My son is on snow, 4+ days a week. He ’s blown through a number of other gloves that are more expensive than the spark. I wear other Black Diamond mittens that have always been durable, warm, and comfortable. I ’ m anticipating that these will last longer than other more expensive gloves that my son has worn. Black Diamond makes great product.

I ’ ve only bought this pair because my 5 year old pair was stolen. Through probably 40+ patrol days a year and countless ski and touring days these are consistently the best moderate cold gloves I ’ ve ever had. The leather is durable and the insulation is perfect. It ’s an excellent glove. Only con: BD gloves tend to fit a bit big for the size and it isn ’ t consistent across all gloves. Best to try before you order

I use these gloves for projects where i need the dexterity of fingers. Like the spark mitts, these had a tight wrist area to keep the snow and cold out and warm and roomy finger area. Also like the leash strap on each glove so they hang off your wrist when you take them off.( No more losing them in the snow)

White Mountains 21°F with 5- 10mph winds these gloves worked well as long as you keep active. My fingers were cool but not freezing cold( without liner gloves). My hands did not sweat like in normal gloves. People expecting toasty warm fingers might want to pair these gloves with a thin liner glove. These gloves are thicker than a liner glove but thin and light enough to fit in your jacket pocket. Sizing is perfect. In most gloves a Med is tight but fits perfectly and a Large leaves extra room in the finger tips. These gloves in Med fit almost perfect and leave room for a light weight liner glove.

I could n't decide between the snow gloves and the premium gloves and just decided to try the cheaper ones first to see if they heated up enough for a Wisconsin winter. Yuppers, they do. She knows how to plug in her cell phone and that is all she has to do is plug them in to recharge. They are lightweight and have cell phone fingers. I am very happy with the gift I am giving my elderly mother.

I love these gloves. I am a ski patroller and need a warm and functional glove. The mission gloves provide the dexterity I need to manage a taboggan, ropes, and tools. I love the leather palms for gripping ropes and the Velcro wrist straps which keep the snow out and secure the glove easily under the cuff of my jacket. These gloves replaced a pair of BD gloves I used for nearly 6 years.

She has been snow boarding for 5+ years and said these are the best gloves/mittens that she has ever had... said they do n't even get wet and her hands have never been warmer and drier. We treat them with leather conditioner after every trip and so far an A++++

I love these gloves, they are so warm! I use them on their own hiking while splitboarding and as a liner for really cold days in the resort. The Small size fit my small hands very well... I have borderline kid size hands and they still fit me pretty well. I was able to use my phone with the gloves on my hands. Highly recommended if you want warm hands!

I was expecting those gloves to be good, but they absolutely exceeded my expectations. The first time I wore them, I was outside for six hours in steady rain and near- freezing temperatures. My hands were the driest part of me. Not that these are waterproof- they aren't- but the grid fleece on the backs of the hands wicks and breathes so well that my body heat dried the gloves faster than they could get wet. My hands stayed warm and dry, and the fingers were still dextrous enough that I could work outside. Love these and will be buying more, plus anything else made of Vigor Plus fleece that I can get my hands on. Big improvement in fit over the previous year's model as well.

Took these on trail and they kept my fingers warm in a cold rain. I like the fit, the feel, but glad it did not rain the next day because they did not dry fast at all. Did not expect waterproof of course, but was hoping they would be useful again without a dryer. Taking something else for days long hiking next time, but these are still nice, keeping for different scenarios, hikes closer to home.

I have used these for several storms while shoveling and snowblowing snow. They have a great shell that is definitely waterproof therefore keeping my fingers dry and warm. They are quite pricey but needed for this part of the country.

Keeps the hands perfectly warm... would definitely recommend. The only part that i think is unnecessary is the thin elastic at the end of the gloves which apparently is there to tighten the end. Does n't function much.

Seems a lot of gloves are very expensive these days. These gloves were on sale and not anywhere near the top of the price scale. But I have found them to be very comfortable and effective when out using my snowblower, where my hands typically get cold.
When selecting winter ski gloves, consider features such as insulation for warmth, waterproof materials to keep your hands dry, and breathability to prevent moisture buildup. Look for adjustable cuffs to ensure a snug fit and prevent snow from entering. Additionally, grip-enhancing palms can improve your hold on ski poles, while touchscreen compatibility allows for easy use of devices without removing the gloves.
To choose the right size for winter ski gloves, start by measuring the circumference of your hand just below the knuckles, excluding the thumb. Compare this measurement to the sizing chart provided by the manufacturer, as sizes can vary between brands. Additionally, consider the length of your fingers, as some styles may fit differently based on finger length. It's important to ensure a snug fit that allows for dexterity while still providing enough room for insulation and comfort.
Winter ski gloves often utilize a variety of materials for insulation to provide warmth and comfort in cold conditions. Common insulation materials include synthetic fibers, such as polyester, which offer good thermal efficiency and moisture-wicking properties. Additionally, some gloves may feature down or down-alternative materials for enhanced warmth without adding significant bulk. These materials work together to keep hands warm while allowing for flexibility and dexterity during skiing activities.
Yes, there are specific styles of winter ski gloves designed for various types of skiing. For instance, mittens often provide extra warmth and are suitable for casual skiing or snowboarding, while gloves with individual fingers offer better dexterity for activities like racing or technical skiing. Additionally, some gloves feature waterproof materials and insulation for extreme conditions, while others may prioritize breathability for warmer days on the slopes. Choosing the right style can enhance comfort and performance based on your skiing needs.
Winter ski gloves vary in waterproofing based on the materials and technologies used in their construction. Many gloves feature waterproof membranes that prevent moisture from entering while allowing sweat to escape, keeping hands dry and comfortable. Some models may also include water-resistant outer fabrics that provide an additional layer of protection against snow and wet conditions. The level of waterproofing can influence the glove's performance in different weather conditions, making it important to choose a pair that suits your skiing environment.
Breathability in winter ski gloves is essential for maintaining comfort during outdoor activities. It allows moisture from sweat to escape, preventing the buildup of dampness inside the gloves, which can lead to cold hands. A breathable design helps regulate temperature, ensuring that hands stay warm without overheating. This feature is particularly important for skiers and snowboarders who engage in high-energy activities in cold conditions.
Yes, winter ski gloves can be used for various winter activities beyond skiing. They are designed to provide warmth and protection from the cold, making them suitable for snowboarding, snowshoeing, and even casual outdoor activities like building snowmen or walking in the snow. Many ski gloves also feature waterproof materials and insulation, which enhance their versatility for different winter conditions.
When selecting winter ski gloves, consider the fit and insulation to ensure comfort during your time on the slopes. Look for gloves that provide a snug yet flexible fit, allowing for dexterity while keeping your hands warm. Additionally, materials that offer breathability and moisture-wicking properties can enhance comfort by preventing sweat buildup. Finally, features like adjustable cuffs and wrist straps can help keep the gloves securely in place and block out cold air and snow.
To ensure the durability of your winter ski gloves, it's important to follow proper care and maintenance practices. Always clean them according to the manufacturer's instructions, using gentle detergents and avoiding harsh chemicals. Store the gloves in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent material degradation. Additionally, regularly check for any signs of wear and tear, and address any issues promptly to extend their lifespan.
Mittens generally provide better warmth than gloves because they allow fingers to share heat, making them a great choice for cold conditions. They also tend to be less bulky, which can enhance dexterity for activities like adjusting gear. On the other hand, gloves offer more individual finger movement, which can be beneficial for tasks that require precision, such as handling ski poles or zippers. Ultimately, the choice between mittens and gloves depends on personal preference and the specific conditions you expect to encounter while skiing.
