Used them for a week long trip that was mostly walk/wading and in and out of a drift boat. The grip is great and the lightweight feel of the boots makes them very comfortable. Not much of a break in period though the ankles are a little stiff at first. Can definitely feel the softer inner sole grip the pointed rocks compared to the stiffer outer sole, which helps them feel a bit like hiking boots. Would highly recommend them.

Columbia is by far my favorite brand of hiking boots/shoes because they always just fit me really well, and this boot is no exception. The Newton Wander is a good looking and comfortable hiking boot. I do n't feel like it needed any break in period, and I wore mine as my daily drivers until the arches were shot. I always left them tied, but could get them on and off quickly by looping the laces on and off of the top couple sets of hooks. Even after they were worn out and the soles were worn down, I kept them around and wore them a couple more times to do some landscaping work and rebuild a retaining wall in my back yard. They can really take a beating!

Well first off these are Lightweight and at the end of the day you don ’ t feel like a horse shedding a saddle. They slip off and my feet feel great. I did put my arch supports in and these boots picked up where my other Georgia boots left off. The soles of the boots grip well on many surfaces and the tops have a nice feel and not too restrictive also. I ordered a half size bigger, since I wear wool soaks for added cushion on my feet. Now the only draw back is I wish they were a little narrower by a little. These feel like they are wide instead of a standard width. Again, my wool soaks help make up for some of the looseness but it is not a deal breaker by no means. Thus far for everyday work boots for someone who is on their feet a lot on concrete, these have done really well.

I 've been buying these boots to wear for my landscaping business for as long as I can remember.( over 15 years?) They are comfortable after a day of brake in. I apply one coat of weather seal when I buy them. I wear them over 12 hours a day and they last about 6 to 8 months. I like that they are n't steel toes, and that the tread on the sole does n't disturb the soil very much, but has good traction. I like to buy two at a time so I can alternate wearing them. I have bought them for my helpers too.

Also have had a couple pairs of low top Zionics. I like them but the Apex fits me a bit better. A shade more toe box room. I would n't mind even a tad more. I will likely replace the Zionics with low top Apex shoes at some point. At 69 my feet are more particular than they once were and Keens keep me comfortably on the trail. As soon as I received Merrell's email about these several weeks ago, I was intrigued. I really liked their look and style; plus being waterproof was also a benefit. As soon as I saw that they had gone on Merrell's Holiday discount, I grabbed a pair at a great price. I 've been wearing Moabs for years and they have all been exceptional. I did notice that the footbed under the ball of my foot seemed to be a bit thinner than my other Moabs. However, it might simply be that these Moab 3 Luxe have a more aggressive tread. Either way, after a day or so the footbed cradled to my foot, and I 've been delighted. I still do need to get used to the newer thinner slightly flatter laces, and do wish they were a few inches longer.

For starters, the boots look amazing. Black matches everything and 6 inch is an amazing size. The insoles are firm until you step.( I don ’ t know how) basically, I ran to a friends house in these. And I noticed every step, I the boot rebounded me giving me a little boost. But when standing still, the boots have amazing support. I got them 1 day ago and used them is the snow and ice, then wore them to work today. The only reason I gave them a 4 out of five for durability is because I haven ’ t owned them long enough to know if they will hold. But based off of the feel and finish. It seems pretty solid. I noticed creasing from running in them which means like all boots, they are gon na crack eventually. As for the functionality of them. I was on my knees stocking some low shelves and notivced the boot doesn ’ t bend as much as it could. But you can substitute that by getting a soft toe version if you don ’ t need hard toed.

I also used them as my go to hunting boot as well. They 're heavy duty and it taken care of will last for years and years. I brought the leather back to life on mine using mink oil several times. Not too heavy, and the waterproofing has worked well so far in my three months of ownership. [ I have had several pairs of these and will keep buying them as long as they are available. I use them for everything from hiking and fishing to farm work, roofing and all types of construction. I even have a pair I wear for casual outings. I do n't think they are intended for the abuse I put them through, but they hold up pretty well and most importantly, I never think of my feet hurting while I 'm wearing them, even after long, exhausting days. My finicky feet love these hikers for all occasions.

[ I live in Taylors Falls, MN which has many fabulous trails nearby, some of which are difficult( many rocky surfaces, sometimes wet). These boots have performed wonderfully. They are comfortable. I have n't slipped, and the treads are solid and grip all types of trails well. This was a great purchase. I highly recommend these hiking boots.
