blizzard, this keeps me warm, sealed and protected. It's loose enough that I can wear layers underneath if it's really cold and the whole thing is lined with nylon so there is no binding at all. The hood and zipper come up to just the right place on my chin to be functional without hindering. And when it's wet snow or rain, it runs right off and I stay dry. Amazingly comfortable. This is a wonderful coat. I am very proud to wear it. It has a very smart engineered design.

In typical Carhartt fashion it looks and feels strategically overbuilt. I bought it to use on multiday raft trips. I need something that will do its job. This is exactly what I was looking for. I like the loose fit. We can get snow into June here in Montana and I can layer with this jacket and still move. Good job!

I bought two, one for myself 70 ''( 175 lb.) and another for my son who about 75 ''( 225 lb). They were L and XL. they have been great in some windy, cold( mid 30's) with light precipitation. I prefer loose clothing and he is happy with the fit for himself. He is in out of the weather in his job and say the fit and performance has been great. Zip it up and tighten the waist band and you are definitely dry and warmer. I am happy that I bought them. The zipper pockets mean you do n't lose little items.
