[ Even though the boat is light, it's awkward to tote to the water while trail hiking. This pack makes backcountry lake paddling so much easier!

5 Mad Max
[ I love this backpack. Stand you ORU on it ’s side. Pull the backpack down over it. Flip it over. Zip it up and your done. Set it on a table. Adjust the straps and walk away. So easy.

5 Wren
[ Comfortable and easy to use. I was bought this for back country lakes but find I use it often since the kayak bumps and hurts my leg when I 'm just using the shoulder strap to carry it. Where I live parking is an issue, so I always end up toting the kayak at least a few blocks and this helps.

Pack it in, pack it out! Once you understand how it works.... and does n't, it's a breeze. Well- designed and makes carrying pretty easy.

Nice protection for my new Coast XT. Oru tech support very helpful when I had a question about orientation of folded kayak in pack. Keeps sand and grit off folded kayak and protects edges if you have a long carry to assembly location. Fold pack and stow below deck when you paddle.

[ Fantastic bag with great quality straps and buckles. Fits the kayak and ore perfectly. I ’ ve only hiked a mile with it so far but the hip belt and sternum strap make the load really distributed. Worthy addition to the Inlet kayak

5 Jeff
Fits the Inlet perfectly and makes it easier to transport. Can also store paddles and some other items in the pack so you can easily hike to a lake

5 Oru fan
[ So glad I bought this. I live in a river town and like to use my Oru kayak after work. I tend to kayak alone and have to put in one location and take out down river. With the pack, making the hike back to where I parked so easy. The pack fits well for my frame, I am 5' 9 ''. It holds my paddles, extra gel seat and my dry bags. If you think you will need to carry your Oru more than just across the parking lot, this is the way to go

My brother bought it for me, I do n't really plan to use it like a backpack but it's been good to store it in for the winter( our kayaking season is pretty short).

As a mom of 3 small children, I knew I needed a kayak that would let me get out on the water quickly and easily, so I could take advantage of every spare minute I could find. This baby takes me five minutes to set up, two minutes to pack up, and is so light and easy to transport! It needs such little storage space in between paddles, and doesn ’ t require me to shove a 50lb kayak on the roof of my car. It paddles like a dream( to this inexperienced kayaker), and is so, so fun! I ’ ve even taken all three of my girls with me — it ’s a heavier ride for sure, but I can do it, if I just NEED to get out on the lake! It ’s a life- changer for me.

Frequently Asked Questions For Backpacks for Kayaking

When selecting a backpack for kayaking, prioritize waterproof materials to keep your gear dry. Look for adjustable straps for a comfortable fit and a design that allows for easy access to your belongings. Additionally, consider features like external pockets for organization and reflective elements for visibility.

Backpacks designed for kayaking are typically made from waterproof or water-resistant materials such as nylon or polyester with coatings that enhance durability. Many also feature reinforced seams to prevent leaks and ensure longevity. It's important to choose a material that can withstand exposure to water and the elements.

The right size backpack for kayaking depends on the duration of your trip and the amount of gear you need to carry. For day trips, a smaller capacity of around 20-30 liters may suffice, while longer excursions may require larger backpacks of 50 liters or more. Always consider the balance between capacity and weight for ease of transport.

Yes, backpacks for kayaking often feature designs that enhance functionality on the water. Look for options with roll-top closures to provide a secure seal against water ingress. Some designs may also include padded back panels for comfort during long paddles and straps that allow for attachment to kayaks.

Dry backpacks are specifically designed to keep your belongings safe and dry in wet conditions, making them ideal for kayaking. They often feature waterproof materials and sealed seams to prevent water from entering. This ensures that your gear remains protected from splashes and immersion, allowing you to focus on your kayaking experience.

While you can use a regular backpack for kayaking, it may not provide the same level of protection against water as a specialized dry backpack. Regular backpacks may absorb water and fail to keep your gear dry, which can lead to damage. For optimal performance and safety, it's recommended to use a backpack specifically designed for kayaking.
